    First of all.... Afrikaans is not a white language. It is spoken by more Griqua (coloured) than Afrikaners. Brown people are keeping Afrikaans alive. BTW English is a colonial language. PARTITION S AFRICA NOW

    Unfortunately I don't agree with the 'modern' notion that Afrikaans is strengthening by diluting its own diction through the direct use of other languages' words. Creating uniquely Afrikaans words inspired or influenced by other languages is the way to go, but taking the words directly, is to dilute Afrikaans, and not to strengthen it.

      +Derelict Friend Is there any such thing, or has there ever been any such thing, as a language which does not incorporate words from other languages?

      +The Frankish Saxon Bantu Warrior that depends on how 'mature' a language is. A language like Afrikaans is formed based on the interaction of various languages. It is active in incorporating foreign words into itself. Therefore it is hard to define which words are "native" and which are loanwords as a lot of foreign words, of african languages origin or from german or french came into afrikaans before it was standardised and thus these words should be considered a part of the Afrikaans language and can be used as the base to create new words, even though some of these words may look like loanwords. Of course, I do agree if there are both a loan word and a native word for the same meaning, the native word should be preferred.

      I thinkyou're absolutely right. Afrikaans is a language that has this unique advantage that it is so easy to make new words. You don't see that in French or English. Why import words from other languages? Laziness? Dutch, which is my native language has been overwhelmed with foreignisms. Make your own words. Be creative!

    Actually, Afrikaans is a more native language in South Africa then English. That's the British who annexed South Africa in the early 19th century and imposed their language. Then the British transgressed again and annexed the Limpopo and Orange FRee State after the atrocious English-Boer war and again imposed English. That's the British who colonized half of Africa and imposed their language. So, who's the culprit?

      English is the most colonial language of all, it’s utterly foreign to South Africa, at least Afrikaans was made in Southern Africa, by folks of all stripes and colors. Skins of all hues.

    Why does the reporter pronounce "factor" as "fahtor"? It is how people speak on St. Helena.

    I think Afrikaans language is great and Afrikaner english accent is very distinct and recognizable.
    The only thing I would change is the G letter sound.
    I would give it the "guh" sound like ground in english. Instead of the the H sound . What do you think?

      well the gentleman said afrikaans is spoken by blacks,whites,indian and mostly colored...but u single out white accent over the others...hence to me you are impling that the original authentic users of afrikaans are white.Well only exists in sa if we are to preseerve it we should not do that ,as a black person i once wanted to abolish afrikaans as a language of obresssion...it vey hard to convince me about the lanauge hence u say u are better speakers of the language...nnote if blacks want afrikaans to be no more we have the little power to do so,but we want it....but ppl like u are divisive

      poloko collen When Afrikaaners speak English it is a different dialect. I admire it. Not how Afrikaaners speak Afrikaans.

      People assume coloured people are black as well, that's not true. By saying that you are subscribing to the very disgusting one drop rule used for centuries. Sorry but black African culture and colored culture is over different. Also black people are called africans because they are native africans where as colored have about ten to twenty percent African heritage. The rest of the genomic makeup is mainly South east Asian and European. I'm speaking for myself and the people that I know though.

      Darren Williams you are wrong, that's maybe for coloured people in the western cape but in the eastern and northern capes, coloured people have more than 50percent African dna

      African means 100% black, Coloured means mixed race, Afrikaner means white

    • @albanwilson8470
      @albanwilson8470 6 лет назад

      You heard correct, this is a typical example of how the so called colored is side lined is South Africa , therefor we say before we were not white enough and now we not black enough.
