It's unfair how Native Americans are close to nonexistent in things like media & all that. Their culture is so fascinating and I want to know more, particularly on the Blackfoot Sioux which is the tribe I'm descended from.
Rebecca Johnson so am I!!!!
Visit the Dakotas and you will learn a lot about the Sioux tribe.
Yeah you have a really good point~ most of the time native Americans are casted only to play a character that is specifically Native American. There is no “oh this character just happened to be Native American” :(.
My husband is a chaebol heir. No shit same here
Fun Fact: Sioux is actually an insult to lakota/datoka/nakota people given to them by their enemies! It means "Snake" and I believe it's from the algonquin speakers (I may be wrong) And if you want to know more about blackfoot history/culture I suggest looking up Walksfar woman as she poses an interesting piece of our native history!
"When the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned, only then will we realize that one cannot eat money."
I learnt about Native Americans in my history course last year, and I completely agree with their belief that you cannot own land. It doesn't belong to you, but we belong to it. Yes you can put boundaries around different places, but you can't physically own the land. It's sacred.
Damn right!
+Kats987124 Where are you from?
+Wisið winilíkó. Britain.
+GhOsT ID It was from the time of the gold rush (1849?) to the battle of Little Bighorn. I don't remember talking about Mexico or Canada, just the US
+Kats987124 I'm currently taking US History AP (college level) and I cried several times at realizing how bad American Indians were treated, specially from the irony that such evilness came from "christians" who "followed Jesus". Throughout American history, sadly, one can tell since the beginning that colonists were focused on selfish benefits, pleasure, and nothing more, with the excuse of religion. If I were to point who God's people is, I would say they are those who live peacefully and do not pretend to be land owners. I then met an Indian tribe... no words to describe it. We are blind today, the modern world is a deception.
#nativelivesmatter
+D Rose i can get behind this
+varnageT same
+varnageT quit
+D Rose Fuck yeah #NativeLivesMatter
+D Rose i'm here for this
I'm a native who's living in a little reservation right now...
Dirty water with gas in it,
Dead grass. But beautiful bright northern lights, bright rainbows,
Smell of spring, and rain, lots of trees, animals, homemade food, activities.
sounds like a rez
Ozie T I love your impartiality to negatives and positives! Need to look at both sides for balance.
I was born on the rez and it's more like you enjoy nature and when there a pow wow anyone can join.
Ozie T keep drinking that dirty water fraud
Zuri Coal I want to join another pow wow. I attended one some time ago. I remember, getting ready to leave, some of the young Indian kids laughing at me. Not sure why they were making fun of me, (maybe 'cause I am an outsider.) My feelings were hurt, but I still wish I could find a way to join in another. At least one, before I die.
This really hits hard and everything they're saying is true, mind you this from an outside perspective. The greatest shame in Canada, is the way we treated the aboriginal peoples.
+Mel T I agree but the sad thing about the US is they barely even talk about it. At least in Canada we acknowledge the unfair treatment, even if our government doesn't want to. We don't glorify and have a special holiday for someone who perpetrated genocide.
+Samantha B My family always mentions the Native Americans and acknowledges their suffering and sacrifices when we pray on Thanksgiving. And for the most part, I think Thanksgiving is becoming more about family, food, sports, and to enjoy the people around you more than it is about thanking pilgrims and Columbus for their work. This is probably the main reason that Thanksgiving is still around because it a great family day for making memories.
+Samantha B That must be true. I had no idea that this is how natives felt about reservations. Not a clue. My heart breaks for them.
jordan122100 I am glad you acknowledge it then. I meant more in terms of public education. In schools we learn about the mistreatment of Native people from a pretty young age and we don't have holidays like Columbus day. We also don't identify with the Thanksgiving myth although we do celebrate thanksgiving strictly as a time to give thanks and not tied to any events that happened with the early settlers in Canada.
+Samantha B at least in Californian education, they do talk about it as a genocide. They didn't glance over or sugar coat the trail of tears and mass murder of native Americans. Note I was in AP US History a year ago.
That last women's statement was so true and so heartbreaking.
I still find it strange that most of us (Americans) ignore what happened. We celebrate Thanksgiving but forget that it was created by the death of cultures. It's just very very sad. I can't imagine what it is like to be given a tiny piece of land away from where your ancestors are native and being forced to live in this tiny little community while the rest of the country is taken over by people who just stole it. There has to be something we can do now to at least help with what is going on. We can never compensate enough.
