I heard this on the radio with new ears for the first time this week and I'm so moved by and impressed with this classical orchestrated rock anthem. I grew up with this band in the background and took for granted the immense talent and beauty of their sound. This song has got such vocal range and a tight knit conglomeration of styles. It's got lust, longing, tenderness, passion, beauty, masculinity, love, psychedelic imagery, and the nostalgia of the simpler era of the 70's. I feel lucky to have grown up with this music and it's still so enjoyable to hear, sing along to, and dance to. I love this song and I'm thrilled to hear more of Jeff's songs with new ears. The video is extraordinary and captures something incredible.
I've been listening to ELO since I was 14, much older now, but MORE APPRECIATIVE of Jeff Lynne and all of the band!! They always look like they're having a great time with one another, while entertaining us! AWESOME BAND!! One of the best songs I've ever heard, too!
Besides playin great songs perfectly, the recording quality of any ELO album really sounded good on my stereo back in the day. I was a teenager in the ‘70’s and my budget wasn’t big for car stereo equipment but if you wanted your MindBlower speakers to impress someone, this tune or MaMa Bell would get it done! I still remember where the 8track changed channels on many of those old tapes. Wedge a match book in the slot with the cartridge to keep it from dragging. Puff puff pass in my 67 Chevelle. Now I’m a Grandpa, jammin on Goofy doing the Hot Dog song. Life’s a trip and mines been good, I hope yours is too! (Watching this video made me a little nostalgic 😀)
Have this song on an album of The Move. They leave out I HEARD THE POLICE PLAYING WITH THEIR GUNS. guess cuz bobbies don't have em.. or it wasn't legal to say back then. Lol. ELO has always been my favorite band. From solo albums. To other things like the Traveling Wilburys. Jeff is a genius

Played a string bass in an orchestra in junior and high school in the 70's. Then ELO came out that integrated rock and strings into the music. Loved them then and throughout the years. Finally saw them in Portland in 2019. Still have the New World Record CD in my car's player.
1971`, and this guy was already far ahead of the pack, 50yrs plus ahead. Incredible talent. Jeff & Tom are the top two talent`s amongst the Wilburys. In my humble opinion.
This is what today's music lacks big time, creativity, ELO was a one of a kind band that no one has ever thought that rock and orchestra would work together
There is tons of creative music being released right now; you can (rightly) point out ELO's greatness without slagging off music you likely know little-to-nothing about!

That is I'd like to save you for a rainy day
I've seen enough of the world to know
That I've got to get it all to get it all to grow
C'mon now!

I need it!
(Do ya, do ya want my mind?)
I want it!
(Do ya, do ya want my love?)
Ohhh look out!
Do ya, do ya want my love?
Do ya, do ya want my love?
Oh, oh
