What? A game that doesn't sugarcoat it's story? That's why I love it as fondly as I do. That Ramza isn't the hero everyone knows and remembers, he was always in hiding after the Ziekden incident, having to deceive under a false name. Yet behind the front-lines he was the one to lend a greater hand in ending the war, but he wasn't purified by the government and he didn't ask to, he just did what he and his father would have done, in Justice's name. That's the story I love.
The true confession of Delita's love for Ovelia is here, he has no reason to tell that to Ramza, and no reason to lie to him about his feelings. Ramza is the only person Delita can be sincere with.
I disagree. In the original you actually felt the commoners fear of the nobles and the horror of death in battle (those screams). The new one was very flowery and downplayed that part of the story. Still... It is nice to have the cutscenes.
I don't care how loud the music is, it's great. And I swear to god... when the music picks up at 2:08 and onwards. It just.. fits so well with the dialouge... ESPECIALLY at 2:47-2:58... It gets me all the time~~. That one phrase really made me think about how sad it is that Delita and Ramza's friendship has dwindled. ;m;
This scene happened in Ch.4, which Ramza already changed his outfit to that of a greenish/teal & red colour. I wonder why in this scene he is drawn wearing his Ch.2 & Ch.3 outfit...
Poor Delita. He really does care for Ovelia after all.... and to think that she thought that he was using her. (Maybe he *was* using her, but I'm sure he had feelings for her too) The ending was tragic =( I feel so sorry for Delita now.
god what did they use to animate? it's almost like manga style yet 3d models... amazing, even the art style it's almost otherworldy to me. someone please let me know.
I just found out that Delitas voice actor Robin Atkin Downes, voices Luxord in kh2. Two of my favorite vg characters ever are voiced by the same character.
The background piano music, although beautiful, is much too loud. It bears over the dialogue between Ramza and Delita in some parts, in which it is difficult to hear them. However, this is a great scene. I just wished that they made more cut scenes... I love this archaic dialogue... I wish we still spoke like that today, heh.
I wonder why Ramza, in all of the post chapter 1 cutscenes, appears only in his Chapter 2/3 outfit? This particular church cutscene for example, took place in Chapter 4, yet we see Ramza in his older outfit. Does anybody know the reason? I am aware that he appears in his later outfit during Chapter 4 gameplay.
The words and the way they pieced them. Fitting all too well to not deserve appraisal. That in itself it sad. That people cannot see the beauty in proper speech. People would rather hear things plain. To hear this and complain shows the waning intelligence and appreciation of what can be seen an art. No further say is needed. Just appreciate what they aimed for and let them hit the mark. Otherwise we leave their hearts empty....These aren't words of a scholar only an appreciant.
It's very well translated, though they tried a tad too hard for the voices. Still though, brilliant dialouge. To me, this scene is the best thing you could ever find for this game.
A common problem in adding voice to a mute scene. The original japanese release did not include a voicetrack. The music intensified for the moment, and the soundtrack wasn't appropriated.
I played the old version as a teen back in the 90s and the dialog was pretty modern. I haven't played the new version yet but I heard the dialog is really different. Not everyone will understand the old European style of speech the characters are using.
Flawless scene... In middle of Ramza's praying, his old friend Delita is consumed by grudge, get into church's door and walks into his "stone in the shoe" friend. hahahahahahahaha How beautiful and dramactic that scene is. Because they are divided by it's faith and love under the same ceiling's church, and not by they political ideologies questions, before it was. Good intentions were scorn for selfish reputation Mixing with brave friendships Even with accomplishes values At the mystic era of all times.
I somehow doubt their meeting was accident. Zalmour, a member of the church, clearly knew where Ramza was. It's likely Delita intercepted the news and simply came first, as he has no forces to gather before departing. I also really like how, even though Delita knows Zalmour is outside and that he risks everything by revealing his presence, even though it would be a simple matter for one of the church warriors to slip away, Delita walked into the light and chose to fight at Ramza's side. One last time. And the shot where they are framed standing back to back, with Ramza adorned in dark, spiked armour, and Delita wearing gleaming castle-forged gold. Though the world sees Ramza as a treacherous heretic and murderer, and Delita as a paragon of virtue, a true and devout knight favoured by the Church, Ramza is the one with the massive moral high ground. Delita has done dastardly, treacherous things. And the two of them, so different in status of birth and station, and now with their roles reversed, are still friends and erstwhile allies.

4:07: I wonder if there is a deeper meaning to this quote, or if it is supposed to show a glimpse of some aspect of Delita's character that we aren't supposed to see? **Spoiler below** At the end of the game, he knew that letting her live could result in his death, yet he chose to kill her, so that he could live, instead of saving her life by allowing himself to die.
In this part of the PS1 version. Ramza is wearing his blue armor. So, why is he still in his purple armor in this scene when he's supposed to be wearing his blue armor?
Because Delita "works" for the church and Ramza don't. Then the church made Delita "purified or Holy" a man who surved "God/the church". Ramza became a Heretic someone wanted/hunted by the church.
I agree, I would love Pixar or another company to make a CG movie liek this. If Squaresoft had tried to make a Final Fantasy movie like this instead of the way they did Spirits Within, then they would not of failed in the box office.
@Metroid22540 And that is why Matsuno and this game are so fucking awesome. It makes you think about things like how delita's methods weren't much different from the church in terms of using everybody for there own ends. Have you tried Tactics ogre let us cling together its just like this game (of course its made by the same team) and it has you make morally ambiguous choices throughout the game.
David de Bergerac that’s a great question. It always happens when delita is talking. In my opinion those lines although ambiguous always relates to his grudge since the ziekden incident. Always about fulfilling his revenge against the stabilishment but sounding kinda noble
Renato Pinheiro That’s actually a really good comparison between the quotes that I had never realized. It also makes for really dramatic lines, and I wish more of the cutscenes simply ended at them.
I think its all a matter of preference. I'd have no problem understanding the new dialogue but some ppl might so they prefer the modernized one of the original. I still like both very much :)
@Metroid22540 Delita was using next to everyone around him to fufill his own ambitions. Yet, Ramza Beoulve, was doing so much behind the front lines of the war, just doing what he knew was right.
Nonono, he is not lying here, the tragedy is that Ovelia grew to despise Delita so much she ended up trying to kill him, and he was forced to kill her in self defense. It's not Delita's fault Ovelia falsely believed him a power hungry monster. He wasn't much different from Ramza, except the people he killed didn't turn into demons.
@@KopperNeoman Ramza didn't kill people for power, Delita did. Ramza only sought to do as was right and protect his loved ones, and while Delita wished the same he was willing to go far further in his quest to do so. A final fantasy game that actually treated you like an adult.
FF4 kinda also did that
little N At points but then you’d have the bikini dancing girls and the “don’t ask me, I’m just a girl teeheehee!” at Troia. Good but inconsistent.
Until this day I've never played a game with such great storyline... The best game of all times for me..

they should make a show out of this. Doesn't even need to be live action, this animation style is perfect. I would easilly watch it all in one sit

In my latest playthrough, Delita went first on this battle and killed Zalmour instantly with Northswains Strike. That's how Delita rolls.
Where is Ramza's Chapter 4 outfit?
I don't understand why it was left out.
@JudgeMagisterDelita The problem with it is that it has Delita slamming the altar and doors closing.