+lillyscarlet There is no 'we' that needs to compensate. The 'we' that should is long dead. Now all that's left is unfortunate consequences of those who acted prior.
So if we're too focused on the wrong things, and we don't take responsibility for our own actions, why can't the natives take responsibility for what they have now and fix the societal problems they deal with?
Darin Bradshaw We ARE doing something about it.It's a long hard climb, but more of us are getting educated.More natives are realizing what we must do to keep our culture and our native languages. We are adapting. We are here to stay.Peace.
they're Mexicans
Mynx Mellon wow you're literally targeting a specific race just because they make more then you you are trash
Sounds similar to what happens to Aboriginals in Australia
+spankcakes just thinking the same thing
+spankcakes I thought that too.
I also thought that.
And Maori's in NZ. Although we probably had it a bit better, nowadays too.
codenatt The Australian goverment has finally admitted the wrong-doings to Aboriginals and courses about Aporiginals and their true history is apparently mandatory from thos year onwards and you can educate yourself to specialize in Aporiginal history/culture now. So close but at least now things have been done to try fix the past. Meanwhile Native Americans still suffer.
It makes me so happy to see that a couple of the popular RUclips channels are starting to make videos about Native Americans. I've noticed that Native Americans are excluded from things about race. I'd see all of these videos on Black, White, Hispanic and Asian people, but nothing about my race. It made me feel small and like I didn't matter. For a really long time I felt embarrassed about who I was because of all the stereotypes. But, I've learned to accept who I am and I should embrace it. Native Americans need to be heard. We're left in the dark. #NativeAmericanLivesMatter
God be with you sister! I too as an African (Eritrean) know what it is like to be ignorantly stereotyped and demeaned. God is the one who brings justice and recompense. It was Jesus who taught me to forgive and showed m true love and comfort. He loves all the tribes and peoples of the earth. People have wrongfully used His Holy Name for their own racial and political agenda for centuries. But He is the the most wonderful person in this world. Get to know Him, your Father and Creator who is calling yo back to Him and He will raise you up for a mighty purpose and will give you a peace and understanding that He will judge the nations in due time and fully settle accounts between all nations and peoples of the earth. He is the God of justice (& love too!) God keep you and strengthen and lead all the days of your life!
AHOO!!! Cheii YAZ.😉
#ProudToBeNative
this is all about blacks. every associations/actions goes to that race , you'll never hear about the poverty in europe which is never ever shown on tv, you'll never hear about asians . all we ( whites) care about are blacks they got the help from the entire globe and never show compassion or gratefullness toward those who helps and i think if we can help some persons it would be people that are grateful in their culture and the priority for america is to help the first civilization which is natives. they're not full of hatred , they got values, that's the type of people we hould focus on helping.
@@KoVJames Jesus christ
i feel so horrible for native americans, they have never been treated properly since the 1600s.
They have been at perpetual war with each other and skinned people alive, but Christopher Columbus is evil, right? In fact, when Columbus came back, the natives killed the people in his mission, but Christopher Columbus is evil, right? That's what I thought.
+Dagr8est Penguin Cristobal Colon his real name, not Columbus, was a mass murderer who tortured Natives who wouldn't convert to Christianity. Natives did have SOME Wars, never all against every First Nation, and they didn't commit the same level of atrocities as Europeans Invaders did. Colon's people were actual criminals from Spain's dungeons which included rapists. Scum of society not unlike him considering many believe now that he was a mercenary. So yes, he was evil. Now shut the fuck up and talk shit elsewhere.
I'm just saying, Native Americans were bad, too. And why did you correct me on Christopher's name? It's his English name.
Dagr8est Penguin how were we bad explain??
Cristoforo Colombo wasn't English (He was italian, Cristobal is also wrong since that's in Spanish). But you wouldn't know that would you? Since you like him so much and follow his ideals you too must think that "Cristoforo? What kind of shitty name is that? No. That name is wrong. Your name now is Christopher." He deserves being stolen of his identity like he stole the identity of so many others, so please, do keep on calling him the wrong name.
the girl with the big earrings is soo beautiful because she's talking the truth and it makes her flawless....
I think she's beautiful, not just because of her appearance but she speaks with passion.
She is Mexican American!!
