For anyone building a cabin or shed: My next door neighbour spent £14k on a cabin 5 years ago and now its rotten. Why? You need to put footing of bricks down to raise the building then put DPC (Damp Proof Course) on top which stops water permiating up from the ground by capiliary attraction, never mind rain. DuPont Tyvek Housewrap - You can use builder's paper which is two layers of brown paper with tar in between, centuries old, works.
I'm a Union Electrician and it's still awesome every time I install the lighting on a project and flick the switch for the first time and it all works. Gotta enjoy the little things. Nice Shred Shed ^_^
One of my dreams is a studio in the garden. Haven't watched part 2 yet. Quick thoughts are I would have plaster boarded the walls (hope you do in part 2). Also I would have put the floor down last so not to get it dirty from painting the walls and ceiling. Personally I would have glass all along the front as I love the natural light but I can understand that would cost a whole lot more money. Looks awesome so far, now on to part 2!
This is like deja-vu, my first studio was built using practically the same ideas, well done Karl, I hope it brings you happiness and success, Love the video!
Looks like you made a fun place for music. It's so hard to keep to a budget with these sorts of builds. I started mine last October and wanted to convert a 1/3 of the shed to start with, but then it got too cold, so have to wait for it to warm up again (starting to). Hopefully I get that first bit done this year and I can start moving some gear out. Then I'll look at the other 2/3's. I went bit more extreme with isolation channels. But ply wood is always a good foundation because you can screw stuff into it (I'm using ply and gyprock - drywall to the US guys). Hope you get many years out of it.
the first song really fits an armageddon situation, where i stare at lots and lots of asteroids raining down on our planet, the camera cuts to extreme close up super slow motion of my eyes with the reflection of those asteroids, then i start to have flashbacks of my whole life, then cuts back and forth between flashbacks and slowmotion of earth's impending doom. great song.
This setup is ridiculously awesome. Please, teach me your ways! I'm converting a box truck into a mobile recording studio and with such limited space it's a challenge to produce top quality sound. But I'm going to make it happen no matter what. Watch me do it 🤘🤘🤘 Oh and thanks for the dope vid btw
Looks mad mate...show us where the bar goes in Part 2....essential for all studios haha. Nice space....cant wait to hear what you create in there.... ROCK ON!
Its actually pretty crazy how much it has blocked out with just the insulation and plywood. I still need to add some foam sound proofing to dampen more which I have ordered from China so may arrive in next 6 months some point :-SI had a jam with friends in it the other night and it really dampened the sound from outside. The double glazed doors were biggest help for this
Korbin Wilkes u can spend all the time and money in the world making your studio super cool and fun but if you don’t soundproof it, everything you record will have a lot of background noise in it and it’s hard to remove that during editing

I would just build a stronger shed with bigger floor joists, 2x4 studs, drywall and properly installed electrical outlets but as long as they are happy 😃 that is all that matters, best of luck with your music
Wow!! that's pretty cool that your mom was helping you build that, my mom would never help me do that let alone let me set all that up in that back yard. Some people just have cool parents I guess. 😉
It all depends on how much you want to spend and how good you are at DIY, calculating materials and abusing friends and family help! haha This project should cost between£1500-2000 but not done final calculations. The doors were ironically the most expensive part so far! But you can spend much less with cheaper materials then I used and obviously costs depend on size of shed. I still need to sound proof with foam and decorate. You can end up spending thousands more on the actual music equipment to go inside! I think I may have saved over £1000 by doing everything myself and not employed builders, electricians ect. Although my health has suffered but was fun to learn loads of new DIY tricks! I probably wasted over £200 on extra materials I didn't use which was frustrating but you live and learn! I can always use them on another project
Is it gonna be a music or video studio?! Will you have enough room for both equipment to be setup in permanence?Ps. I'd be envious if I wasn't that proud and happy for you

Prince Westerburg very good advice 🤘
Good point, I think in one of the earlier shots you can see that happening with the building already. Dunno why the floor wasn't looked at first?
I was thinking the same thing while watching this
he missed alot of things, this isnt a very good video or room
I might do these as well, any more of these types of advice a novice like me might not know??

Really kewl seeing u and your pops doing this together....the things we do for our kids
Studio wise you are golden Karl 👌🏻
haha thank you!
People usually go all drywall with their interior studio build but plywood somehow sweetens the room. Nice job!

Clean ang very cool ☺
Yessir, you have to love music and recording to go thru all that!!🎶🎶✊🏿much respect!!

