I might be incorrect in this thought but. The reason it is Hollow on the inside of the wall. Is because both the inner and outer wall are armored. They are meant to stop small caliber rounds, and if a round would go through the first, it would stop at the second as spaced armor.
I might be wrong but that is, to my knowledge, why it was made like that.

There's also the concerns of weight and cost I imagine. Rather than have one thick plate they have two thiner ones which would be enough for civilian small arms and ammo.

Originally marbles were made of well marble..... Currently the majority are made of glass

Marbles can be made out of lots of things...usually it's glass but back in the old days they were made of stone and clay, you can get marbles made of metal as well but they aren't that common to have over the cheaper glass and agate ones...marbles and dice are two of the OLDEST games in the world. I fell down a rabbit hole of looking up info on marbles after I became a little obsessed with the game "Gob Stones" from Harry Potter...it's basically wizard marbles, just the marbles spit the losing player with a foul smelling liquid when they lose a point. I was trying to find out what they were made of and fell down a marble research rabbit hole lol. I also remember PLAYING marbles with my maternal grandmother who was born in 1941 so when I was a kid her and my grandpa...who was born in the late 1930s would play marbles when my mom went to work and she left me with her parents who had day jobs while my mom worked at a chicken processing plant on the late shift.

if i remember the lore everyone is genetically enhanced to use those Firefly model suits but of course it has its downsides as our girl explained. Funny enough we don't even know her real name or if she ever have one (most likely have like a test subject # or ID number) once (most likely) everyone died and she is the only survivor she named herself firefly and in her suit SAM (stands for Strategic Assault Mech)
