How were you able to capture 3 hours of footage on the GoPro? Battery, overheating, etc?

This may seem slightly unorthodox, but i put a ton of planning into where exactly i sit. The sun is my biggest enemy when it comes to overheating. So, for this flight that departed in the morning and arrived mid-day, and flew north, I knew the right side (east facing side) was going to br blasted with sun for a majority of the flight, so i picked the left side (west facing side). If im on a flight where its difficult to tell where the sun might be, i just pull the camera a bit away from the window and drop the window shade a wee-bit, just enough to cast a shadow on the GoPro. BUT, the absolute key to prevent overheating is to not use a battery. Strange, huh? I just keep the battery storage area open and a USB cord plugged in getting power from a power bank for the whole flight. And plus, a GoPro battery last so little time by itself that its almost not even worth trying to use it. I had a flight not too long ago from Denver to Hayden (20 min air time, 20 min ground time) and went through 2 batteries, plus an overheat. Not worth it. As long as my power bank is charged and I (or the kid in front of me) doesnt nudge the cord from the GoPro, I can film till storage space runs out!