I was already jealous of your guitar playing skills, now i'm jealous of your studio too! Nice work
That's astonishing mate! I cannot wait to see it completed, looks awesome, really great job!
This looks so awesome Karl! Glad you could build your own studio and everything is working so well for you Karl!
Thanks so much
I love this video, great to see it all come together. Thanks for doing this.

where is part two I can not find him anywhere. I was curious how it looks now
With all the efforts you've put into making a musician home studio, you are now ready for a construction yard
This is a great video! Your studio turned out amazing, nice work 👌
That looks amazing 👍🏽 Thank your for sharing your journey ☺️
Congrats! Nice job man! Hug from Brazil.
Watched every second of that. Great work!

Aaron Voborny did you do it?
Well done dude, this is so much work but I guess it's really rewarding once everything is set up :)
Turned out nice!
I wouldn't say it's a good idea to make your studio out of a shed because you're gonna hear more on the in- and outside.
the best parts are when we see him working alone after his friends left for the night. that's dedication.
Looks insane Karl 🤘🏻
Thank you Yusuf
Karl Golden It's always a great day when you upload a new video
Damn, so much work!!😎🤘🏻
GREAT job!!! It paid off well!
This is awesome! I am making a series on my first time building out a Dawless studio. Your build makes me feel inadequate lol!
Wow - this is really great! Thank you!
Looks mad mate...show us where the bar goes in Part 2....essential for all studios haha.
Nice space....cant wait to hear what you create in there.... ROCK ON!
haha oh yes need that!!! \m/
I'd be curious to see what level of sound it blocks out. Can you get a db meter and measure at different distances? :)

Best video on homemade studio you gave us inspirations man
I want to build a studio to record and so I stop annoying everyone in my house.. and tips or anything I should need to know before building?

Looks sooo cool!!!!
Man what the fudge did you do to that cabin... Ooo.. made a studio. Now I'm mad as heck... It looks DOPE.😀
ficou show meu amigo! falo daqui do Brasil - Ceara!!!
Awesome man!
You should put blocks under neath it so it won't rot the floor out again
Congrats bro!
nice job on the lighting.
Love your channel !
Still waiting to see how such a tiny room would be good for anything but an iso booth for vocals.
A whole lot of diffusers, broadband absorbers and bass traps could make a decent environment. It's a lot of $$$$ though
Wao good job! I like it so much!
Love this studio
Thank you
i'ts fucking amazing your studio!!
Thank you! Slowly getting there! \m/
Nice setup. But before you had put up the breathable membrane, why didn't you run your electrical first?
Nice man looks cool🤘🏼
Thank you Lorenzo

Retro Dude if I had the money of course

Fire extinguishers.. or how do they call them :-) i would buy at least a few. The rest looks awesome!
Karl Golden looks like he could be a member of Wolfmother

I was going to say the door is getting put in backwards then I seen the door swing open the right way and I was like okay it's good lmfao
Dope
You should have used ROCKWOOL over recticel , way more efficient. GOOD JOB THO.
What you used behind the wood? The white thing and the panels. What materials are those?
King
What are the dimensions of your cabin? Im thinking of doing something similar :)
What a cliffhanger!!
Why did you use plywood instead of drywall, and why did you cover the real wood floor with laminated flooring?
I'd have done a couple of things differently but it's ok!
Great job!!! ;)
How much would you estimate a project like this to cost?

Cool! Thx for the quick reply!

Thank you \m/
;)
you're the best ;)
wow
What material is this like panels which you place on the walls and roof?
Is it gonna be a music or video studio?! Will you have enough room for both equipment to be setup in permanence?Ps. I'd be envious if I wasn't that proud and happy for you
Mass Law gentlemen, Mass Law

Beautiful idea but..........How many square meters did you lose? Waiting second part.......
Christian G. Didn't lose much at all as insulation between the studs

Flashbacks of installing floors at my house...

What is the name of the first song please tell me
Like a Man Cave
Name of the song please ?
Is that 12’ x 8’ feet dimension cabin
I think you use to much carbet and that makes more small room
Umm... you put your doors on backwards, the hinges are supposed to be on the inside.
Tanya Adams haha I don’t think so! My Dad fits windows and doors for a living. Oh don’t want doors taking up space inside
And I'm be like don't have a proper bathroom 😢
You should have said. I'd have come and helped. Maybe...
haha yeah yeah....
