As a Canadian I quietly celebrated Mr. Trump's victory in my home. There are way too many intolerant leftists here in Canada. However, I happily found a great many people surprisingly upbeat the next morning while I went about my usual business. The silent majority truly wanted a Trump victory--even in Canada.

I realize you have your own struggles with a very liberal prime minister and I hear some of the things happing in Canada and I worry about our neighbour. funny thing is: as i was a little boy, it was around 1977/78, i knew only 3 people from northamerica.
back then there were only 2 (!) tv-channels here in austria. and slightly more radiostations.
however , the three people from the states i knew were
*elvis presley* (b/c my mother listened often to the radio and almost each day elvis was in the radio) xD
second guy i knew was *Jimmy Carter* (he just got elected and was almost each day in the tv-news)
third guy was...*Donald Trump*! (because there was once a very short contribution in a weekly magazin called "Panoptikum" and he was presented as smart billionaire who would run a businessempire. i estimated that guy as very cool and thought, "hey, if i grow up and become a billionaire too, i will be befriend with him" haha.
well, it came other, i am still slightly away to be billionaire, but it was so ph**king funny as one week before the election of the us-presidential-decision there was a billard-game between two guys:
ones name was Carter, the other ones guy was Trump!
i saw that as a good omen and i am glad that Trump justified this omen! :)

James Jones I too live in a liberal/university city in the mostly blue great lakes region (Davenport, IA) besides for Trump signs getting stolen a lot there wasn't much bad reaction. People from a university in Iowa City shut down I-80 in protest though lol I was waiting for the college kids to do it in my city, even people that don't like Trump would go crazy if some privileged college students risked peoples jobs by shutting down roads.

I was in 7th grade when this happened, I was up all night in my trump outfit and MAGA hat on the phone with my bff who also loves trump (we met VP Pence last summer) and we were so nervous. We were so glad when it was 3am and he won!
