  • Let me share my insulation disaster story with you. Sometime the best laid plans turn out horrifically bad. I used blown-in cellulose insulation for my non-vented cathedral ceiling in my shop. It turns out the ammonium sulfate fire retardant in the insulation off-gasses ammonia when in a high humidity environment. After trying multiple things to reduce the humidity levels, I finally came to the conclusion that the only way to get rid of the ammonia was to completely remove the cellulose insulation from my shop. With $1000 wasted and 3 weeks of my life lost, I'm back to square one.
