The Megatron figure shown at the start is from The More Than Meets The Eye and Lost Light run by James Roberts from the IDW. It is by far THE BEST comic book series I have ever read. It's packed with action, mystery, twists, and humor and the way the story unfolds will blow your mind. You should read them regardless of whether or not you're into Transformers.
As a transformers collector, I can say that the articulation is usually very lackluster in the elbows, knees, and waist usually, and that’s actually what brought me to gunpla, the articulation aspect, and these kits really do justice to that! Love em
IDW’s Transformers is honestly the best transformers medium to come out in a while, especially considering things such as RID, Combiner Wars (the show, not the toyline), etc.
Mecha! The articulation on the Moon Gundam's ankles aren't bad. You just attached the joint into the leg upside down. If you want to get better movement down at the feet, then just flip that circular-ish joint around so the pegs are closer to the leg than the foot.
LoliMaster 69 I've never really been a fan of the Bayformers Starscream but what I meant by the comment was all the other characters. I would love to see an Optimus Prime in this series from the movie with all the tiny details and little bits and pieces all over the characters body. Maybe if they did him in whatever series the drift is from.
can't wait for that IDW-based Megatron and Optimus. You never any IDW, this just my opinion, you're missing out on some of the best Transformers stories ever told.
Now, for all my not IDW readers, you my notice that the Flame Toys Megatron has an Autobot insignia on his chest. That is because in the comic line "More than Meets the Eye" and "Lost Light", Megatron joins the Autobots for a bit, as this is after the War and the Decepticons lost and he trying to pay for what he did or whatever. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Besides that, Imma finna buy that Meg and possibly their Star Saber. Shit looks dope
William Simanjuntak I think you're forgetting about The Dark Knight Returns. That is the best comic book series ever written although the IDW Transformers as well as Watchmen are also high on the list.
As for light piping issues... they should need to find a way to redesign it like cutting a hollow-part on top of the head, putting mirror-stickers on back of the clear parts for the eyes... And the Clear-part for the eyes has to be an L-shape so the top-hollow part of the head wont be noticable... light will shone through from the top, the mirror-sticker reflects it and lights up the clear-red eyes.
Where is Soundwave, for that matter?! And we need more Autobots too! Jazz, Bluestreak and Hound would be nice, Ironhide; can't forget Primes security chief!
When I look at this iteration of Starscream, the first thing that comes up in my mind was "This looks like Airmaster. A lot." Then I looked at my desk and realized that this one is more similar to the Atmospheric Pack G-Self. Especially from that cockpit hatch up front.
I just picked up the Thunder Cracker kit and with just a bit of extra effort he can repainted as Sky Warp, if one wishes. Thus allowing the original three Seekers to be displayed along with Megatron.
The leg armor slides so that it gets a little more bend in the toe (running pose perhaps?) when it's up, and covers down when the toe is pointed out like a flying pose. I just finished this guy today, and I'm even more in love with Flame Toys. The ankles and wrists are definitely downgraded compared to Prime, I was really hoping for Prime style feet on all their kits. It's so simple and it does so much. Aside from those, everything seems nicer on Starscream. I plan on painting mine, but I threw a bunch of the stickers on just to check them out and it doesn't look bad honestly. I don't think anyone would be bummed on a straight out of the box build. I also love how they get to mold cool details on the back of these kits that make them look good from the back. It's a huge improvement over 99% of Transformers that have kibble-y backpacks that you definitely don't show off. The nose cone looks so cool poking out back there. This is my favorite Starscream ever, and I can't wait until their next release. :)
By the way early next year we will be getting a 4th variation of the Gundam OO Sky with the heavy weapon system just with the normal colours, so it will be the exact same as the trans am infinity version just without the trans am colours
There is a 'buy one get 2nd half off' sale on Flame Toys models, as well as a Thundercracker/Skywarp bundle for $50... so I ended up buying Thundercracker, Skywarp, Optimus Prime, Nemesis Prime, and Starscream today to go with my Autobot Megatron and Drift. Best buy I've made in a long time!!
Here's my suggestion for the eyes: Save a double-sided foil sticker-sheet from a Gundam (The one I'm using was for the eyes of the MG Dark Hound), and you can trim out the shape you need and stick it on the inside of the clear part of Starscream's eyes..
Ive got Megatron and the 3 seekers and they looked so cool I NEEDED more..so i just purchased 3 thundercraker kits to convert and paint into the 3 conehead seekers for a project to keep me occupied..
If you're looking for a relatively cheap, possible, and TRANSFORMABLE transformers figures, you should really check out the maketoys thunder manus and rioter despotron! They are really freaking awesome toys!!!!
You really hit the nail on the head with the statement that it looks like what you remember as opposed to reality. I remember when years later i wanted a G1 optimus and I was like...holy crap that looks terrible.
Personally,on the Bayformers vs. G1,I like both designs. While the G1 is very simple and clean, the movie design is very complex and cool looking, but it's very hard to say that one is completely better than the other in every way,but it's hard to call them the same character,as they're both extremely different, both in character and design aesthetics
Mecha Gaikotsu, the only transformable action figure-like Transformers that I could recommend are the ones from Maketoys Cross Dimension. They have the perfect balance of simple transformation, sleek proportions and articulation with ab crunches, 180 degress bends etc. They aren't the typical shape shifting panel folding fat robots with silly vehicle parts sticking out plagued with limited articulation.
For those wondering, NO they did not make Megatron a figure ... HE'S A MODEL and he's awesome. WORD OF WARNING... DO THE BUILD IN A ENCLOSED AREA THAT IS WHITE ... they include some damn near microscopic pieces of clear plastic that YOU WILL lose if you aren't careful with it.
I am waiting for my drift one noe, the megatron was not that apealing to me abd after seeing what they did with the Bumblebee I got a little dishearted, but the drift looked soooo promising! I might grab a megatron later on the year.
Don't kno if you'll see this but what pen would you use to panel line ABS plastic? Gundam pens don't play nice with ABS as it will lead to heavy fading or breaking.
Why am I just finding out about these now? I got the megatron idw model (love it) already and built it and this weekend I found star scream, optimus g1 ver, optimus prime idw clear ver, bug bite (evil bumble bee) and ultra magnus
I feel you were too biased for thia review. There were noticable nub marks, the seam that came undone at the thigh, and those monster sized foil stickers. I can't say i think this was a fair review.

