I bought a motorized TV lift a few years ago, but have given up watching TV and wasn't using it any more. You have given me a great solution as to what to do with it. Thanks.

You're welcome, avlisk. Check out my other videos that explain the construction of my Train Elevator in great detail. -- Russell

I am enjoying this video, only about 5 minutes in at this point but already wanted to comment.
I really like the elevator solution, great idea.

@@BethanyBranchLine Russel, I did get a chance to watch the rest of it. I am very interested to see some of the technology you are planning to add. I understand your layout design choices and I look forward to seeeing how you tackle them in real space and time.

I like your attitude, you have done lots since you built the elevator, very impressive, I started my new layout freelance, great work

Nice of you to say so, James. At one point, I though I was slacking by allowing my production of videos to take time away from constructing my layout. But then I began to realize how much I learned about my project in the process of making the videos in the form of details about my prototype and decisions about my design all necessary for moving forward with the build. So in a way, I have found what is for me a good balance between making the RR and communicating about it. Congrats on staring your new layout. I imagine your excitement. Cheers -- Russell

I don't know if I have ever seen a college town modeled yet- exiting! Should be great if the video quality and presentation are any indication.

Thanks for you generous comment, Cliff. Having lived in the college town myself, I will have fond remembrances to motivate my modeling, including recreations of the house we lived in, church we worshipped in, store we shopped at, and place where I taught. -- Russell

I can't wait to see this layout. i'll be keeping up with the process, and can't wait for some good running sessions.

While having a plan is a beautiful thing, this plan is so focused and so detailed, could you be setting yourself up for failure and frustration? I prefer to have a very loose drawing and let the rest of the track evolve over time and grow as my skill level grows. Times change and ideas change so this will definately change over time. I would love to see where you are in 6 months. I'm loooking forward to seeing the progress. Good luck and good health to you.......

Rock Island, you make a good point. This is my first model railroad, so I don't have my own model railroading experience to draw upon. However, I do have that of others, whom I have studied intently through about four years of reading and viewing. I am not afraid of making mistakes, because that is how I learn. I learned a great deal from building and dismantling a small test layout. I anticipate continuing to learn from missteps in the BBL build. I hope to document those missteps for others to learn from -- Russell

@@BethanyBranchLine I can say that because I am exactly in your shoes. I have just retired and gotten into a hobby that I have watched for years and always thought that someday I would do it and, like you, I am doing it. I don't call them mistakes, it's just that you found another way of doing something that dosen't work, that's all. LOL..........

Oh wow, I was confused because I see actual trains on an actual layout and figure this was already built. There's a LOT here. It seems well thought out. I'm curious how it'll look once it's built, if it'll looks as busy as the plan or if it'll be divided up in a way that helps figure things out. Maybe just seeing it in person will clear that up.
That said, I'm going to sub on my non-work account to see where this goes. I definitely don't know anything about Arduinos and don't really feel the urge to learn about it, but seeing what you've done with them so far leads me to believe you seem capable.
