A trip to Meghalaya should always be on one's bucket list. But, apart from Cherrapunji and its double root bridges, there are several gems to visit. Cherrapunji, also known as Sohra, is a place that receives the most rainfall than all places on the earth, and the greenery is worth a watch. Meghalaya is also home to Mawlynnong village, the cleanest village in all of Asia. One can also visit the Krang Suri waterfalls for a swim. The Mawphlang Sacred forest is a lush green forest full of history and local folklore. Since Meghalaya is placed at a higher altitude, waterfalls are a natural find here. Nohkalikai waterfalls are the most famous one. Plus, the rugged stone structure of the place is also home to Mawsmai caves where you can find ancient fossilized remains of many creatures. On your trip to Meghalaya, one can also plan a visit to Dawki River, which has some of the clearest water of all lakes. The Indian-Bangladesh border is also close by. Go for a swim at Shnopdeng lake, which has very calm and swimmer friendly waters. Lastly, the state capital Shillong has beautiful churches and museums to soak in the states culture and learn a lot. If you are planning a trek to the double root bridges, plan ahead as the village Nongriat has many small huts to stay for a night before you go ahead to visit the Rainbow falls. The trek may get very tiring, but it surely comes packed with some gorgeous photographs and unmatched experience in the midst of wild, pure nature!

So it's basically a trek down 3500 steps approximately, so it depends on your physical and mental strength mostly. However, I think it would be difficult because you won't find anything once you reach down in case of any emergency, and coming back will take time.

If u r planning to go with a travel group, 33000 is okay, although it can be cheaper if u travel solo and hier a 2 wheeler, but then it also depends on the itinerary they r offering you.

Have to say being a vegetarian I found food a big challenge especially since in all kitchens pork, non veg and veg is cooked in same kitchen...

Hi, weather will range between cold and pleasant in January, so some relief from rains and good for sight seeing. But if u are interested in waterfalls, they would mostly be dry.

Yes, u can, but it will be raining heavily, specially if u r starting your trip in second week, so by the time u will finish, it will b raining v heavily.....May end to June first week would be a good time.

Yes u can take from Guwahati, as that would be starting point. Or u can try in Shillong.
Also 2 wheelers are easily available in Shillong.
