I remember seeing this years ago and the words make more sense even now, and YES I couldn’t help but notice the same thing. She was far more priceless than diamonds
This woman changed my view on literature during the end of my school days. I went from the edge of failure and not attending lessons to getting a B in the final tests. My teacher loved Maya Angelou and taught her words with all the passion and emotional she could, she believed in the beauty of the words Maya Angelou spoke. She's motivated me to start writing myself and I will be uploading these on my channel. I may not be able to speak words like Maya Angelou but there's an unbelievable sense of fulfilment in expressing yourself in writing. I hope she can rest knowing how many people she has inspired and gave meaning into their lives.
I have “still I rise” tattooed on my arm and named my beautiful little black cat Maya, because I said she is a strong black woman for surviving her kittenhood on the street. I’m sure someone will call me a racist for that, but I meant that with all my heart when I named her Maya. Mayas struggle with her mother gave me life as a young woman, as I understood her struggle. She is immortal now. Her words will never die.
That s what I was thinking. Angelou’s poem is still so powerful. And how simple it is to start to make a better world. Here on the pulse of this new day You may have the grace to look up and out And into your sister's eyes, into Your brother's face, your country And say simply Very simply With hope Good morning.
The beauty of her voice, her words, her message. And the joy of listening, taking her words in, knowing the truth behind her words, the look of love from President Clinton. Now, more than ever we need to listen to her words.
gives me chills every time I watch this. like to watch first thing in the morning for inspiration. a truly phenomenal woman and will be missed by millions.
An absolute master class in the power of language and the profound perspective of history. Should be mandatory in every American history class and every language arts class. A modern masterpiece without rival.
Her voice draws me in and I have to listen twice. The first time I feel her words and am overwhelmed. The second I hear them and am in love, inspired. My God, to write something she would be proud of is my dream. What a person to have as my hero...
The great tragedy of this supremely gifted messenger and her most profoundly epic and clear message, not a soul behind her could hear a word she said. Speaking directly at them and challenging them was futile. The irony lost on them completely. "Today I call you to my river side if you will study war no more." Humans are not in charge. Nature is. We are but temporary visitors here. More than 30 years on and still they do not hear the rock, the river or the tree.
Just a force of nature. What an orator, what a blessing. How lucky I was to have lived while Maya Angelou lived!! Incredible American, incredible human!!! 🇺🇸
You may stand upon my rock, but you cannot hide your face I love her and listen to this often "do not wed to fear"""" I miss her and the silence is deafening. It is why I read her
That was a truly astounding poem, to compare it to anything I'll compare it to something my countryman & one of Marguerite's favourite poets wrote... A mans a man for a' that.
I have a tattoo in the middle of my shoulders with the text: Horizons Leans Forward offering you space to place new steps of change. First i only know it by LTJ Bukem from the music Horizons. Now i see her for the first time! I love this woman
Her knowledge and creativity survived in the ones who are inspired by her! It's not gone ! Death just means she wont be able to put more of her beautiful words out but the words she already said resonate within me and you and many others!!
I think this poem speaks well to America as a whole, even now despite stains within our history, it is the land of opportunity and opportunity always presents room for growth mass migrations to this nation do not happen on accident
Words can't even describe how beautiful this woman was inside and out. An icon. A treasure. Just a beautiful woman who loved.
dillon lynch a beautiful woman who loved, that’s an amazing definition.
Nice comment Dillon👍🏽
@dillon......Quit trying to fool us with your B.S. progressiveness. You were probably the first one to fall asleep during her speech.
She is the only black person in that stage. She shone like a diamond .
I remember seeing this years ago and the words make more sense even now, and YES I couldn’t help but notice the same thing. She was far more priceless than diamonds
A racist comment

Honoring the great Maya Angelou (1928-2014)
This video has been featured on The Sincerely, she Project! sincerelysheproject.blogspot.com/2014/05/todays-quotesnews-world-says-goodbye-to.html
Maya is part of those people who changed the world, she will never be forgotten
I wept when I heard it on January 20, 1993, and I still weep today. What a treasure she was.
The depth of this poem is remarkable. May we all learn from her vision for us.
Maya's words, her voice, enlivens my soul. A truly great human being of amazing grace, spirit and teaching.
“History despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again.” 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
This truly moved me to tears.. yet still many will not understand its depth
One of my favorite excerpts from her art
"Each new hour holds new chances for new beginnings ... the horizon leans forward, offering you space to place new steps of change."
