Notice you happened to stop at the Ridgecrest/Trona cutoff. I have a 1996 RT that I bought a few years ago. Unfortunately the past owner was an idiot. Did not maintain the bike. The final drive was wrecked with the big bearing being in pieces. It is a miracle that I made it home when I bought it. I replaced the final drive and rode for a few months before something else went south, haven't diagnosed the problem yet. I hope I can get back on the road because I just love the ride.
Nice ride. I've heard that there are no speed limits on that drive... how fast did you average? I guess that the R1100RT can cruise at 100+mph all day long... plus a 200-300 range on a full tank with the windshield all the way down. (at 70-90 mph) That sounds good to get through the desert as fast as possible.
