A few years ago, I was extremely overweight. Candace is 1000% correct that it hurts. I felt sad, sluggish, and irritable constantly. Losing 150lbs improved my physical and mental health in ways I could never have anticipated. I didn't realize how uncomfortable I was in my skin. It frustrates me to see this acceptance of unhealthy living. No one wants to admit that over eating is an addiction like any other. Be healthy, be safe, give a damn about yourself.

I too lost 150lbs over several years. I had ups and downs over that time. I was 260 when my cardiologist (hint, hint) told me to drop 20lbs, so I dropped 60 in a year. I've stuck to 200 +/- 10 for four years now. I walk 10mi per day so I cut myself some slack with food (have to). I don't do it because it's fun but after, I feel like I really accomplished something. When I was 350, I couldn't do a mile if my life depended on it (it did).

When Lizzo bragged on stage that she's "beautiful" and all the audience cheered... that's how you know they know it's NOT true. Because, when an ACTUAL beautiful woman brags about being beautiful, we recognize how prideful and self-absorbed it sounds. No one applauds at that. They applaud Lizzo because they celebrate collective delusion.

exactly, beautiful people dont have to run around telling themselves or others that they are beautiful. Matter of fact most of us that are considered beautiful (on the outside because thats what most people only see) we'd rather hide because not all the attention that comes from it, is nice or fun or glamorous at all. It can be downright scary. So no one would ever hear me running around ever saying, "im beautiful" and just waiting for everyone to cheer and applaud it. Hell, even writing this comment is out of character and I already feel like a douche for doing so.

My two year old daughter and I have hand me down matching dresses and I decided we’d dress alike to go to an Art Walk downtown. I did not expect so many people to notice and compliment us. The thing that frustrates me about Lizzo, and the Body Positivity Movment as a whole, is that it’s not about the average person who looks different.
They don’t care about cheering for people with scars, disabilities, or just average sized bodies. It’s all for obesity.

I feel that should Lizzo decide she wants to lose weight and slim down, she’ll get hated, shamed and possibly shunned for “fat phobia”, when it is literally just a personal choice. It so crazy now that unless you affirm and accept obesity as “factually” healthy, you are seen as presenting hatred.
It’s funny to me how ridiculous these mass opinions on obesity and body positivity are changing now. I saw an actual licensed therapist who said if you make the choice to “lose that 20 pounds” you are being fat-phobic. The idea that a conscious choice to lose some weight, that does not affect anyone other than myself, has somehow affected or offended an entire community whose motto is health and body positivity is astounding.
It seems unless I’m fat and happy, I’m fat-phobic. Forget fit/healthy and happy, changing the way I look for myself shows that I don’t really love myself, or something…
I mean that leads into cosmetic surgery and I don’t think anyone wants to go there, because then we could call out the hypocrisy of what so many people try to call fat-phobic.
“Fat Acceptance” truly is a nightmare movement. I didn’t wake up one morning and say oh I’ve always wanted to be fat. I became fat over time and would like to not be fat. And for someone to try and tell me changing my weight makes me a horrible person. I have nothing more to say to them.

"Did they have to get the William Howard Taft bathtub" OW! OW! That was brutal! 😮
My wife passed away five years ago from complications of obesity. She "let herself go" after we married, and basically had the attitude of "if you love me, you'll love me as I am." She would become furious if anyone expressed any concern about her weight, and thought the doctor was being bigoted when he put "morbid obesity" as her main issue in her charts. (She once was surfing the internet for fun animal facts and unironically said, "oh look, I'm the same weight as a baby elephant!" without realizing how terrible that was.) Eventually she contracted a MRSA UTI infection that shut her immune system down, and a virus slipped in and attacked her brain. She slipped into a coma after a week and passed away two weeks later.
We need to stop saying "it's ok to be fat" and "be body positive" whatever your weight is. If you are concerned about a loved one's weight, you should be allowed to express your concern without being called a "fat shamer". It's horrible to watch someone kill themselves that way; this is basically a slow form of suicide.

