Kathleen, I’m glad I found your channel. I’ve been missing Paige of Farmhouse Vernacular. I love seeing color used in the home. I’m enjoying your renovations of each room. Thank you.
The ribbed glass is called fluted glass, love it! Thanks for posting this, I too drool over Devol kitchens and plan to customize my own kitchen based on this look.
Love your kitchen,We did ours all with salvage and kept some of the original cabinets but took the doors off ,We painted them a jadeite green colour and put a painted hutch on one wall ,My husband made a central island with a granite top,My counters are made from different colour granite off cuts ,
Great list!! Another paint option some might like is Fusion Mineral Paint -- we used this brand for painting our cabinets with very good results so far (I'm prepared to do touch ups as needed). I just subscribed to your channel and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos! 🙂
Great video. I really enjoyed it. Love your ideas. I'm not sure where you're located, but in Maine, we've got plenty of old farmhouses to go around. It'd be fun to fix one up like you have.
Never been to Maine. It’s always been on my bucket list. I hope you can rescue an old farmhouse! It is challenging but very rewarding. We are in Kentucky! Lots of old farmhouses here, as well.
What color of green paint is on your cabinet on the wall? I really like that cabinet and the color. i will never give up upper cabinets, They are far too practical for me. Open shelves require cleaning too often, they are a dust and grease collector. as well as the stray bugs that find their way in the house. LOL the glass cabinet doors are the perfect compromise. I would be reluctant to use chalk paint on cabinets and furniture. due to i believe it would not hold up long term.
Hi! It's Sherwin-WIlliams Jitterbug Jade. The cabinet maker painted it on with a hard clear coat on top. I agree about open shelves 😀 Chalk paint is wonderful, but I think for the kitchen it does require a lot of finishing top coats. I've seen people do it but I've never tried myself.
@@OldWorldFarmHouse To me, chalk paint is more for craft and decor projects. I mean, why to all the extra work to try and make chalk paint more durable, when you can just use paint that is more durable to start with? I struggle with the look that I like in the kitchen, and with what is practical and low maintenance for my lifestyle. Actually I am like that with most everything. I love the look and idea of movable cabinets and furniture in the kitchen. I like that it can be moved around to suit me. I also like the fact of being able to move it for cleaning. But at the same time I don’t like the fact that I would have to move it for cleaning. lol Unlike installed cabinets. So I compromise with installed cabinets on the wall, that looks like furniture. And compromise open top shelves for closed cabinets with glass paneled doors. Flat surfaces all over the kitchen brings in a lot more effort to keep them clean as well as everything stored on them. But if I really loved the open shelves, it would be worth the effort. At least for a while. Lol
I have a 1935 home with a lot of unique character. The kitchen is enormous, and the cabinets are up to the ceiling with paned glass. I have my Fostoria crystal & beautiful dishes displayed. I do not like exposed shelves at all. The glass doors give it authenticity original to the home. Open shelving would absolutely ruin it. Dusting would become commonplace every week. More work for the madam of the house. Ughhh!😵💫😵💫😵💫
It’s never gonna cross over to an English country home kitchen until your stove is the right age. Everything begins and ends with her. She’s the star. A modern range kills any hope of transporting you to the 19th Century. Get online to score a used AGA. Often just going and picking it up and out of the remodeling owner’s hair gets you it for free. Cheaper than paying professionals to haul it away. If you have the space, go for an old European iron cooker.
So nice to stumble across this, thank you! Really happy to hear you love the show and that we could give you a little inspiration.
Thank you! It is such an honor to hear from you. I love your show and your beautiful kitchens.

Definitely high on the wishlist! Thx for the encouragement!
I don't like open shelves because things collect dust and I have cats. You know about cats and shelves, right?
😂😂 yes I do! I don't care for open shelves, either. For similar reasons.
😂
