Was just there in Sept and spent soo much time around that area and Canary Wharf. Two great places with very cool buildings. I would say London is 2nd to Tokyo tho for me.
My challenge is living in Las Vegas. Yes the casinos are spectacular especially with all that neon lighting surrounding it. But of course with it is security waiting to pounce on you when you whip out your camera. There are only a select few places on the strip that let you take pictures to your heart’s content.
I have the Sony A7RV, which are best G Master lens suited to architecture photography? I only have the 16-35mm GM and 24-70mm GM and 24mm GM prime, anything else you recommend? What do you think of the 12-24 GM?
@ 6:13 the photo might have benefitted from a bit of vertical straightening but otherwise it's a nice shot and a helpful video! I think that new security concerns are hampering a lot of us that like to shoot buildings. Here in the US I believe that as long as you are standing on a public street and what you are photographing is not behind a wall and is generally visible from public space, you are within your rights to shoot it. If anyone knows differently, let us know?
I really enjoyed this as my first video i have watched about Architectural photography, though i too did wonder about how he managed to do all he did with NO interference from police or security ?
Hello Adorama, I do sincerely thank you for all your valuable tips and I wish you all the best. I am an amateur photographer and I want to turn pro. I'm basically interested in still imagery, namely Architecture and Decoration. I'm using T5i but I want to upgrade to pro level and I'm considering moving to Sony Mirrorless full frame. Is moving to Sony Mirrorless a good decision? Or investing in 5D MIII and EF lenses, or moving to Nikon D800 something? What would you recommend? Thanks again for all your tips and for your advice in advance. Regards.
If you own or part own a property like a flat in a tower block eg and it’s considered to be iconic enough to be frequently used in music videos and fashion shoots etc can the owner copyright his own property and ask for image rights if used? Thanks
I don´t think he’s going to answer, so I will. I guess you're going for the traditional style that he's teaching? If so, then your focus you should be at infinity.
Infectedstyles well, your comment suggests you would be no good at teaching a child good behaviour, perhaps it's a good thing you don't have children then. 😋
ND to allow longer exposure, migjt be able to make some moving humans "disappear" i guess. Graduated ND in case there is very big drop off in light. (Just my opinion :))
If I were shooting tall building, I wouldn't be using a 35mm camera. I would be using my 4x5 view camera, it's much easier to correct the tilt shift in the buildings. You must not own your equipment with all the missing rear lens caps..!!
Chord progression in the music is exactly the same as Lil Wayne's Mirror. So are we looking in the mirror as we watch, or is he saying that the lens is actually just a mirror? A mirror of the soul?! His pictures mirror his soul. hmmmm
Thanks for the great video! One more hint. With mirrorless cameras like Sony A6000 one can turn almost any full frame DSLR lens into tilt-shift lens. I use old nikon lenses with manual aperture on my A6000 camera to shoot architecture. Here is Kipon tilt-shift adapter for Sony camera to nikon lenses www.adorama.com/KATSNKGNEX.html
you give in clarity and passion what you lack in fluidity, thank you for the inspiration !
The lenses without back caps in the bag ? I shivered a little...
Many thanks for the vid: most instructive. Suggestion: the camera-man needs to keep the video camera still because I felt sea sick

I could do that all day! Especially in London, looks awesome.
I do and my feet hurt all the time lol
Very informative. I have viewed it several times and pick up points each time.
Anyone notice how the "24mn F1.4" is a 17-35?
Awesome, optimized info... Clear, short, simple, and to the point!! Thank you!
Great tips, thanks for putting this together. What backpack do you have? I really like it.
Very informative video, thanks for sharing
Great video, thanks Doug and Adorama.
I never thought of using a tripod. In the old film days we hand held a lot. I do like the KISS. So true.
Well presented and lots of tips I'll be looking for more

Great video - I see others have asked but What backpack do you have? I really like it.
Great video, I'll be passing this on to my customers..... I might also add the 3 P's of photography (Planning, Preparedness, and Patients).......
Inspirational as usual, thanks Doug.
I really enjoyed this as my first video i have watched about Architectural photography, though i too did wonder about how he managed to do all he did with NO interference from police or security ?
Try it in Birmingham and see if you manage to get home with your camera bag?
Correct me if I am wrong, but is the use of a tripod not illegal in London?
I bought a fisheye lens on ebay
I love to look at buildings
Great tips. I'll try these next time I'm in a city.
Your videos provide very useful tips and insights. Thank you

Thank you Doug and Adorama team, very helpful. Thumbs up.
Hi Doug, very informative video. I would like to ask you a question. Where do I focus while doing architectural photography?

Great video!
That 2 seconds timer tip.. it does make a difference
Which backpack are u using? Thanks
Thank you for the video!
This is the first comment I have ever given. I enjoyed this episode very much , thank you. Christine A.
Well done. That heavy bag is a bit of an advertisement for mirrorless, though.
nice detailed video
Great ideas!
"Cost more than your first born" lol. Thanks for the vid.
If I had a kid, I'd trade it for some sweet lens. At least the lens is useful and won't wreck my house.
Infectedstyles well, your comment suggests you would be no good at teaching a child good behaviour, perhaps it's a good thing you don't have children then. 😋
very nice
OK, I'm confused. Why would you want to use a neutral density filter for architectural photography?
ND to allow longer exposure, migjt be able to make some moving humans "disappear" i guess. Graduated ND in case there is very big drop off in light. (Just my opinion :))
so sweet music
Thank you great Stuff !

It seems like Doug really likes HDR pictures
Does it matter?
Michael Espeland To Doug hit does.
I have a 50mm f1.8 lense.. can it be used fr architecture photography??
24-70mm is out of my budget
You can literally use whatever you have.
To be able to have tiny pauses before he speaks and getting clear on his point, I can hear this guy talk for days :)
What is this, a glich or something ? everytime moves the camera, I see stripes
qpae123 it's your computer or you were having a migraine then. The video was perfect for me.
Look at 0:49
qpae123 no stripes mate
@Melvin On what device and Resolution you watch ?
qpae123 1440p on iPad

The music in the end was so sad :(
All those heavy lenses in that bag do you need a crane to carry that with you lol... Comical!
The cameraman needs to stop drinking in the day :(
please ask your videographer to not move
that music is annoying