She's a master at emotional manipulation. Natives Americans tend to be good at that for some reason. But this whole video is nothing but crocodile tears. Nobody support the reservations system except PC liberal saps and ethnocentrics Indians, ie the kind of people who make these videos.
Dennis M if you haven’t lived it just shut the hell up.
@@Dennis-nc3vw dude what the fuck is wrong with you?
I hope they don't think we forgot about them. I admire Native American culture the most, out of ANY culture in the world. Im Italian/British, but being born in America, I had never met any in person, but I was so intrigued by how they lived, and feel so horrible that they never are spoken of, besides Thanksgiving (Thanks for killing you? Don't get it). Know there are people that love you people, and cherish every second we see/hear you, because it serves as a reminder of one of the best, sharing, spiritual, kind people that ever were on this planet.
The Of ...I will dance till the rains come down and wash us clean and make us strong and new again! I will do a rain dance and with the feathers of a hawk and an eagle.
ArrogantAmerican333 why would they watch a video by prager university, they just spread misinformation 🙄
These videos deserves more views!! They need more exposure! It is extremely frustrating that a large percentage of people are still ignorant regarding this matter
Society needs to be aware of this!
They're ignorant for a fucking reasons. The only people who support the reservation system are ethnocentric Indians and PC liberal saps, ie the same kind of people who produce these videos. They want to talk about the reservation system enough to milk some crocodile tears, but not enough for people to actually understand.
Literally: tears. I can't even believe this. Really eye opening. I'm from NZ, so Native American history isn't taught, or at least wasn't at my school. But this is horrendous. Thank you for sharing. Such beautiful people, such oppression. Unfortunately that's the result of colonisation.
+LaVieEnRose I totally agree, I'm just glad we were required to be taught about aspects of Maori culture and history. As a country, we could have just as easily fell more into the side of colonization by whitewashing history much like they do in America. No doubt there's more we can learn but I feel like New Zealand has always been at the forefront of trying.
+Choice Lee Right! Crazy how different the direction of colonisation went in our country - let's face it, we are far more vocal about Tangata Whenua and even the Treaty that it's always a point of discussion regardless of your stance. This on the other hand is basically undermining the people of the land to the point they are out of sight!
Don't let these weasels fool you. The nature of reservation system inevitably produces poverty. Watch the video "American Indians Are Still Getting A Raw Deal." And the only people who will get offended if you say we should abolish the reservation system are ethnocentric Native Americans themselves and their politically correct liberal puppets. It is not oppression, they bring it on themselves.
You should learn about Australian aborigines
Ty for RUclips....
I ALWAYS get tear-y eyed when the Navajo woman spoke at the end, because what she said is so true.
I didn't tear up cuz I have a Heart of Stone but that's depressing they got a terrible deal
i am black and native american so both my people suffer greatly its hard to live....😔
you suffer because neither chooses to do anything except cry and whine? Sure sure, real 'suffering'
pupper doge agree
+Derp Scout People who whine and know nothing of suffering? Pants in excitement* Republicans!!!!!!
pupper doge I'm Native American when I see homeless people outside there mostly natives smh... 😐
reservations are not pretty at all. If you're a teenager and live on the rez your education is lower then the public education and you have very little chance of scholarships. On the rez you're taught that you have very little hope to go to college and things like that. Some reservations are just now getting cable in Oklahoma, reservations are not pretty at all, you might call it whining or whatever but what else can we do? We're taught from such a young age that natives don't matter and that we're some kind of joke, And It's Sad.
WE LOVE YOU, YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN
We have to fix this. Native peoples here deserve so much more.
I really admire the Native American culture!! I’am from the Caribbean same thing happened to us when cristopher Colombus came! Killed, stole, and lie!!
@Tonyi hope you know God told us to move west right
Spain lied and people died
@Tony well he did , looted brought natives from.the island to Europe and got sent to jail for that
That's all they did wen the come over made promises an never kept them . It's hard to trust people now because that's what they are taught or learned . Ignorancy is really bad
Conqueror gang rise up
I never understood reservations, my hometown was turned into a reservation and like the one lady said in the video its just drugs and violence magnified. Whenever I have a conversation with others about getting rid of reservations they always say "But thats the Native Americans home! That would be terrible to take that away from them!" But again like it was said in the video, reservations are rarely homes, they are prisons and Native Americans deserve to be supported no matter where they live, and if the government want's to end racism towards their people we need to stop pretending we know what's best for them. Thank you for these videos! You are all wonderful
+BlueMaroon|Sarah Goran Reservations are lots of lands that we're given to our people in hopes of making us happy but they were essentially camps in order to keep us in check. Reservations are pushing our youth to get educated and experience what the world has to offer them. Some return with degrees and try their hardest to change it for the better. But sadly like you said Alcohol and drugs play a big part in why they're in that state. Our youth think they have to follow in the in the footsteps of those before them and stay on the rez. Change will eventually come and it will be soon.
