  • This is part 2 of my mini series of videos looking at the music and techniques of Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits.
In this video, I show you how to play Walk Of Life. It's possibly not a song that a Mark Knopfler purist would say it's one of his finest, but there is some serious technique going in in the guitar playing that's definitely worth a look.
When you have played it a few times using the right technique, you might view it differently!
Here are the links to the videos I mention:
    Fingerpicking Technique: • Fingerpicking Techniqu...
Money For Nothing: • Play Money For Nothing...
I hope you enjoy my content - let me know if there is anything specific that you would like me to include on the channel that will be fun and will help you with your playing.
    Happy practising.

Perfect tone! I have pretty much the same Tele and can’t quite make it quack like that. There are lots of lessons on this song out there, but you get the cadence, articulation and phrasing the best. Nice job.
Your lessons are good, ignore the critics. I saw a conversation thread on one of you other videos (Sultans) about how it can be hard for righties to follow what a leftie is doing on the fret hand. I’m a rightie, find it sometimes easy but sometimes hard. I appreciate you considering using technology to flip the images. But don’t forget, lefties are more prominent in the arts (Leonardo da Vinci, McCartney, Hendrix, Ringo, etc. etc.)

Cheers Tim - that's really kind of you. Glad you liked the vid. I just love what I do and it's always great to share it with like minded people. Thanks again. Phil.

One other thought on the Tele tone Tim. For this vid, I had the guitar strung just through the bridge rather than through the body - I find that although it weakens the sound a little (obviously you can tweak eq etc to compensate) you do get a bit more quack and twang. Maybe give it a try next time you restring (or maybe treat yourself to a second Tele 🎸😉).
