And he really never much went to a lot of bother to mention things like wife, marriage, monogamy, or lifetime commitment. He wrote "For the Good Times" which was basically a song about 2 people hitting the sheets one last time, for old time's sake before parting ways, and "Help me Make it Through the Night" about being lonely, not wanting to spend the night alone and not really caring about the consequences.
