    Krita > Settings > Configure Krita > Tablet Settings has an option to use WinTab or Windows Ink. That might help get pressure working. I've had good results with Krita using a Surface Go (ntrig) and Cintique (wacom emr) but have not had a chance to try wacom aes pen technology. On Ntrig the pen can make a big difference in jitter. That's some really bad jitter you were experiencing!

      Thank you very much Harry Morris for your advice, I will check that setting next time I do a review of a pen and tablet =). That's good to know the scope of the jitter I was getting from someone who knows more about the digital pen tech. If you don't mind me asking what are the factors/features you would look for in a digital pen?

    As expensive as the PN579X is, I was hoping for a bit better result then the amount of jitters that you were getting. I just bought the Dell XPS 13in 2 in 1 and the Dell Premium Active Pen (PN579X). I will really pissed if the pen works really bad when I try it out. I am an Industrial Designer and I mainly bought the pen to do some digital sketching on-the-go. Oh well, we'll see what happens when I get my laptop in and try it out. Wish me luck. Thanks for the video.

      Hey there! How is the pen for you? I am thinking about getting one for my XPS 15 2in1 as well but what I saw here was p damn awful as I need it for illustration.

      Can the Dell Latitude 7200 use the Microsoft Surface Pen? Please answer

    Jitter is due to the computer. The computer tracks the pen using a sensor behind the screen and relies on the algorithms provided by the windows ink space / wintab / the Tablet PC's own firmware. I use a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 which has comparable specs when comparing the pen/digitizer 4096 pressure levels, tilt, tracking, etc. Funnily enough, Dell tried to sell me on the PN579X with an XPS 2-in-1 when trying to apply for a Dell Preferred account to finance one of the more beefy Surface hybrids. I'm not sure if you're taking advantage of Wacom's AES technology which supposedly the PN579X supports the 2.0 standard. Not sure if you need to install Wintab or what to use that in Photoshop, but I know I had to use Wintab when using the Wacom Cintiq in Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop to really take advantage of the benefits of the digitizer. Though, in my experience, Wacom's drivers and Wintab are prone to critical failure, and their touch capabilities leave something to be desired.
    But this was just the video I was looking for. I really thank you for taking the time to upload it!

    How about other active pen alternatives such as Wacom? Does it produce similar result as those two Dell pens? I'm definitely thinking of buying this Dell tablet because of its Thunderbolt 3 port and RAW photo editing work on Photoshop.

      Hi Andrew Tan, thanks for the comment, are you a digital artist by chance, if you are love to ask question about Krita if you used it before? Cheers.

    In Krita you used a brush, which doesn't have the pressure option. Next time you have to pick an other brush ;)

    Thank you for the line test! Absolutely necessary for artists. This would not work for an artist that wants to not use any kind of line smoothing.

      Thank you @ckmoore, I myself don't understand the results of test itself but I have the means to perform it for those who are interested. Your feedback is very helpful to me and giving me an idea what it practically does the test.

    Thanks for your review. It spares me the hustle of buying this and sending it back. Big jitter effects, parallax and lag are rendering this tool unsuited for digital art purposes (can't ink a comic book page if you can't hit the sketch lines, because the actual line is never quite where the pen tip is). You asked why the jitter occures. Its a hardware problem in the first instance. The active part is the pen here in the AES technology, which is hitting a web of tracking points in the digitizer. When drawing diagonal lines the distance between those points is larger than when you draw horizontal or vertical lines. The software (Honestly I don't know if its embedded or in the driver) is trying to estimate then where your actual stroke was meant to be and as you can see not doing a very good job at it. Its a common issue on all AES devices. Wacom Bamboo Ink isn't doing any better here.

    thanks very much for the video and the info provided. but I don't think this combo actually supports rotation, I think the little rotation shown in the video is just the effect of the angle between the pen and the screen changing a bit due to shaking of the hand. (maybe you can try holding the pen steadily perpendicular to the screen and rotate the pen in one direction 360 degree, see if the cursor will also rotate 360 degree). anyway thanks again.

    WOW, that's shockingly bad, I"m not sure if it would be the pen or laptop, I suspect it would be a combination of the screens technology and the pens tech, on Krita it had massive lag.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  5 лет назад

      So I have tried to the PN579X on the Latitude 7400 and the 5285 and 5290, all different age of hardware (1-3 years) and all the lags seems to be similar so my guess is it would be the Pen determining the lag, as for palm rejection (line/jitter test) I was say that's related to the hardware of the screen on the laptop is my thought.

      Hi Mohamed Nabih, the digital pen support are only on the 2-in-1 versions of the Dell laptops. The clamshell normal version of the latitude 7200 doesn’t support the Dell Pens like the PN579X.
