The strategy is simple in essence: Assassins everywhere. But I use a few little tricks and good micro to get through everything. The early waves are slightly random, but I can usually pull them off, with a few stunts sometimes. The key is to not call stuff early, so Alric doesn't have to deal with a pileup of Greenfins on the bottom left. Also, I realised I could use the Rain of Fire right before calling wave 3, so that I would have it up again earlier.
You might also wonder 'why not Bonehart', and I will gladly refer you to the later waves, where there are a lot of lone Bluegales and Redspines, which Bonehart is not good against. I also put the rally point of the bottom left Assassins in a spot that would reach one subpath of the land-based path to the exit, which helped a lot.
During the video, if you didn't yet know about Sneak Attack's instakill chance, you will probably realise why I picked Assassins - they're just so good against large enemies without area attacks. The thing they struggle with most is masses of small, armoured enemies, such as wave 13: a bunch of Deviltides everywhere. This wave was just pure evil, and I might have been able to do a little better by selling one set of Assassins at the top for a Mecha, but then I would have needed to get the Assassins back for wave 14, and that would also have been nasty. Instead, I went for clutch Rain of Fire and a clutch Shrine of Regnos upgrade.
The boss itself is the final nasty thing in the level, because you have so little damage output and you cannot hold off the bottom left for very long while also using spells on the boss. So I had to sell, to get a Totem of Weakness, and some other DPS, in order to immediately use Rain of Fire and two shots of Shrine of Regnos on the boss, with Totem of Weakness. I wanted the Totem to be ready when the boss wave started, which is why I sold a little early. I believe Archmage with maxed Critical Mass is just a bit better DPS than Crossbow Fort with maxed Barrage, but I could be wrong. Crossbow Fort also got distracted by the Greenfins on the top right too much.

Cool challenge, it just reminded me of a challenge I was attempting a month ago similar to this one and the frustration on the boss wave with the enemies getting through just a few seconds before the boss dies
Yeah that definitely happened in previous attempts haha.

I think you wanted to write "Archmage" instead of "Crossbow Fort".

In other words, 'One reason for picking Archmage over Crossbow Fort was the DPS. The second was the Crossbow Fort getting distracted.' So no, I actually did mean the Crossbow Fort. I tried it before with a Crossbow, and Falconer just gave it too much range, and it stopped firing at the boss.
why didnt you get the money upgrades for your assassins in the beginning? theyre doing most of the damage, you probably would have made it back
I didn't really need money, since I'm not spending very much. And the early waves are pretty difficult, so I thought I was better off spending the starting gold on damage.
Do you need to buy the sneak attack upgrade for the assassins to do the instakill?

Nah, not nearly as insane as they are here. Instakills are worse the more enemies there are, and the rest of Frontiers has so much fodder. The rest of Frontiers also has way more anti barracks enemies.
