Maybe he does... but there has only been one successful k swap in a 3rd gen in the world (fitting it under the bonnet... with atrocious ground clearance). And there is a reason for that... it has a very low hood line...

Looping the power steering in a 3rd gen will make it aids to drive
The steering will be so heavy its not funny
The 4ws system basically requires you to have power steering
Ive been there, it lasted twise around the block before i knew if had to change
And im not a small guy, and never skip arm day so strength isn't an issue

This guy knows what he's talking about. Seems like he has the vision and just waits for it to happen, which is good. He has thought about everything, so the build will be well thought out! Just do it!
will being a Prelude enthusiastic myself, I don't like that you went with a K20, I don't know how much experience he has with preludes or preludes of that year, but you can modify the stock engines relatively easy. he will have a lot of trouble putting the K20 in because they don't fit all that great. Height is a big issue and 16 inch wheels alone will not raise the car up enough to not worry about the oil pan making contact with the road. Which means you can't lower the car and if you do it's not much, maybe half to an inch lower. You could have done a B20A/B21A1 hybrid turbo, H22A, H23A, H23A blue top, any F series, or any newer B series engine. Your going to want to keep P/S for that 4 wheel steering ( I know from experience).

I would never do that. My daily driver doesn't have power steering and it's shit. Cars that came equipped without power steering usually have a bigger steering wheel and a different gear ratio of the steering gears so you don't have to apply so much force on the steering wheel. But if you just remove the power steering from this car the rest of the steering is not adjusted for mechanical steering so it's probably gonna be a pain to drive. You can easily see that when you drive a modern car with power steering and stall the engine - you need a shit ton of force to move the steering wheel then, a lot more than in a car that wasn't equipped with power steering in the first place.

Interesting discussion of how flexible the K20 is. Good video.
This is a challenging swap. The 3rd gen Prelude's B-Series is leaned 18 degrees towards the firewall. Those K-Series are set to 15.5 degrees in the RSX, but that car is taller. It'll be interesting to see how they position everything because the only K 3rd gen I've seen has a hood with a massive bulge to accommodate the intake manifold that doesn't really fit. They said in the video that it would be close to the hood and that they chose a K20 over a K24 with one of the reasons being the block is shorter, but those seem like safe choices and don't mean there's a master plan yet... If they can make it fit without altering the hood that would be incredible.

I recommend keeping the stock wheels. Nothing says sleeper or "nothing to steal here" like OEM wheels.
I don't know about brake pads but there are definitely higher performance tires available for 14", and there's more selection in the UK than the US.

I had one of these for a little while, I loved it, it was given to me buy my friends dad when they had to go into wpp, I don't know what was done to the engine but it sounded like a rotary and was really really quick, it went missing when I went to jail for 6 months, never found out what happened to it.

Used to have this car and loved it, by that time i had also e30 M3 sport evo and on a twisty road, where power was not important, prelude was faster than that bmw icon! The car looks great on 17’s with tinted back lights ;)

I had one of these 15 years ago. It was an red Si auto. It was the only car in my life that stranded me on multiple out of state trips. On one occasion, Parts were unavalible for over 2 weeks, gets fixed, Then anouther breakdoiwn 20 miles from there. Oh ya..Got a call a few hours after i originaly left home, Boss saying were all layed off, now unable to pay for the repair. Had to get a job & move to said town in Iowa ! EFF YOU HONDA PRELUDE

I owned the 3rd Gen Prelude for 12 years. My first and best car I had over owned. Wish this guy was around (and located in Australia) when I owned it as I would have def taken it to him.

Me too. This is supposed to be an alternative commuter car not a track-only machine, and he is being distracted by a garage who can see some free advertising and a lot of billed time. ABS is a life saver on real roads. Removing it is cock waving.
@@Zadster i would agree with you if it a was a modern abs system.. But its old and it will probably cost less to replace the brakes with a bigger kit.. Besides shouldn't be worried about locking up if u are looking ahead and know how to brake properly in an emergency💁

There are only pros as long as the k20 has oil she’s happy my k20a is on 160,000 mixed Kms and miles and still drives like a beast best 2l na engine ever
My 3SGTE is on 157k miles (244000 k) and is still as good as ever.

Main benefits - big aftermarket, cheap tuning, can swap it literally everywhere. I mean, I'm looking for a car right now with a k20 and tranny in my garage so on used car market I'm worried only about rust and stuff since worst case scenario (spending next to all savings on pristine slow car) I survive with poor performance for a few months before swapping (I mean, depending on the car I might need few extra swap parts for which I'll have to save up).

There is an old bloke (of course) driving one of these Preludes around my town, the thing is factory fresh, clearly garaged & loved by its owner.
I'd love to know how many miles are on it.
It's also white which in my opinion is the best colour for any Japanese car.
You are most likely going to have to hack up the hood to fit a k20 in. There have only been a handful of k-swapped 3rd gens done and everyone has had to cut the hood and/or ended up with crummy ground clearance. You would be much better off with an h/f series engine for a daily. K20 will definitely be cool, but not practical. See links below:

Thats what Id do, but a K20 is probably much more readily avalible, much more common and easier to work with anyway. People K20 swap literally everything so there are probably way more kits out there to do it cheaper

H22's are plenty common, also plenty of such swaps already been done. They weren't sure about mounts for the K20, can just buy them for a H22.
