I didn't mind the actors for Aang (not as kid-like like he was in the show though), Sokka (seemed more mature in the movie but was ok) and Iroh (Skinny but pulled off the Badass Iroh pretty well) The rest was just like wtf

I am really curious on how they will do 2 and 3 if this works. I imagine they would be set for preproduction right after it is does well. They kid will be 13-14 by the summer. They might have to change the story up a bit where its not just a few months but maybe a couple of years.
You can make many stories, movies and series off of the avatar universe seeing as there were many avatars, legends, wars and millions of benders whose stories have never been told.
I think Aang looks very Asian. Not all Asians have yellow skin and squinty eyes. In fact, I often find that their eyes are larger than most white peoples'. Not to mention, Aang lives in a world where people dress like Asians, eat like Asians, and live in Asian homes. Why wouldn't it be populated by Asian people?
Oh yeah and Shaymalan is a great director, thing is you need to go into his movies with an open mind and the desire to take some hidden message out of his movies. Otherwise, you will see his movies as a complete waste of time.
"Bad doesn't have a demographic." The Avatar series PROVED this. It was made for kids, but it's so good that adults can enjoy it too! The movie was just bad, because it was simply BAD! Poor actors and poor script! I mean, I wouldn't mind so much if the Firebenders need fire to bend, that's an ok thought - but it was horribly executed! Not to mention, the earthpeople uprising ni the movie. 5 Guys to slowly levitate a rock, and 1 guy to throw it... 5 gusy in the show could throw TANKS around! O.o
May i recomend "EWW Avatar the last airbender" (Everythnig wrong with.) And Nsotalgia Critics review of the movie? It won't erase your memory, but it will make you laugh - and laugh is the best medecine! ;D

No Aang is not Asian, he is a buddhist, and they can be from any culture. Aang doesn't even come off as Asian in the first place anyways.
The special effects wasn't bad, but damn M.Knight killed the storyline. IK it was suppose to be a kids movie but even they knew the acting sucked.
