    Wow Anya.
I’m not sure where this fits but sharing because you inspire me.
On a mission trip to the DR I was captivated by the life of the males. Not that I didn’t notice the women too, but I also had teens in my care. Any way…
We were able to meet the brother and sister we sponsored for the prior couple years. The girl was 13 super sweet and got a ride to the school from friends on a moped (No idea if that is spelled right) but her brother had to walk there. It was over 3 miles from the field he was working in, and he was 6. He was not real happy to meet us and after the brief exchange he walked back to work.
I realized that he essentially lost wages to come see us, tired himself out walking 6 miles so some American could smile at him and say hello. I felt terrible.
The other image which came to my mind is of the older men, maybe in their 60’s but their bodies were so broken down from years of hard labor. The gaze in their eyes was distant as they felt the burden of no longer producing while being another mouth to feed. These two males were at opposite ends of the economical spectrum in the DR, yet without speaking the language or even asking the questions I got it.
You, Anya, get it in terms of masculine and feminine. I will be praying that your audience increases, especially with women because the power y’all wield is extraordinary when applied as you teach.
Keep going! Keep running this race!

I never really thought about it like the stages you described, but it makes a lot of sense. I just crossed into the King stage and it’s exactly as you laid out. Also, I had a GF in my late teens early 20’s who wouldn’t understand that I needed the adventure you described, so we had to break up. I remember telling her that joining the Army was something I need to do for myself, but she wanted me to follow her to go to the same college together. However, this was almost repulsive to me at the time because I felt like she was trying to hold me back from the risk I felt I needed to take. Fast forward a few years, and I met my wife at age 24 (now married 17 years and together 20). She signed up for the experience and has truly been my ride or die ever since.
