They were supposed to be classical instruments, but instrument makers in Paris did a successful boycott so that few composers included sax in their pieces.
I am very impressed. I'm an intermediate clarinet player and an low-intermediate flute player, and I can say 1 thing... "The articulation is strong in this one!" ahaha! Woow! ahahaha! I can't articulate like that on the clarinet... and never will... ahaha!!! :)
Wow this is so wonderful! It reminds me of a quote by the Irish poet John O 'Donohue: " Beauty is that in the presence of which you feel more alive". I feel this way at two on the morning now , thank you! I absolutely love your podcast too.
Glissando maybe, or a smear... I am no soprano sax player, but, I think she does it by modulating the pressure on the reed. Since soprano sax does not have open holes, this probably is best executed this way, instead of a gradual opening of the plateaux. Or maybe it is a combination of both techniques... Not sure...
Excelente saxofonista.
Rehearse the song. songs like this will probably be at a spring concert or later than that, you get the music and rehearse it beforehand. Also I think this is just audio over recording
No. Soprano Sax embochure is very different. clarinet needs to be condensed and firm, while soprano needs a loose but firm embochure to stay in tune, especially since the mouthpiece is small
@dvd man Not sure, i mean i'm studying the sax ^^' i'm perfectioning the soprano (after alto and baritone) and i'm almost at horizontal (teachers makes me play so), at least more than she does. But i repeat it sounds good ;)
I totally agree with you on the positioning the saxophones and soprano in particular. And that is why her sound is closer to a clarinet than a saxophone.
@dvd man correct embouchure is a relative term. you are probably thinking from a classical players perspective when the lower lip is tucked inside and you angle the instrument downward like a clarinet. but the jazz community plays 99% lower lip out and you need the mouthpiece to come off as straight as possible to get the best result. and no, you do not need to tilt your head back... maybe even a bit forward could be better.
@dvd man well no ahaha actually your alto mouthpiece is quite horizontal (the neck is making the angle), and so "should" be your soprano so you need to put it higher ;) I invite you to go to this video to see how I'm holding my sax ;) ruclips.net/video/uNSI28q2asI/видео.html
I think this best suits the alto more, due to the soprano being more high-pitched and missing the context of the low Bb the alto has. But not a bad rendition by any standard.
Im sad seeing this I was expecting the slow part until the candence and you just jupped it off A played that piece in quartet and with piano think that part its the climax of the piece but okay 😑 But your staccato is amazing Congrats
The first time I heard it, I got so addicted to it. I've listened to it 20 time now without stopping 😂
Gracias
Jazz has for so long blinded me to the classical context of saxophones. This was refreshing to see. ❤️
They were supposed to be classical instruments, but instrument makers in Paris did a successful boycott so that few composers included sax in their pieces.
That's some serious talent there! The tonguing is so precise! It sounded amazing!
And you bought a 20,000 dollar sax yesterday, right? Your very first just to give it a try.
She really hit us with the ‘doodoodoo doodoodoo doodoodoooo’
Words can't describe how much I love this!
one of the best spanish music pieces of our century
Such a beautiful piece of music , my ears are pretty grateful
I am very impressed. I'm an intermediate clarinet player and an low-intermediate flute player, and I can say 1 thing... "The articulation is strong in this one!" ahaha! Woow! ahahaha! I can't articulate like that on the clarinet... and never will... ahaha!!! :)
Ole from Spain Jessy. Grande Iturralde
Another great performance, Jess. Absolutely beautiful
This is just amazing!
Very good. Total mastery of the saxophone. Music well done. Congratulations!
Wow this is so wonderful! It reminds me of a quote by the Irish poet John O 'Donohue:
" Beauty is that in the presence of which you feel more alive".
I feel this way at two on the morning now , thank you! I absolutely love your podcast too.
The staccato is
....perfect
Thank you for such a beautiful performance ..!
How is it called that sound that she makes at 2:35 when she transitions to the last note?
Glissando maybe, or a smear... I am no soprano sax player, but, I think she does it by modulating the pressure on the reed. Since soprano sax does not have open holes, this probably is best executed this way, instead of a gradual opening of the plateaux. Or maybe it is a combination of both techniques... Not sure...
Wow. Some seriouslt great soprano chops too🙌🏻
Excelente saxofonista.
This is such a great performance. That pitch bend at the end stopped on a dime lol
Omg that was fantastic.
Extreemly good, very good 👍😁👍👍👍👍. Vaios kyritsis ,Volos,Hellas
I would have thought this dexterity to be impossible!
Jeez, that's some serious talent!! ❤️
it's not Jeez.. it's JESS... 😂
An amazing up and coming talent on saxophone. As good as anyone I have heard in the classical world.
Yeah. You are quite, quite a cool artist. NICE!
There's no applause at the end of the piece in the video - but let me assure you, there is a great round of applause from here.
It’s cause it’s a recording session there’s not audience
@@Bob-hv6dy Thanks! That explains.
Incroyable articulation!
Awesome! She is so good! Bravissimo!
Simply superb!

Wow!
The best saxophone player in classical music in my opinion. Just superb!!!!!
Yeah she's amazing.
super detache..... bravo
3:00 she brings the rhapsody in blue style reed playing in and I about peed my pants. DAMN LADY.
I looooove this
So melodic, so on the spot, very tasty!
How you can play this without notes?🤔
Rehearse the song. songs like this will probably be at a spring concert or later than that, you get the music and rehearse it beforehand. Also I think this is just audio over recording
Look out Amy Dickson there's a new great talent in town!!
Is this the Young Musician performance with the video overlaid (I can hear the accordian synth)?
Bravissimi!
No cadenza???? I was excited to hear your interpretation on it. : (
Sheet music pleaseeeeeee 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 or pdf sheet 😁
what the instrument is this?
Soprano saxophone.
brutal
She is almost as good as Kenny G
No vibrato is definitely an interesting choice for this piece
I am also practicing this song
It's a PIECE
Հայկ Սեւոյան ayo alto em nvagum
Victoria Babajanyan me too but on alto
She sounds like a clarinet, and her embochure is like that of a clarinet.
No. Soprano Sax embochure is very different. clarinet needs to be condensed and firm, while soprano needs a loose but firm embochure to stay in tune, especially since the mouthpiece is small
Weird that she put the soprano like a carinet (45° degrees), normally we put the sax more horizontal.. But it sounds great :D
@dvd man Not sure, i mean i'm studying the sax ^^' i'm perfectioning the soprano (after alto and baritone) and i'm almost at horizontal (teachers makes me play so), at least more than she does. But i repeat it sounds good ;)
Is that how you hold it? I've been trying to figure out how to hold the soprano, but couldn't find a video about it
I totally agree with you on the positioning the saxophones and soprano in particular.

Like others
Please!!!!!!!
Sheet music!!!!!!!
Where is the altissimo though?
is it a vandoren mouthpiece?
definitely a vandoren lig, not too sure about the mouthpiece
As a jazzaphone, she doesn't know how to articulate, everything is vibrato and there is no meaning
This is a joke, I loved your playing
Im sad seeing this
I was expecting the slow part until the candence and you just jupped it off
A played that piece in quartet and with piano think that part its the climax of the piece but okay 😑
But your staccato is amazing
Congrats
