Their music is absolutely timeless without a shadow of doubt. It's quite amazing to think that people would still be able to listen to this music hundreds of years from now (assuming we don't destroy ourselves and the planet by then :P )
Fortunately for us - and future generations - good music doesn't date. Jeff Lynne was no slouch as a sound engineer, hence the fidelity of the tracks; Vocals, guitars, the classical elements....fantastic songs recorded brilliantly.....Stunning.
I feel the complete same way. My dad introduced me to them (along with dire straits) it's so uplifting. Puts me in an instant great mood! Back when music was real lyrics and instruments
For graduation in 1977 in Hollywood CA my mom and dad bought me a Dashon 200sx and I wore ELO with my compact cassette in Griffth Park getting stoned Listening to Turn to Stone.
My best childhood memories include ELO music. Love them and always will, I'm 25 and I'm so proud that despite that a LOT of my friends only know about "modern music", I grew up with this music and enjoy it.
I Want To Thank Y'all For Bringing Back The Music I Love So Much By ELO I Love Country Music But Don't Take Away My Steely Dan,Kansas,Atlanta Rhythm Section But Do Not Take Away My ELO Cause That Is The Number One Band In America And So Are The Osmonds And The Jacksons But ELO Rocks Out Y'all.
This song is why I formed a turtle stomping fetish in the 70's and 80s. "I turtle stomp when you are gone, I turtle stomp!" I wish they had enunciated more clearly.
No matter you ran out of ideas for the video, still this band will always rock and the song! Nothing will ever replace the music from the 70's, some good times and wonderful music thank you for posting a true classic.
And not a one of them is from me- because this i one of my favorites of ELO. Grew up with the band on the radio. Thanks for the great memories. Mike in Fresno, Ca.
I can remember this album as clear as day. ELO into the blue. It was the first album i ever bought with my money. There were a lot of good songs on this album. I played this song so many times i actually wore out the needle of my brothers turntable. It was a sansui turntable with a marantz receiver, with the big pioneer cabinet speakers. What a simple time to live, Thanks for sharing this.
ELO... man... reminds me of high school, I hated high school.... but loved this music, and believe it or not, listening to these guys and all the others was my escape! I own the movie Xanadu, my all time favorite movie! Foreigner, BOC, Styx, Heart, Cheap Trick, just to name a few. Thank you uploader! ;0)
A friend turned me on to ELO and I can't stop listening to their music now! It's amazing, I didn't think that anybody else in my school liked music like this, and I'm glad I became friends with him and he introduced me to ELO. (:
AS a former Trucker i rolled a many a mile listening to ELO , and this makes me wanna get back out there and do what i do best . Hubby dont wanna run OTR any more but if possible i plan to go back to it and have ELO along for the ride .
Hey Libbie & Archie!! Thanks for uploading this ELO tune...I listen to ELO and 70's stuff on Sundays (especially old American Top 40 reruns w/Casey Casem Helps to decompress and unwind after a hard weeks work... ;~} ... o and btw, HUGE congrats on your jumping horse today...I subscribed to a few of the ones you subscribed to so I can check their uploads as well when I get rich and Famous and buy my horse ranch in Malibu ...woohoo!!!!
Loved ELO. Also enjoyed their creative LP Record assembled model. Jeesh: I miss the LP days! It was like a Surprise Package: An Album & an additional surprise!
@technocrash09 You are very astute! I also agree; Time was not only my favorite ELO work, but in my opinion the most underrated album ever! It's encouraging , however, that I've read from several sources that it is highly regarded as one of the top 10 concept albuums in rock history. Read somewhere that Jeff Lynne was disappointed that Time wasn't better received by public in general. a brilliant album!
This is (seriously) first ever song I heard on vinyl, I was 5 back then (89). I wasn`t allowed to touch my fathers HiFi but I was a clever beast and managed to turn it on when my parents were in work. I chose ELO because of the Flying Saucer on the cover and Turn to Stone came out first...love it to this day.
I had this album. Wore it out. Side B was incredible. "Concerto for a Rainy day" Thanks for putting this up. I'll have buy all my ELO music again... digi. ;D
I have Out of the Blue on vinyl, and while I wasn't too impressed at first, it really grew on me. I'd have to say it's better then the likes of ELO II or OtTD, although I personally like those two albums more. More clear, put-together and melodic. Absolutely a blast to listen to, and Concerto for A Rainy day cannot be beat.
@ShellTrek Yes indeed! I have always been a big LP collector and I have a few ELO albums in my collection. Albums were much more fun than plastic CD's.
A timeless hi-fi classic. Sweet lyrics and otherworldly sound. Totally unique and in a class by itself, this fucking group...you can always tell when it's ELO. Check them out in real old school headphones--eargasms guaranteed!
@learue8 It was most certainly a compliment. If you type in "John Lennon and ELO" into the search bar,you will come across an audio clip of John on some radio show where he's doing an intro for the Showdown record, which he declares a "great record" and refers to them as a "nice group" and calls them "son of beatles".He obviously was a fan.
does anyone else think this band was wayyyy ahead of there time? They are so freakin musically creative, far more complex than most bands of their time. go ELO!
@kesha8869 and also confusion and turn to stone..what a great songs!have you seen the concert with live violins on dvd elo with blue ufo label..amazing! greetings from prague. :)
Cuando cumplí 21 (1982) mi hermano me regalo el disco de acetato con los mejores exitos de ELO. Nunca lo olvidare, es de lo mejor de la música que he escuchado
Hey everyone :) Nice to be seeing so many people enjoying these amazing musical and vocal talents still. I'm going to be uploading afew more so check out my other videos.
The article "5 People Cheated Out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. #2 is Jeff Lynn from ELO, and it specifically mentions this song. I've loved this song forever, but I had no idea that they have been shafted by the RaRHoF.
hey i actually just did, absolutely one of my favs, and this one is right with it, along with holy shit, fuck it, ELO freagin rules, i've been listening to them since i was like 11 maybe 12, the talent of Jeff Lynne and the rest is just so damn unsurpassed!! i'll always love these great tunes!
@smackenurjunk I agree. When i finally got a chance to music id this song with my phone i was expecting it to be queen but was supprise to find out that it was this group. I have heard this song at the supermarkets and alwayse wanted to know who it was but couldn't find it since i was searching queens stuff.
I think their music still sounds relevant today. They were definitely under appreciated.
+Tim Allen Oh yes. They are!!! Jeff is a genius!
+Tim Allen absolutely timeless
Under appreciated ? They were huge.
Their music is absolutely timeless without a shadow of doubt. It's quite amazing to think that people would still be able to listen to this music hundreds of years from now (assuming we don't destroy ourselves and the planet by then :P )
Fortunately for us - and future generations - good music doesn't date. Jeff Lynne was no slouch as a sound engineer, hence the fidelity of the tracks; Vocals, guitars, the classical elements....fantastic songs recorded brilliantly.....Stunning.
its interesting, i've never heard of ELO, but listening to their songs, it seems like i've been listening to them for my whole life
+dimsumboy22 yes it is so, very goood comment from yours god save you
I feel the complete same way.
My Mom and Dad let me pick my 10th birthday present....Out of the Blue was it. I can't help but think I chose wisely.
This song takes me back to when I was negative three years old. You should have seen me out on the tiles, grooving on the dance floor.
My best childhood memories include ELO music. Love them and always will, I'm 25 and I'm so proud that despite that a LOT of my friends only know about "modern music", I grew up with this music and enjoy it.
When I turned 21 (1982), my brother gave me the acetate disc with the best ELO hits. I'll never forget it, it's the best of the music I've heard
Another ELO classic that has been playing on the Wurlitzer in my brain for nearly 35 years. What a wonderful contribution to modern music.
This song is why I formed a turtle stomping fetish in the 70's and 80s. "I turtle stomp when you are gone, I turtle stomp!" I wish they had enunciated more clearly.
hilarious!
lol
+inasez no turtles were harmed in the making of this comment
+inasez only if you were wearing winkle pickers
+inasez 9/10 I had a good chuckle.
I've listened to ELO all my life. And they are FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!
No matter you ran out of ideas for the video, still this band will always rock and the song! Nothing will ever replace the music from the 70's, some good times and wonderful music thank you for posting a true classic.
This is a band I would love to see live. I just turned 40 and grew up listening to them

