There will NEVER be another drummer like Mr buddy rich but the B.R band of today sounds just as tight as ever.
Top Notch G.P.
Do they play West Side Story...one of Buddy’s masterpieces.
SHOW THE REST OF THE BAND!
Rich Avila
I’m also a big fan of Ludwig, apart from Slingerland, but the drums are not very clear and audible as you would like to hear.
The Ludwigs used with the band sound great...which model are they.
Radio Kings on loan.
@@brianchisnell1548 on loan from the great Jimmy Ford....on loan from Irv Cutler.
Irv Cotler....Frank Sinatra's drummer
Interesting. The Drums appear to be Radio Kings with a Slingy tom mount, but Ludwig logos everywhere. No logo on Bass drum. What drums are they??
The kit is a Radio King that belonged to Irv Cotler ........it was refurbished by Jimmy Ford. Ludwig kits are usually used by us.....Jimmy was generous enough to let us use this kit for this Catalina's show in Hollywood. A much different animal than the Ludwigs. The snare drum is a refurbished Fibes, also Jimmy Ford's. All Buddy's sizes, etc.....24, 13, 16, 16, 5 X 14 snare. The music stands are emblazened with Ludwig, because we are 100% Ludwig equipped....except for this gig! LOL!
@@BuddyRichChannelONE Thanks for the reply! I own an identical '48 WMP RK kit unrestored, so I recognized those beautiful drums. Huge BR fan here. Saw his band many times in So. Cal. GP does a kick'n job at this gig. Cheers!
Thanks Brian, The band will be back in Hollywood, September 29, 2019 celebrating Buddy's birthday at Herb Alpert's Vibrato Club in Bel Air. We will see what drums Ludwig has out there this time around!
@@BuddyRichChannelONE 'Hope you post a vid !
Buddy Rich was the greatest drummer in history and a genius...but never a poser.
Greg is an excellent drummer and is better suited here , than some of the other drummers in the Buddy Rich concerts.
Maybe a bit of a poser , which becomes annoying.
At least he’s true to Buddy’s set up, unlike so many of the others with big kits and not even using Ludwig or vintage Slingerland.
At least they should get the sound right.
Man, don't even get me started on this "Buddy Rich Band" stuff . . . . .
Big Swing Face
I’m a fan of Ken Loomer’s big band.
This music should be kept alive, but will never equal Buddy’s original, true band.
Certainly not without Buddy.
Would like to see Donny Osborne with a big band.
