My pre-round warm-up (true story):
Sign up for Club Championship at home course
Train for a year
Show up an hour early
Hit a bucket of balls and putt
Shoot my best score of all time
Tie for 1st because you missed a 3-footer
Go to playoff hole
Hit 2 shots out of bounds
Don't finish the playoff hole because you exceeded the stroke limit
Cry yourself to sleep that night
your pre round warm up are Show up an hour early and Hit a bucket of balls and putt the rest is your club championship highlight
There's a reason why he's catapulted himself to #1 in the world so quickly without the overwhelming power those immediately behind him in the OWGR (McIlroy, Day, Watson, D. Johnson, etc.) have, and this is a major reason why. He works at every phase of his game to become the complete player. He knows he can't overpower a golf course, though he's plenty long enough, so he works on the other parts of his game, and that hard work has paid off to the point of four PGA Tour wins, including two major championships, in 2015 alone, and now the #1 ranking.
But this is nothing new. In the 1972 Masters film, there's a scene of Jack Nicklaus on the practice putting green well after his third round had ended, and he was the only player on the grounds. While Nicklaus obviously had the talent to become the greatest ever, it was his non-stop work ethic, as well as his attention to detail, combined with his physical ability, that really set him apart from all the rest. The same could be said about Tiger when he was at his apex (mid-1999-2005). He had the physical ability, but it was his attention to detail and his work ethic that set him apart from his contemporaries.
Jordan Spieth may not have the physical ability that Nicklaus and Tiger had, but he has the same work ethic and attention to detail that Jack and Tiger did, and that's a major reason why he's been able to accomplish what he has in 2015.
+cjs83172 Most pro's have a great work ethic and attention to detail, and they all have different strengths and weaknesses. You ain't telling us anything new. Jordan of course has risen to the top, what sets him apart most of all is talent.
That he pays attention to every detail as it pertains to his game. One thing that separates him from the pack is that he's the complete player. And part of that is the fact that he pays attention to every facet of his game, whether it's his iron play, his short game, his putting, and even his mental approach to the game. Other players, including other elite players, tend to focus on one part of their game more than other parts, and it shows. But from what I can ascertain, Spieth tends to focus on each part of his game, and I think that gives him an edge over the field in the parts of the game where his competition is weaker.
+cjs83172 You should be a golf coach, Butch Harmon beware.
I can't even walk a golf course, much less know how to play golf. But being a sports fan and watching the game for as long as I have (more than 25 years), I can almost tell which players are complete players and which players are incomplete players that do much of their damage with certain facets of their games without having the complete game simply by watching.
I tend to disagree that Jordan's practice is what sets him apart. All PGA Tour players practice non-stop, some more than others but I don't think you can simply chalk up his success to hard work. His success can best be attributed to his uncanny putting ability and remarkable consistency with the speed of his putting. His putts always seem to drop in the hole at the perfect speed to where if he misses, it only rolls less than a foot past.
I’ve started doing those putting drills like Jordan Spieth was doing. Stepping off 4 feet, 7 feet, and then 12 feet.
Isn't that the voice from the Atlanta airport?
I watched him warm up at the 2015 Heritage Classic, and what I noticed was that he takes every practice shot very seriously.
My pre-shot routine. To irish coffees on the way to the course. After arrival, a few shots of irish whiskey with my friends. Off to the putting green where we play rake back for $10 bucks a hole. Another irish coffee and off to the range. There I hit 3 gap wedges, 3 pitching wedges, 3 7 irons, 3 5 irons, 3 hybrids, and then 3 drives.
Pour another irish coffee just before we tee off, so I feel nauseous just before I hit, and then go out and shoot 3 over.
4 Drives...
We need to learn that score is in short game and putting.
Hideki matsuyama please. Why not? He's a great young talent with a superb swing, stellar short game and can hit the ball a mile for his size.
Did you stand next to him? His golf shoes also add a bit.
What kind of shaft does he have on the hybrid and the three wood????
Yeah I bet you the practice range balls they hit are brand new premium Titleist or Callaway balls.
Lmao I’d take 20 of them for the round lmaoo
Their range balls aren't pinnacles, top flites, and noodles, I'll say that.
Muirfield Village...sweet.
Love him👏👏👏
Can you do one of these for Justin Thomas?
Thanks! I always wondered about this.
Could you please do Luke Donald. Please.
He makes it look easy
How dose that not tire you out before the round
Wisconsin Golf the guy is fit
Have you guys seen his shirt seems to change colors from turquoise to sky blue
+Craig Ellis no it wasn't original post was right
***** same day pal
PERFECT WAY TO PRACTICE ! CARL WELTY
this is just the practice routine to get in the zone, their warm up is like one hour long
Just for once I'd love to see it go in the following order: Beer, Putts, Beer, and then hit the course. That's my order.
That's Miguel Anguel Jiminez
John Daly? But he skips the putts part.
do a Dustin Johnson preround warm up video
+Craig Ellis No it wasn't, everything else stayed the same, just the camera might've been different
8 irons . so he has multiple 8 irons like 2 or 3?
Unfortunately most courses here don't have a practice tee.
are you allowed to stamp your foot behind the ball like that?
yes...it's allowed on tee shots
He only hits 4 drives?
has potential swing looks a little stiff, he may be on the pga tour one day if he fixes his swing a little bit
did anyone notice that Jordan's shirt was mint from some angles and light blue from others
I wonder what he does at Augusta as they will not let you pull out a phone to record anywhere on the course! I assume he skips that part!
sarcasm?
LOL. Yeah, that rule if for patrons.
This could also be titled “Jordan Spieth’s Pre-Shot Routine”
After that he goes and plays 18 holes. Damn
Its mind blowing that the best in the world can't even make 7 ft putts everytime. Just amazing how difficult this game is.
They only make them 99.9% of the time
TIME FOR A TEE PARTYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First time you will ever see Spieth miss 3 seven footers and not flip out
Thank goodness for the mute function.....
TFM
What happened to the robot lady voice? Yall fired her real quick.
What ever your routine is, I'd probably do something different. Not really working now is it!
Why dows this look like it was shot in 2005
I was thinking more like late 2003...probably to give it that vintage look.
great camera work if this was a commercial, but awful camera work for anyone interested in golf. Too many cuts and switches and no chance for the viewer to learn anything from Jordan's actual warm-up swing. A good opportunity wasted. Forget the fancy edits guys - and show us Jordan's warm up swing, the rhythm the timing etc are vital and fascinating to ordinary golfers, but they cannot be appreciated or even seen, if you cut everything to shreds in the editing process.
This was rather unsettling.
To studyy