BlueMaroon|Sarah Goran I
BlueMaroon|Sarah Goran North America *is* the natives home think about giving a good chunk ( all of it ) back to them. government
Lee Francis lmao shutup you tugeye
Lee Francis kijeat
This breaks my heart. America owes natives so much.
My dad fought every single year for me not to say the pledge of allegiance in school growing up, not to accept their teaching of Columbus, and not to accept thanksgiving stories as true, and I never understood his arguments until I became an adult. He’s no longer here on this earth but MAN, his words and his being still ring so true to my heart, soul, and into the very fiber of my being. Thank you dad.
This is so sick.... I never knew it was this way...
cause the one who wins the war gets to write the history books
Mamie Gertrude it is. I know how it feels and grew up the Rez.
Cause its not. This is bullshit.
Spicybrownbean what ya mean spicy brown shit bean? I dont wanna hear this whiny assed shit. Im half black dude. Been hated by every race. I dont sit here and cry like some little bitch. And I sure as hell dont blame everyone in every race for what a few dumb asses did to me. Get over it. Grow up. If I misunderstood your comment I apologize. If you meant to insult me, fuck you and goodnight.
DooM Guy 83 😑 I hope we can stop with the disrespecting of each other. Not necessary. Please the both of you don't say anything more to each other.
I constantly watch these videos and cry, why? Cause I'm a native American and I want to do so much more than live on my reservation. If feels like constant jell cells surrounding me. I feel terrible when people say, "Oh... I'm so sorry. I feel like Native Americans are forgotten and go through so much.." No. We don't want your pity, we want a chance. A chance to save Unci Maka before she is gone, before we are gone. We want a chance to give you ideas on how to save the world, a chance at world peace, a chance at being the president. We don't want your pity. We want to help, to get a chance for once. We don't want these jail cells, we don't want poverty, we don't want disrespect, we want a chance. If that's asking a lot then get out, every single human being deserves a chance and deserves respect, we shouldn't have to earn it. We shouldn't have to demand it, we shouldn't even have to ask you of it. We just want a chance.
With these jail cells, I don't think we'll ever get them.
Guys, being equal is not hard. As well as world peace. It’s really simple actually. Love.
Love is unsurprisingly the answer.
Why do certain people feel they must act like the only people who are people are the people who look and think like them?
shayaaa Well said! You need a chance and I do pray that you get it! I pray that you get the rights you deserve!
WE LOVE NATIVE AMERICANS
treat them better than!
I think this needs to be known to everyone.
true true
It should be taught in our schools. The truth needs to be told.
Lo sabe
People can learn so much from Native Americans. They lived off the land and hunt for food utilizing every part of the animal that they could. They were a family that worked together daily cooking, hunting and making their own clothing. Beautiful Native Americans.
Hello Tamara, how are you doing today; how’s everything going over there 👉 I hope your day went well Tamara?
The Native-Americans DESERVER the VERY BEST.The Best Land The Best Houses.BEST EVERYTHING. I'm not Native-American. This is how I TRUELY feel.
The Native American series have been soooo eye opening. I got sucked in with the eating disorder series, then watched the black people series and woman series and I can related so they are beliefs that I can associated with, but wow this is crazy. Mind-blowing. Makes me so sad, but angry enough to want to research and create change.
This made me cry. I pray that the languages don't go extinct. I pray that natives get the help that they need. this made me so sad
What’s sad is all the racist evil people in these comments. Gives me no hope
the sad thing is the language is dying :(
So heart breaking.. this was years ago and I can only imagine the strength needed in these communities especially in these past few years to get through it all. I hope those shown in the video are okay and well on earth still today. They deserve so much more
I was raised in a reservation,
Still living in a reservation.
💔 lots of suicides and suicide attempts where I live 😞
thats sad
Sandy L why can't you leave? I'm sure you have some skills that are needed in other areas with more opportunity. You shouldn't be destined to just stay in one place. I hope your situation gets better.
