  • This is a video of a malfunction at the Harrison Avenue railroad crossing in Trenton, MI on July 12th, 2022 at 7:50 PM. I believe that something was wrong in the gate mechanism of the CN Flat Rock Subdivision crossing, causing the gate to stay down after a previous train went through. The previous train would’ve not been on the CN Flat Rock Subdivision due to the back lights not flashing on the Flat Rock Subdivision’s gated signal and the front lights not flashing on the CN Flat Rock Subdivision’s mast signal. This was definitely a pretty strange malfunction! Also as you can see at the beginning of the video, CN put a new gated signal on the Shoreline Subdivision. Anyways, Thanks for Watching!

Looks like a signal and gate was replaced recently on the east side of the crossing. The sidelights now have backplates around them and are attached to a bracket.

Goddard Rd. had a similar malfunction like that back in 2008, when owensri2 was there, as after the Gates rose up for deactivation, the Front & Gate Lights on the Flat Rock Gated Signal & the Back Lights on the Flat Rock Mast Signal, plus the Bells on both the Flat Rock Signals were refusing to shut off, thus that when the 2ND Truck went through the West Side Conrail Track for the activation to happen, the Flat Rock Gate lowered immediately, while the Shoreline Signals were starting up, as the Flat Rock Signals were still going & still refusing to shut off, even after the Gates rose again for deactivation.

The faded side LED Lights have now been replaced & the new side LED Lights are above the Main Lights this time on the Shoreline Gated Signal! 🤔

During this malfunction on the Flat Rock Track, the only Bells ringing in there were GS Type 2 on the Gated & Safetran Type 3 on the Mast 'cause those Signals were activated with the Gate stuck down, even though only the front side was flashing, as the back side is still wired correctly & shut off.
This one isn't a Track malfunction, but like a Invesys Rail Gate Mech malfunction instead on the Gated Signal.
It'd be nice to have another catch like that & see how it can even be fixed, if the Workers are there on the next time this happens. 🤔