wow nearly 100k views i just want this amazing band to still get the recognition they still deserve TODAY.
Good times brings back a lot of good memories
FEEL GOOD MUSIC. THE HARMONIZATION IS AWESOME!
The music from the 70's is the absolute best in my opinion. There's nothing today that hold a candle to most of these bands.
And not a one of them is from me- because this i one of my favorites of ELO. Grew up with the band on the radio. Thanks for the great memories. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

A friend turned me on to ELO and I can't stop listening to their music now! It's amazing, I didn't think that anybody else in my school liked music like this, and I'm glad I became friends with him and he introduced me to ELO. (:
Jeff Lynne is the one of the greatest music producers to ever live.
I don't know why this song popped up in my brain after probably 35 years later. Thanks God we have RUclips.
This is a great song and good melody top notch. A very enjoyable and great listening ELO one of the top bands ever.
AS a former Trucker i rolled a many a mile listening to ELO , and this makes me wanna get back out there and do what i do best . Hubby dont wanna run OTR any more but if possible i plan to go back to it and have ELO along for the ride .
Wow time flies. I remember my denim jacket, with my Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon patch sewn on the back. ELO rocks!

Simplemente Elo.
Sois increíbles, me alegra saber que no soy el único sobre la faz de la tierra al que le gusta Elo.
I luved ELO: I even kept their album intact ( The Spaceship Cut-Out ).
Remember when Music Albums came with: Posters, Panties, Zippers, etc.?