+Katherine Jayne ☺️💖
Sandy L "Read"💪
Oh, the white people in this comment section....
how you gonna to tell the Native American that they are not a Native American????
ermasing it happens all the time. It's 2017 and people mix races. I have 3/4 Native American, Lummi, Tlingit, and Colville. I am 1/4 white, but still ignorant people tell me what I am based on how I look.
Corsica BS
I am a Cherokee, and note that there are a lot of half brother and sisters, mixed families, cousins, that are relatives of the Native Americans. There are so few Native Americans that they can not find a Native American to marry that is their own age, and they end up married to white men, and so the family is mixed. I know, as there was no Cherokee's my own age to consider for marriage where I live.
I will also add the rant that I just wrote to @Rushfan329325, In this I can say truly, we are the only race that the government kept
on a genealogy list, as they have not only our ancestors on a
"registry," but also kept up with the names of the Cherokee's all down
the line. There were 4 registries when they sent many to Oklahoma on the
infamous "Trail Of Tears," and even those left here in east TN were on
the registry lists. Our genealogy is on a government record, kept up
with, as no other race or nationality has been, in order to track our
whole race. We are the only race, or nationality, that the American
government did not want to allow to become a real US citizen, and if one
moves onto a reservation, they lose that citizenship, not paying in
taxes, but also no benefits such as social security. After having paid
in taxes all those years, if I moved onto a reservation, I would loose
all benefits, and no longer be a citizen. They do not want us to be
considered citizens, especially those on reservations, but they want to
enforce their US laws onto them... Funny how that works. I could get
started on an endless rant, and I will just save it, but note that we
are the only race that the US government has still singled out to
discriminate against.
fuck off dude, that doesnt give it the right to still do it. Your head is so far up your ass that you think just cause if you see someone discriminate that it should be fine to do the same thing? Log tf off
I'm very thankful Cut made this video because only recently have I, a white 5th generation American, learned that reservations aren't the happy, supportive places we're led to believe they are. I grew up being taught that we put Native people on reservations as a favor and that they were the only places they could now live in peace
Buzzfeed lmao
Bullshit. I've never heard anyone speak positively about reservations.
+J9 Shit lol
every time i see how native americans live today in " the land of the free & the home of the brave " ,,,, i see so many connections between them and the Palestinians and how they suffer from the Israelis ,,, thank you for this video #WatchCut
Ah, for this Christmas giving thing my mom signed up for it. It’s where someone from outside a reservation gives to a family in it. My mom bought anything the family wanted, it was a mom, daughter, and son. It was really nice. There was trouble with sending the gifts over in the reservation because so many delivery companies didn’t deliver to there, which made me realize how isolated all those Native American dare out there. Really hope that in the future everything turns better for the native Americans
It’s sad to think that it didn’t just happen to the native Americans, it happened to the Maori’s in New Zealand and when the Samoan queen was overthrown.
No shit everyone wanted to conquer new land back then they were weak so they lost their land that was a long time ago people were different than people today a human life wasn’t exactly worth much back then
These videos are so impactful, simple, and truthful. Very educational. Thank you.
All these "Native American" videos are a brilliant exercise in emotional manipulation. Nobody supports reservations except PC liberal saps and ethnocentric Natives. This channel is full of crocodile tears.
The thumbnail made me cry & this video made me cry
"People that are just like you"
I consider myself to be just like you and I'm sorry you feel that I can't be because of the place and culture I just happened to be born in. As far as I am concerned, you are one of my people, because everyone is even if they do not consider me one of them.
I think there are so many people who refuse to differenciate themselfes from others because of things we have had no influence over and I hope, more and more will grow to understand that there should be no need to.
It brings genuine tears to my eyes hearing them talk about reservations. I too am a native from Canada who lives an a reserve. We suffer, we’re isolated. Hearing this hits where it hurts but also brings reassurance. As my people would say; Chii-migwetch for speaking about such an issue.
Spain: vamos hacer una sociedad juntos.
What a great series - so happy to see some light finally being shed on these deep, important issues facing the real owners of this land
I'm sending this 'thank you' message from Korea. For all these times, I didn't know what Thanksgiving mean to Native Americans. Thank you for sharing and we haven't forgotten you guys. Once again, thank you for the video.
