It's not the fault of the Windows 7, it's the fault of his GPU, the MX440. I had the MX440 too, and I too wanted to run it under Windows 7, and got the exact same BSOD on the exact same file. There's simply no stable drivers for the MX440 PERIOD. Any NVIDIA GPU from the 6xxx series or newer, have built-in Win7 drivers, and will work beautifully.

Bob Pony, I managed to put Windows 11 on an unsupported Late 2015 21.5-inch iMac that didn't meet the system requirements, but it runs just fine, apart from a slower startup time.
XP get s a lot of praise because of how long it was around as the main OS so saw improvements over its life. I for one never hated Vista as much or Me for that matter as I remember how bad XP was prior to SP1, it was the single most unstable and buggy OS I had ever used and unless you had 1GB of ram or more it was slow as hell (most of the PCs I had to work on were selling with less than that and so were painful to use). Me was at least compatible if a bit temperamental, and Vista was fine as the 64bit version with a decent amount of RAM (mind you I had friends that worked in a few major computer chain stores, and they were all told in their pre vista launch training that it would be 64bit only, which kind of explains the crappy 32bit performance if it was an after thought), in fact the main selling point of 7 for me wasn't that it was better than Vista, it was that it performed as well as Vista 64bit but needed less updating after installing. I used to dual boot Vista with XP after the less than impressive performance my 2GB gaming PC had when I used the 32bit beta version, but after a while I just went Vista 64bit only and beyond a dedicated retro XP PC in recent years, never went back to XP. Both Vista and Me weren't really given time to mature like XP, though I probably wouldn't be far off saying that W7 was Vista with the fixes and a new name to remove the stigma.
At least for nostalgic purposes, I still have a Gateway pc made back in the beginning of 1998 that still runs Windows 95 and still works fine with the original 4.3gb hard drive, and 200mhz pentium processor mmx and 64 mbs of ram. I imagine it could easily handle Windows 98 or even ME, but I wouldn't bother. For more modern day computer tasks, I use my Dell precision m6400 with Windows 7.
As I tought the answer is YES and NO. Everything depends on the developers. If you improve the look of the OS (and not only that) you have to improve even the performance. In some OS they have done a pretty good job with the performance.
well if you got a machine that is 2005 or older that was used for windows xp you can upgrade it to windows 10 but it will make it worse, if machine is made 2004 or less that means you cant upgrade to windows 8 and higher version.
i don't think the Windows 98 results are comparable, you can't compared scores from different PerfomanceTest versions, all OS should be compared using the same benchmark version imo. btw, i got an HP D530 with a 3.0 C P4, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD and a Geforce 6200. Also i might have PCs cappable of running a wide ranger of Windows versions with driver support, from like 98/ME up to even 8.1/10 (my Athlon 64 and some rape P4s with VIA or SiS Chipsets)
The bsod in windows 7 is due to the graphics card driver. If you want, try installing an older version driver. Also, the tests stopped at windows 7 because there's no driver for windows 8 and 10 is there?
But if i run the same testing program in my Acer Aspire 4830TG, Geforce 540M, Intel Core i5 that runs Windows 7 Ultimate I didn't get the bsod but what is get is a GOOD PERFORMANCE.
The only reason Vista scored better is because it could do a complete test, rather than a partial test. If you had more space allocated when Win2k/XP were installed, they would've scored better.

I understand, I respect your opinion. But this is my opinion : I used these operating systems. Vista isn't really bad. And, I used Vista for many years, and I only saw a crash on my system. So I recovered my computer. And, Vista is not suitable for gaming. It's suitable for business and daily use. I got tons of errors on my old Windows 10 laptop. (from 2012) Example, it can't open Minecraft, GTA SA, etc. It's so slow in daily use. But, why am I still using Windows 7? Because it's so fast in daily use, games, application, etc. But it makes a change on the computer's performance. note : lags are only in multiplayer games.
Vista is the Best!!! better even than 7 and especially 8.1! (I'm not hating on Windows 7, but I'm hating on 8.1 which constantley crashed my computer [total of 10 crashes], Windows 7 [3 crashes], Windows XP [2 crashes] Windows Vista [0 crashes(the only OS that I've never faced problems or issues with..)]

Depends on how old the pc is and ability to find drivers for older hardware on newer os
Vista and 2K kicked ass
Windows 7 was like Fuck it BSOD on your face because I'm imbarest at my score

Windows ME is basically 2000, and they're on the same line as the Windows 9x series.

Intelligent Person When it got to the disk writing test he didn't allocate enough space to have the disk tests done.
