Sometimes I regret that we don't have solar panels. At other times, I don't. 🌨🌨🌨🌨

@@oldtimerlee8820 Sadly or gladly there are options to cleaning elivated panels the way I do. I just did the new system as ground based. I could also add heaters . I feel a bad winter coming on. Time will tell. I want my tractor back ( sigh ).

@@offgridamy717 I understand. In my youth, I lived on a pre-grid farm. Remember well when REA brought power lines across the land. To hear the news at 5:00 pm, we'd sit in my father's 1950's Oldsmobile to listen to the radio. Didn't have a generator, either.
That said, the world is so much different today. We were like all of our neighbors. None of us had electricity. All of had what we needed to live and yes thrive without watts.
Wells had pulleys, buckets and and chains. There was a slop jar (bucket) under the bed for nighttime duty. Most kitchens had castiron cooking ranges. Mama's had a warming closet above and a hot water reservoir on the side opposite the fire box. In our case we had kerosene lamps in every room. One of my earliest memories is eating supper with one on the kitchen table.
I have her castiron washpot and the #10 washtubs,. Bought washboard for it. Have my mothers flatirons. Also have her butter churn.
Sorry for rambling on .... just remembering how off-grid living was the norm and not the exception. A lot of simply taking it in stride, as we had no experience with anything else. A great advantage, at the time. And a good yardstick to use to measure ability to cope in today's life experience.

@@offgridamy717 Easy to see the advantage of having the panels on the roof when compared to ground level. Yet, can appreciate what it takes to climb to clean whether snow or dust.

@oldtimerlee8820 you just made me look pampered hahaha. Solar here is like a disease progression. Started out to run a freezer converted to a frig/ freezer to recently buying a one cup coffee maker. I still have quirks like today. No sun so I made stove top coffee. I still use electric sparingly.