Um yeah siege would like to talk with you
@Aiden Ly except for alt modes, paint and that you don't have to uni it
Seige really trying to prove that wrong. But these purely robor models are still better with the articulation
@Aiden Ly you're right but i am just sick of people shitting on Transformers toys when the last 5 years had some of the best figures period
Thats why I buy 3rd party.
Starcream have a GN drive on the back
Scary enough.
My thought too when I saw Starscream's rear.
Perhaps he's using a GN Tau Drive.
Looks like it, I mean it's longer
It’s a nose cone but sure.

We need a transparent one to be their ghost...
If they end up making Shockwave, I might have to nab one. I mean, I really could use a seventh Shockwave figure...
Where is Soundwave, for that matter?! And we need more Autobots too! Jazz, Bluestreak and Hound would be nice, Ironhide; can't forget Primes security chief!
They are making a fucking DEVASTATOR MODEL KIT ... so pretty much anything is up for grabs lol.

Looking forward to the color variations like SkyWarp, ThunderCracker and especially SunStorm.
Great review. I have to have this.
Awesome vid that runner idea you had for stands I used it and worked and merry Christmas bro
I'd love for Flame Toys to make a Soundwave or Shockwave kit
What kind of stand did you use?
You may have forgotten the look on the shelf.. but nice video i really was looking for it to come out!
I now have one. Love it. Where can I purchase a stand for him?
Starscream in Japan is fittingly enough considered an 'ikemen' (pretty boy/hot guy) character, this design dials it up to eleven on that concept.
The IDW fig of Megatron has the Autobots emblem!! I love it
Yaaaaay, it's here!