Hearing the hard truth so often on the platforms I listen to while at work; here at the Daily Wire, Joe Rogan, Mike Rowe, etc, has really motivated me more than I was aware of. I’m fine with being body positive, as long as people also recognize the real discomfort, mental and physical, that exists from being even mildly overweight. In other words, recognize that where you are now is what it is but is not necessarily good for you nor is it a permanent state of being. Body positive to me means separating a temporary condition from your worth, which is often ideal. If you don’t love yourself, you won’t take care of yourself. You’ll eat your feelings or do other things, as you are inclined, and wind up worse. It is that discomfort that we are trying to help people avoid, a symptom rather than a root cause, that is meant to be a stimulus to change. Many have been like this since their youth and don’t know how free their bodies can feel and young people don’t see the major consequences until later down the line, further exacerbating the problem. It's so cool to see Candace Owens on your show. She's a conservative force to be reckoned with.
0:55 I've dealt with this myself. I tend to hide my conservative views in online communities because I know they won't be tolerated. I have found tolerance in a few leftists over the years, but I never anticipate finding it.
7:29 As someone who used to be morbidly obese (pushing 400 lbs.), I can tell you that I was not happy. My feet and legs were swollen, I had such bad sleep apnea that my parents feared for my life, and I was very depressed. I've lost about 90 lbs. so far (I obviously still have more to lose), and I feel so much better.

Don’t be too hard on the evangelical who mostly think they are saving you from yourself by thinking for you. At least their intent is fundamentally helpful. Every person should exercise a healthy dose of skepticism. Many journalists haven’t and look where that got them. You should check out anyone who approaches topics of interest, no matter which side of the aisle. One, it’ll give you a view to how other people think. It will also, perhaps, spark an idea for how you believe, think or feel about a topic and knowing that is half the battle.

She isn’t skinny but also not overweight, in fact she seems quite fit and lives an active lifestyle that focuses on trying to be as mentally and physically well as possible. She seems super down to earth on this perspective, in fact her mentality has helped pull me out of an eating disorder. If you are overweight, of course you should love yourself, but what makes you YOU isn't what is on the outside and if you love who you are inside, then the work you put in to yourself to get healthy will make you even stronger than ppl who don't have to lose weight. ❤

As someone who has struggled with her weight for a long time, i think you two don’t totally understand how hard it is to lose weight. I have never been « obese », i came close and the lost 10kg which brought me back in the « normal » bmi , i have gained like 3kgs back which put me back in the overweight category. Anyway what i meant to say is that losing weight AND keeping it off is really really hard. And you are right when you eat too much everyday its because you are unhappy, however during my weight loss journey i also was unhappy. Its been more than a year now and i still weigh myself everyday, i always count calories in my head everyday. I struggle a lot. I want to lose weight (even tho i have been eating relatively healthy for a year and half now and i am not in danger fir my health) but I dont want to add a big worry to my life and i think thats what thin people don’t really get. When you never really gained weight (not including pregnancy) you don’t really know how hard it is to gain and to lose. A constant battle. Of course promoting obesity is stupid

If you are in the healthy range, that may be just where your body wants to be. Not everyone is built to be at the low end of healthy weight for their size. Maybe focus on toning muscle w/o needing to weigh less. That's what I aim for nowadays (I'm not small either), and I tend to look 20 lbs lighter than I actually am.

    • @TheBaumcm
      @TheBaumcm Год назад

Losing weight is hard when you don’t have support, are unrealistic about time or are too restrictive, or when your mindset isn’t one of a lifestyle change. I say this as someone who has been overweight by about 30 to 50 pounds for over 15 years, and who has lost 30. My first 20 were lost with a simple 2-3 mile (whatever my knees could handle) walk every night with my husband and loosely tracking using the Fitbit app. It was easy BECAUSE it was a fundamental lifestyle change, I did it with my husband, and it was easy to keep consistent.
I would also note, weight isn’t a great marker for health alone. I am an over 40 female with a large chest and heavier musculature. My BMI is nowhere near accurate and like the other responder tend to look about 10 lbs lighter because of muscle being much more heavy per volume( dense) than fat. Size is also difficult since water retention can cause problems. I’m going for how I feel and what I can do. I try to dress in a manner that I feel comfortable rather than forcing my body to a size.
