- Pretty straightforward task, but one that I've seen done wrong by so many people! Pay attention to the location for the sealant, DO NOT OVER DO IT! Excess silicone WILL kill engines.

Very usefull video. Your 1 of very few people i would trust to work on my TT keep up the good work.
Will be using this when I eventually get round to painting the cam cover. 👍🏻
Awesome, thank you so much! I'm working through a fairly long list of jobs on my 225 BAM and this is perfect for helping stop the leaks
Great timing of this video Brin my mechanic has just done exactly this job which I wouldn’t attempt. A job worth paying for for me.
Your vid give me confidence to do this job, my BAM is leaking too, I cannot wait to do so since the car will be 20 years old soon at the end of 2022
Great help Vid, Thank you so much
Loving the format, Bryn. And great to see you again! :-)
A long time between drinks. Good to see more vids. :)
great video. I feel confident that I can easily do this with your instructions. :)
Good video, just done mine but had to do the tensioner seal as well, that was a pain in the ass, might want to do a video showing that as well. Cheers
Yep- if you know the secret the tensioner seal is easy- just hard to film lol. I have got plans to film it on a head off the car
great vid mate defo be getting a mk1 soon I been watching your vids good info 👍
Brilliant video blow me mines now leaking.
Good to finally meet you at Ockham last Sunday.
Wish you lived nearer the south coast mate.
Keep it all going 👍🏻😉
Amazing! So clear.
great video, did mine done yesterday and took it for a drive this morning. Little bit of smoke at first then all good after I let it run for a few minutes before driving.
prior to changing the gasket i would occasionally get a groaning sound when I'm about 1/4-1/2 throttle and it is still there, any ideas what i could be? a friend seems to think diverter valve.
Good quality video as always. One question, I cannot seem to find anywhere what torq spec I need to tighten the bolts, any one any idea? Thanks
Class video mate very helpful
Glad it helped
Thank You!
Can I request that your next video deals with the "other " half moon seal, not looking forward to this so your take on it will be seriously appreciated!
Yeah thats in the plans- its really tricky to film though
This is a very well done video. I like the new format.
In a perfect world we could also have a camera directly over the engine but I still appreciate the amount of work you put in on this.
I'm still too scared to get this deep into my engine bay but maybe in the future.
Thanks for the video man.
I had considered the “from the top” angle but i figured my head would be in the way a lot lol
@@BWSTT And then there's lighting, and mounting, and with one more camera brings the possibility of battery death or error.
I get it though and I'm happy for the video provided.
I'm about to to swap the stock dashboard tweeters on my MK1 TT and I've never done anything like that before but RUclips is....not being helpful.
@@BWSTT great video Bryn, I take it similar process for doing a BVR 190 (might even be a bit easier as don't have the second intercooler pipe to move out the way?!)
Great video, one of the jobs I've got on my list to do. any recommendation on gasket name to use ?
Elring is my go to
Great vid mate, this is on the list. Is there any thing to watch out for when replacing the tensioner gasket ?
Seperate video in the pipeline
@@BWSTT thanks for replying, looking forward to it 👍🏽
Hi Bryn, is the Febi brand gasket okay
Got oil in my spark plugs causing a misfire. Will be doing this gasket change this evening 😢😅
How many hours labour would a garage typically charge for the rocker cover gasket change and how long does it take you mate?
Hi can replace audi tt 225 apx block engine in audi tt mk1 180 can running the 225 apx with ko3s turbo end parts from the 180hp auq engine only dhe block is with nothing's apx engine no ko4 no injectors
You need some of those camera glasses for.a.close up eye view;)
Awesome video Bryn I'm going to be attempting this myself and have one question dies the APX 225 have the half moon gasket
Cheers mate
Jay
How easy is it to DIY valve stem seals? Mine are leaking badly. I have all the tools to do them apart from the tool to remove the spring caps.
Its a head off job realistically
@@BWSTT thats what I'm trying to avoid as I don't want to touch the turbo again.. Thanks for replying mate.
I done this years ago what torque you tighten the bolts/nuts ?
10nm
You showed a program on how to change a passing pipe split is there a way we can just cut the bad bit out and replace it with pipe joiners or something Is it saying bit of metal pipe is nothing else we can do it shit change the whole thing does anybody know him he seems a whole lot of work just to repair one little hole
What silicon you use and what torque newton meters you use ?
Any High temp silicone, and 10nm
Hi Bryn, how do i get my TT booked in with you. ? I need a fair bit of work doing on it.
Pop an email to bookings@bwstt.co.uk
Shit... I didn't use sealant when fitting my new seal. Will it most likely leak or do you use sealant so it definitely won't leak.
I'm sure I didn't see any when removing the old one.
It will probably leak
What’s the full amount of time from start to finish ? And what are the torque settings for the rocker cover ?
Hard to say a time scale, it depends on your skill level. For me its approx 30 mins, but i can do it with my eyes shut. 10nm for the 9 nuts
I did mine in an afternoon with normal work in between. Moved the car around at lunch and let it cool, ate lunch then got the charge pipe off and went back to work. Came back to it at 1730 got everything else done before dinner at 1900 then just reassembled it in less than an hour
@@Thumbtwiddeler I did a video on changing mine
@@BWSTT I did a video on changing mine along with changing the chain tensioner and half moon too
Ow long did this take you? Great vid
Not long, depends on the variant and any hardware variations
@@BWSTT I have a bam too. Noticed earlier alittle oil around the casing doesn't appear fresh though..May be old oil if the gasket was replaced
@@BWSTT I've cleaned it all away and will monitor it..
What silicone sealant do you use?
Anything high temp and oil rated- i used dirko on this job
What are the torque on this ???
10nm
