I ended up running it for two groups and they did anything but follow the story. I'm amazed at how you guys managed to get straight to the point.
Well, it’s good that the players want to explore a lot! Do you want the entire campaign to be a waste of time or something? Exploring character relationships is the best part.

1:30 I mean I let both my parties sleep trough the night before they checked out the warehouse. But they didn't see the kenku so the attack on the zhentarim just happened later and floon and renaer were held prisoners for two more days.
My first thought seeing 2 rogues was that they could both stand either side of an enemy and whenever the enemies focus shifted they could just take turns sneak attacking him
That was an interesting exchange at 53:01 that highlights the difference between character and player knowledge. Beholders are colloquially called “eye tyrants” when they’re not xenophobic enough to lead communities or orgs, like Xanathar, but when DM said that term, the new player thought he was using the word “tyrant” as like an insult to Xanathar.
Healer's Kit is supposed to guarantee a successful stabilization even without the Medicine skill, or having to roll at all. Without a kit, you're supposed to be able to roll a DC10 Medicine check to stabilize an unconscious creature. Jacob either homebrewed, or goofed, in this episode.
My group just started this campaign last night and the best part was our 8 foot tall Goliath bard, who stood at the base of a black dragon in the previous session dodging and weaving its claws, rolls a nat one as the first roll of the campaign and proceeds to get knocked on his butt by an elbow to the face from Yagra. Besides the hilarity it actually provided a really good rp moment for my silver tongued rogue to convince the men that they couldn’t win that fight
I am running this campaign starting tomorrow - it'll be my first DnD campaign as a DM, (reference, the original ADnD were when I played last) - so I'm a bit nervous with all the moving parts in this campaign and the multiple villians and bringing others in etc.
The goliath rogue being super not sneaky flavor wise remind me of the centaur rogue I made. Narratively it doesn't make as much sense as other combos, but it's quite hilarious to play. The centaur was actually also basically a Pegasus because of a choice of homebrew boons (with downsides) our dm gave us all choices from. So a draft horse body, huge, marvelous golden wings, but built to be sneaky af. It's flavored as her blending in with nature and wildlife and knows how to navigate quietly through the woods.
Jacob, you and your friends are adorable!! I don't know if I can commit the time to listen to all episodes, but keep doing what you guys are doing. Much love😍😜
I’ve seen some of your short form videos, and found them very insightful and funny. Gotta say, you’re a better DM than any I’ve had, and much better than I am currently. I love how every action isn’t just swing and miss/hit, but has a theatrical flair to it. Kudos! I’ll try to incorporate that into my game style.

Jacob, xp to level 3 is awesome, this is my first time watching you dm. You really move things along and keep it interesting. Your party members are great, completely wrecked that troll! Looking forward to catching up on your videos thanks for posting!
Currently working through this for my first D&D campaign.
How is it going?
Rui Kirisame - It went so poorly, OP died.
"I'm not in love with him"
*every d&d group* "no, we think you are"
I think Ary is a Divine Soul Sorcerer. I say this as I heard Spencer ask if she could use her Divine Soul ability to gets d4 on a performance check.
I just bought this module and am excited to run it, and absolutely tickled pink that I get to see YOU DM it first!!!
I love that Irah's art looks like shaggy from scooby doo with more hair
Wow you guys keep it moving. Took my group 12 hours to get where you guys got lol
The bloodeborne hunters dream music is always so soothing
1:30 I mean I let both my parties sleep trough the night before they checked out the warehouse. But they didn't see the kenku so the attack on the zhentarim just happened later and floon and renaer were held prisoners for two more days.
I feel like when people play changelings they’re just gonna wanna change. It makes sense.
Why have I not heard of this channel?!? It's got 2 of my favourite youtubers in it. I'm so glad I found this channel. 😁
It's nice seeing another DM's take on this.
Watching now the sewers is done, I think I'll print the map so as to reduce the amount of time trying to explain the layout.
Wait Logan’s last name is Reese… like Logan Reese the “bad guy” on Zoey 101… I love it.
I was looking for another game to watch and, I was also thinking about running Dragon Heist so, I am super excited to watch!!!
My first thought seeing 2 rogues was that they could both stand either side of an enemy and whenever the enemies focus shifted they could just take turns sneak attacking him
I love Mycroft!
I’ll try and use this in my Waterdeep Dragon Heist campaign.
It’s kinda surreal to see someone play the same game I played. Especially so different to how we ran it...
Now this is a stream to get comfy to.
My gosh, baby Jacob! Also this is a great actual play, everyone is fully invested in their silly characters.
I like how Logan's face drops mid Mind Flayer description.
Dude I come home stressed and then BOOM D&D hilariousnes always ensues tis happy again 😊
I am running this campaign starting tomorrow - it'll be my first DnD campaign as a DM, (reference, the original ADnD were when I played last) - so I'm a bit nervous with all the moving parts in this campaign and the multiple villians and bringing others in etc.
When you realise Xanathar's symbol looks suspiciously like a covid cell
Ahhhhhhh your right.
When everyone screams INSIGHT
Jacob, you and your friends are adorable!! I don't know if I can commit the time to listen to all episodes, but keep doing what you guys are doing. Much love😍😜
That goliath is definitely my favourite character!
Hey can I get a link to the artist mentioned? I like starring at pictures :3
Staring?
You guys got through this much faster than my group. It took us three two hour sessions to get to the Kenku.
Ya''ll know crowbar allows the strength check to be done at advantage right?
