Where in the charcuterie world are you? Are you a coarse and burly kielbasa or a mighty Thuringer? A delicate saucisson sec or a bold and spicy dry salchicón? A massive yet refined forcemeat like mortadella or a humble hot dog?
If arturia combined the digital elements of this (and add sampling) with the analog and expressiveness of the PB12 that would be an endless sound design machine!
I love my MF. It probably gets more action than any other synth in my setup rn. It just sounds so good and the feature set is second to none. Really is a joy to interact with. If they put out a full size version it would be a hit I’m sure. Especially if they added some more analog bits like VCOs and an additional VCF. But as it stands I’d pick this any day over any of the competition. Though the orange Hydra explorer is really cute. Can we have more fun colored synths please?
Hey a bit of cold leftover sausage is quite nice when you’re hanging - watch this space and also yeah imho there is a lot to explore already with the samples provided.
There is a difference between how the microfreak updates and syncs and how the minifreak works. The microfreak could expand on existing features of the midi software, yet the minifreak V has no such feature built in (yet?) I would say trust and patience ^^.
Does Skan have a dedicated grain size and or density parameter? Modulating the frequency of grain onset with a constant scan rate (eg with an envelope) can create an interesting confusion of pitch and timbre.
The sample engine is justr an oscillator in the first oscillator bank. So you can choose it as a sound source instead of the Vanalog, HarmX or any of the others
Do you ever find yourself having to use your nose to press the hold button because you're using all your fingers to play the keys? Because i definitely do. These are great. My slight disappointment about a lack of sample loading is set aside when i realize how distant anything sounds from its source anyway, and that they presumably picked the samples for a wide variety of sounds. Excited to update to these.
They didn’t introduce USER Samples on MicroFreak, like this, did they? … ie first ‘Samples’; then, only in a later firmware update, ‘User Samples’ … ?!?

What? It definitely is going to get sample upload. Arturia literally made the statement themselves during the press release. Just go read an article or two and relax. People talking about Minifreak 2 already when we haven’t even hit the ceiling for features yet.
@@aaronellson9849. When did they say it was definitely coming?! I’ve heard short, ‘hand-wavey’ statements about them working on it, about the architecture being different from the Micro (which clearly it is; a complicating factor) … but no promises. Even then, I’ll believe it when I see it. Tomorrow isn’t even promised to anyone. For the time being/until Mini gets User Samples, I’d sooner have a MicroFreak. 🤷🏻♂️

I found this super useful, thanks señor Mylar

I’ve been away for a spell, and it’s so pleasant to hear from my friend Mr. MM.

Waaaaaah. I want these granular engines in Pigments. I would happily pay for that update! Cool demo by the way, this sounds great.
Very spicy and based, and also quite lit! Ace
what!? holy shit my prayers were answered, please make some more presets Mylar!
if they add sampling and vocoder I'll buy another, a desktop module would be nice
Just in time for Xmas - looking forward to trying this out. Will be great when/if they add user samples too.
This is a great video. Thank you.
Ok, now I'm convinced 👌
🎉There my Arturia Christmas present!
very nice!
In 2016 we had to build eurorack rigs for these sounds. In 2024 they get tossed in for free into existing keyboards years after release.
Exactly this. But it took eurorack existing for the Freak range to exist!
Lucky little sausage: Getting a sample update for Minifreak
Sad cold hotdog: No user sample upload through app
Ok but endless options are kinda paralyzing! Kinda love the limitation here.

@@RyanMendes-m5g I don't want to use another guy's sample collection!! I dont really like their choice of samples.
@@mylarmelodies alright after downloading I can agree that the given palette is very good.
Pretty awesome synth for what it costs. Analogue filters and complex oscillators for $500 or less. Pretty cool. Great review thanks.
The inability to load custom samples (YET) is strange considering the microfreak's granular update had it day one of the update dropping.
Makes you wonder if it’s ever coming …

It should come in a few days Arturia stated

Have you updated the firmware of your Minifreak to version 3.0?
@Neltharion2k yess and i have updated minifreakV for windows and now i find all 64 presets !!!!!!! Thank you
First of all, how did you updated your Minifreak. Idk why but i cant even login thru the app to my ASC or even minifreak v...
Can you use the engins on any of the 256 presets?

Can you record audio into the MiniFreak now?
Unfortunately not
That would require a change to the hardware me thinks. Minifreak 2 though? It’s GOTTA have it.
@@Deeplycloseted435 it has audio in, why couldn't it record?
When this kind of engine for polybrute ?
Doubtful Polybrute is equipped for it unfortunately!

I’m guessing recording and storing samples would require hardware changes. Maybe on the next version?

Sounds like my old casio

if it does not have sample upload now , its not going to have sample upload period , wich makes me really fucking sad

Yes, would require a change to the hardware. Minifreak 2 is gonna be incredible though.
