I just bought a scultura 6000 from a retailer and had them change the derailleur to accommodate a bigger cassette, in the process the paint on where the deraileur goes on the paint came off so easily now its just a black chunk out of it .. pretty bummed about it.
paint on contact points always fell off due to the assembly pressure, occurs on all frames. its normal. after all the screws and bolts you cant see those areas anyways
Taiwan* and China are* two different countries*. And your 90 % estimation is far off. Because that would leave only 10 % of the world's electronic components to be made in China, Japan, South Korea. These are only three of many countries producing electronics and are all way bigger than Taiwan.
As far as i knew, MERIDA Carbon bike frames manufactured on "Topkey" subsidiary factory "Xiamen Keentech Composite Technology" , located in Jimei District, Xiamen, Fujian.

Merida is a Taiwan based company. They are the second-largest maker of bikes in the world after Giant and produce frames for dozens of brands. Their German distributor has a share in the company, that's why Merida's design center is based in Germany. Nobody has better knowledge and experience about making bicycle frames from carbon than Taiwan.

My granspeed is made of aluminum, but even by several fall down for one year, there are no cracks still now.
Same I crashed three times already and my scultura 200 still going strong!
