Being a math expert like Greller is vital. If Jordan has 173 yards to the front of the green and the hole is 6 yards on then Mr Greller performs the calculation of 173 + 6 and gets 179.
Absolutely love him, spieth was signing autographs on the side away from me so I put a hat on a stick and greller saw it, laughed, took it off and got it signed by spieth
Love Jordan old head on young shoulders. I remember his comments on his first masters appearance, he said l will never get the chance to hit my first shot at Augusta again, I think he was about 20 at the time. You can see these two are genuine best mates and lovely people. Good luck Jordan and Michael, you go together like fish and chips
She probably worked out how much he would likely be earning. If he'd said he wanted to give up his teaching job and write poetry, I doubt she'd have been so supportive.
i think michael won the lottery on this one. but i think jordan is also super loyal and meshes well with michael's personality. just a different kind of great caddie compared to bones and williams etc
Jack Nicklaus is the man for me but this was so inspiring to watch, gives such a sense of what the game means to so many of us around the world. I'm a wrinkly, reduced to hitting at the range these days, but I still dream. This lets me live my dream vicariously, many thanks for the upload, awesome story.
Michael was my son’s teacher for two years. Absolutely stellar teacher and human. He remains my son’s favorite teacher ever, even after the infamous 6th grade camp scare prank that left some students crying and Michael fearing for his job.
To every other golfer at the Masters, the names of the holes mean nothing. But when McIlroy makes his way to the 18th at Augusta National a distracting, if not unnerving name creeps into his head. The hole is called Holly. The same name as his hometown sweetheart Holly Sweeney who he abruptly dumped when fame came knocking. Do you believe in curses? Does he?
Yes, a math teacher is a secret weapon. When you get on in 2, then 2-putt, he knows it's 4. And a ten foot putt will hole in two seconds if hit at a speed of 5 ft. per second.
No, no, NO! Michael Greller did NOT teach in Gig Harbor, Washington [ESPN]. He did NOT teach in Seattle [Washington Post]. He taught in University Place, Washington, at Narrows View Intermediate School. My wife, Pamela Norris-Taylor, was one of his fellow teachers -- and says he was a really great guy. Ross Taylor -- University Place, Wa
I watched this story thinking how much better off the world would be if he were back teaching math to kids instead of caddying. No knock against caddying, but kids remember the great teachers for the rest of their lives.
Why is being a former math teacher of any significance? Its not like there's any special qualifications to be a caddy. Being good a math helps, actually.
I just think they wanted to draw on the fact how ordinary his life was, and that he took a chance from his ordinary life to chase his dream, and now he's living it.
Obviously math helps but experience as a teacher is also vital because it teaches you to learn psychology and how to help your player when bad things happen. Knowing when to talk and what to say are extremely important

I don’t vibe with Greller. I was at the Pga at quail hallow in 2018 and there was a backup on the tee. He came over to grab water in the cooler that I was standing right in front of. (Keep in mind I’m a 13 year old kid at the time). I say “how are you michael?” And he looks up and glares at me. I mean that’s just straight rude.

Dude this made my day hahah!!
Hahaha best comment
aah brilliant lads, thats class!
if it were only that easy
Absolutely love him, spieth was signing autographs on the side away from me so I put a hat on a stick and greller saw it, laughed, took it off and got it signed by spieth
Absolutely love this story. There should be more light cast on caddies. These guys have unique stories of their own but all too often get overlooked.
Nobody gets there alone!!! What an awesome Team!!!! Continued success to both of you!
"Cheese looks a little saucy. I'd go with spoon." LOL
No. I'm sorry but even cheese macaroni is still pasta. Fork.😁😁😁
The smoothie looks a little thick, I suggest a straw.
The most shocking aspect of this story... he made $55k/year as a middle school math teacher.
It's sad that that is shocking but this is hilariously accurate
Vince McMahon I dont find it hilarious at all...
yeah, not hilarious at all...pretty sad that math teachers are paid 55k a year. this is the future of our country.
John Crazy you liberal piece of shit
@@johncrazy8756 55k is a lot... I was shocked the number was that high

Both amazing men, love them both.
What a wife! Pushing him to his dreams.
That was my biggest takeaway as well.
She is a beauty and a very nice lady. Jordan and Michael both have beautiful and supportive wives. Those guys are truly blessed..eh?
Sadly for me, this was the biggest take away as well. He hit the jackpot for sure!
She probably worked out how much he would likely be earning. If he'd said he wanted to give up his teaching job and write poetry, I doubt she'd have been so supportive.