I can't help but to break down in tears to see such beautiful people with such beautiful morals and love to face such pain and still survive hundreds of years later keep fighting because the creator is coming sooner than you think 😢
There is a way out, where there is a will" there is a way" If you stay, you have to be strong to survive and struggle to stay alive. What does not kill you...will make you stronger.
And the United States is running around the globe to lecture other counties about human rights, what a hypocrite.
Im so glad no one disliked your comment.
Really?
Are they locked away?
Are they forced to drink alcohol?
Are they forced to beat up their family?
The bitter and resentful are the true evil persons. Since you are not allowed to criticise bad behavoiur.
Time to destroy some narratives. Get over it. The world is for the living. Not for crying over a past they had not to live in.
What? When we have ever done that? If anything it's the other way around. We are constantly being talked down upon. It's so annoying. Every country has it issues, even with race, whether they admit it or not.
@@sw.7519 😅 i understand why you say that, but the fact of the matter is...NATIVE AMERICANS THROUGHOUT ALL OF THE AMERICAS(LATINOS TOO) ARE STILL SUFFERING TO THIS DAY DUE TO 500+ YEARS OF MENTAL, PHYSICAL, SPIRITUAL & EMOTIONAL OPPRESSION. TO TRULY UNDERSTAND THE PRESENT. YOU MUST KNOW THE FACTS ABOUT THE PAST...SEEK TRUTH.
i knowww
wow. I never knew about this stuff. they don't teach us this in public schools even though my area literally is named after Indian tribes....
This video hit me. Not because I live in a reservation, but because these humans are suffering everyday.
Much love to all you guys from Dublin Ireland 🍀🇮🇪❤️❤️
So much truth and pain
the dude who said “it’s beautiful and sad at the same time” .... so true
growing up in the reservation, I was very fortunate to live on the outskirts of the Rez where it's only a few miles from a town off the rez. Reservation means Home for me, however, there is little hope and alot of giving up on the Rez. it's sad but also very rewarding when people from our community succeed in life.
In my opinion, there is corruption among tribal leaders in reservations. The tribal leaders receives money from the US government but instead of distributing it to tribal members and improving the conditions in the reservation, they use it for personal gains. Hence, many reservations are in decrepit conditions. Many members feel hopeless and have to leave the rez in order to survive.
It's my first time to see a gay native American.
Bruh wdym “gay”
Everyone's gay nowadays
@@ilovemynative5923 the guy was gay in the video
Yep its real, it shames out too.
Time to show Respect for all these amazing Native American people
I’ve seen the girl @1:04 in several videos now and she’s all tears-eyed 🥺
Its our time to rise!
The way colonizers treated Native Americans is one of the evilest things in American history.
no shit
You must not been revealed to the revelations of what the white man has done to all the darker people of the earth.
Yup
Damn, peeps in america were evil, peeps now are still really evil, hopefully the internet can serve as a catalyst to shine light on the dark and banish it for good before more shit happens, course that will still be ages but I'm somewhat optimistic in 70 years in the future everything will be drastically better then it was before
0:01 his emotions just hit me like a wave
Big respect to all native american peoples. You are the greatest warrior's and human beings of all times!
Native American, just don't give up! ❤
There is Native Youth killing themselves, I have seen it all happen, Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, all the kids are struct up on drugs, they deal with any kind of mental health such as Suicide, Depression, Stress, Anxiety, Bipolar. They all have been effected by the conditions they are living in. I happen to meet a couple of elderly women there who have been shared with stories and problems shared by the youth. And they take there problems towards the sweat lodge in hopes of tunkashila (father) may review them and help their struggles to let the youth to see a bright future. I'm afraid our own Native American Culture is dying, our language is dying, our generation is dying. I do believe that their is hope that can change all of this around in a whole new direction, a direction where we may find everything just right to pass it onto all of our generations. This may be the last time we might see our Native American generation. I really do hope someone or something can help change this around. Pilamaya (Thank You) for taking the time reading my comment, truly appreciate it.
This brought me to tears. I didn't know, I didn't understand.
this straight up makes me cry
I grew up on a reservation and simply seeing this video brought me to tears. Thank you for this and the awareness that could be understood by something so simple as word association.
I live on a small reserve populated by only my family. I like it because no matter where I go I have family but theres a lot of tension and corruption and very little resources.
+Emily Sanipass (ZombieBrideXD) Pine Ridge?
That's sad.
