  • I took the X5M to Lake Tahoe. I had to leave a little early due to an incoming Blizzard. The X5M with the Yokohama BluEarth V905 handled great. I was a little worried how they would do with the staggered setup but overall no issues. I would like to figure out the washer fluid freezing issue though.

    thank u !
    i was looking for videos abt different performance snow tires for my e64 m6 - came across this bc im considering the yoko bluearth winter v905's
    this was very helpful bc theres very little info / videos abt those particular tires
    including that footage and talking abt how they felt in the snow was very helpful !
    thank u !

    My X5 with staggered wheels and Pirellio Scorpion did very poorly in snow surprisingly. I switched to non-staggered wheels with narrower rears than the sport versions and to Blizzacks and was rewarded with excellent performance. I'll never run staggered wheels again on my X5 in the winter.

    this was super helpful even without footage in heavy snow! i'm looking to get an x5 for my tahoe/winter vehicle. i would buy the winter products you need while in nv and bring it back to ca. it's difficult to find a lot of adequate products that also fulfil ca regulations

    If you want a really loud cold start...after you start it press sport and tap the throttle to open the exhaust valves and you can here it chop away lol like a proper V8

    Hey! how do you like Yokohama BluEarth V905? the car also behaves exactly like on summer michelin?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +1

      I like them. I only had them on for a couple of weeks, but they weren’t noisy in the dry. I didn’t feel like I sacrificed ride or grip in the dry/wet but in the light snow they gripped really well. I did find an unplowed parking lot and drove through it. It didn’t slip and I never saw the DSC light flash.

      It has something to do with the VOC levels in the Sierras. They don’t want certain chemicals for preservation.

    Question: why you got your AC on in the winter ? Aren't you gonna freeze inside ?

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  Год назад +1

      The a/c doesn’t mean cold air. I have the climate control set for 74 degrees or so.
      Running the a/c active simply acts as a dehumidifier and cycles as needed to keep windows from fogging without the need to run the defogger. The compressor will stay lubricated.

    So XDrive X5 don’t need snow chains just snow tires? can I just put snow chains on the rear for sport package? Cheaper that way.

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +1

      xDrive you need All season tires or winter tires.
      I wouldn’t put chains on one axle only because the AWD system is going to struggle to figure out where to send power.

      @@eddiemcars More video of you driving it in snow; that is the title, after all. As opposed to 3 minutes talking about changing wheels, which most viewers of a video like this are already quite aware of. You could have skipped the entire minute devoted to reading your trip odometer screen, which we could have done for ourselves...and we already knew that the X5M wouldn't get as good gas mileage as your 50i.

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 года назад +2

      @@davepenn9181 as much as I would've liked to get more snow content, it didn't line up that way. I wanted to show it climbing through deep snow drifts and stuff plus showing drive in action.
      When I got there was an inch so at best. I found a small pull-off section that wasn't plowed 6” deep. I had my wife get out try and film then a bunch of other cars pulled off and blocked it.
      A storm was coming in, which would have been perfect, but I had work the next day. So, this is what we’re left with. Once California can get some consistent rain I would definitely get more content. I'm eager to film it just as you are to watch 😀