I would love to here from some of his former students. He just sounds like he would be an amazing teacher .

I never knew that story. EPIC
ARenaissanceishMan That school was NVI and my math teacher was his best friend
seems like an awesome guy and glad he is living his dream!
Two perfect shots Michael!

When Tiger first came on the scene he dumped his high school sweetheart by mail.
Tiger's lady game is STRONG
Lol I don't know if strong is the first word that comes to mind
@@khunopie9159 his dad forced him to dump her because he stayed the night at her house once
Class Act. One of the good guys
He was my 6th grade teacher! Love that dude
stop lying lol
Jonny Smith haha so right
I was at their first tournament together at Gold Mountain. Big fan of the pair ever since
At 1:39 i had all of those teachers😂😂 mrs.Boutry... Mcgoldrick and Mrs. Flynn
EliteWolf what year😂 I had Susie boutry too lmao
In middle school a teacher was good friends with greller and we got to meet him. Awesome person!
What???
@@williamshea4425 Awesome experience, I still have the hat he signed for me!
This gave me goosebumps

rte11 i went there like 4 years ago currwntly in HS 😂 Ask if she know Mr.Lindberg... I really want to get in contact with him since he retired

Chris Boustedt Curtis high?
so much respect for caddies
Michael Greller gives Jordan good numbers and he is there to listen and let Jordan bounce stuff off him...they make a great team.
Love this story.
love this team.
Happy Birthday to the man himself!
They are both class acts. The good people in golf
And I was waiting for a caddie position to open up on Craig's list!
Sometimes, good things really do happen to good people.
love how this is as much an UNDER ARMOR ad as it is a vid for this guy. under armor logo in 90% of shots lmao
He really seems like a nice dude.
Cool story.
Great story.
Why is being a former math teacher of any significance? Its not like there's any special qualifications to be a caddy. Being good a math helps, actually.
Rusty Cockering .... great point, I agree. caddies don't swing the club's. That's why they are easily replaceable
which is why Steve Williams was on tigers bag and helped him to success for so long
I just think they wanted to draw on the fact how ordinary his life was, and that he took a chance from his ordinary life to chase his dream, and now he's living it.
Señor Thierre Steve williams

caddys deserve more recognition if their player ends up winning
What a story!
I’m not crying you are

Awesome
Who's here after spieth just won
5th time i watched this and still find it crazy
Using His math skills, and knowing he is 6 yards perpendicular of the 180 yard marker, he can the perform a^2+b^2=c^2 to find the exact distance.
Why not. Just think how many times a caddy has to triangulate to get yardages.
Besides all the expert comments, this is a great story. I bet he makes slightly more than 55k a year now!!
Beautiful...
Just curious, how is Michael's golf game? Is he a scratch golfer? I'd like to caddy for a major winner one day also but currently can't break a 100.
If you have knowledge of the game, then you can be a caddy. What you shoot doesn't matter. You're not out there doing the scoring, the player you're working for is.
Sk8mattGaming exactly, pros usually know what do already, caddies are there when the players lose their heads and to check yardages
The Sublime Quest number one rule: never compliment the shot because when you don't compliment one, he/she knows it was bad. Keep the golfer cool, calm and collected
The Sublime Quest heard he's not horrible at it
HERE COMES THE GENERAL
That is the dream job... behind being the golfer
Water works.😭
my sister had him in middle school
Puttin the kids through college!
I prefer happy Gilmore and Otto but that’s just me.
Savage who? Well I guess that everyone should be a 6th grade math teacher at some point in their lives

1 day i hope i grow up to be good enough to hold some1 else's bag 2.

What an odd career when you think about it. His entire accomplishments stem from Jordan's. Not many jobs you can say that about.
Wow