I'm only a small percent native American, but I am 100% Human and 100% able to feel the pain and suffering from these people... may God bless us all and help redirect us from this path of destruction the world is heading down.... smh
I hope that one day I could go to America to learn more about Native American culture and history and see everything by myself, I love Native American so much
Thank you so much for making this video. 18 years of my life I spent on my reservation. One word for me is caged! Am free now living off the reservation in Michigan!!!!
REZ, is home!! b with ur own people. get away from the white man.😚😋😎
So do you support abolishing the reservation system or not?
All native americans should leave the reservations and assimilate into american society like in mexico most mexicans are mestizos they left their indiguos communities and become sucessful it would be a great place to retire on the rez
@@davidortega357 what you are advocating is a cultural genocide.
the elderly woman in the last scene was on point. there are a lot of people on my reservation have committed suicide, including my father. people seem to think that's there's no hope so they just end their lives and leave their families. it's really depressing.
It is honeslty one of the saddest things in the world. When I heard about the reservation in Canada where 10 kids in one week tried to commit suicide and 6 succeeded, I cried so hard.
I feel the pain I was stolen from my home country of brazil being stolen by an abusive family same feeling it is your land you are the true ruler of usa
im a native from new zealand whos poeple fort and died for what we believed in but their was to many english at the time but we kepted fighting and the english stoped and signed a treaty with my poeple 150yrs later and we are still fighting over our lands.
We are called the invisible people but that can change from the Rez to The city as indigenous people we must rise up!
I love how insightful the kids are as well. I love this series.
As an Indigenous Aussie, my heart breaks for our other Indigenous brothers and sisters. This so unbelievable and yet completely believable.
In the USSR, a book about the Shawnee Indians was popular - Sat-Okh. Land of salty rocks - my favorite book of childhood, I read it many times. I have infinite respect for these people and their ancient history of living in harmony with nature. May the Great spirit be with you. From Russia with love. My name is bitter berry))), I don't know how to say it in Shawnee
im 25% Native American and seeing how my people get treated like this pisses me off if I had a billion dollars I would help so many even if theyre not from my Tribe
my Ancestors were here first
Scott Peterson glad to see you whites keep pushing blood quantums and the casino shit is a myth in all honesty though there is a lot of corruption.
Why don’t whites that are rich help other whites? Same question
If someone doesn't have a Native American background, they cannot fully understand what a reservation is. Sure people can relate to some level, but a person needs to live through this to get it.
growing up on the Rez I did feel like alcoholism and abuse and you know just different traumatic shit that went on was apart of life. I thought in every home it was like that. I think it's different with every tribe and every Rez because I still feel like even with my own community members there's a division because they're in "power." some of us got it rough and some have the luxuries of a nice house and stable environment to grow up in & maybe they're the ones who are doing good because early on somewhere along there family line they saw that if this is the way the community is going to be then they want to be different. I respect it because I enjoyed getting out of my house and going to there mansion. i enjoyed not walking everywhere and getting a ride. there just comes a time where you can't shit on the ones who are trying to overcome addiction and overcome trauma that they didn't even have a choice in facing it was just inevitable. when they overcome that I think my Rez will be whole again.
I'm currently enrolled in an American Indian history class and it really opened my eyes to the atrocities that Native American had to live through and are still facing to this day. I hope that soon all of their tribes will receive official recognition from the government and that they will be given the justice that they so rightly deserve. Don't always believe what you are told and always question what you learn. #nativelivesmatter
AMERICAAA YOU SHOULD TEACH YOUR PEOPLE TO VALUE YOUR CULTURE. NATIVE AMERICANS ARE YOUR CULTURE. here in Peru we dance our native songs at school (ALL schools)
America is home to many different people and cultures...
+That Thing You Think You See In The Dark I know... but look at this video: that say a lot of your rich culture but white Americans just don't care
@@saaamherrera It's more than that. Public schools off the reservation only teach US History from a European point of view. Native Americans are erased from our history and we are taught to leave Native Americans alone. That we are not allowed on the reservation and we shouldn't even try to get to know them. (because they have good reason to hate us) this divide was suppose to protect Native Americans but at the same time it has allowed them to become invisible to the rest of the US. It's a sad situation all around. I want to learn about Native American history in my US history class but that will never happen.
@@jerricho11 uh. A don't hate you personally, but I hate your country. 🤷🏻♀️
@@saaamherrera I understand and I completely agree. We fucked up and continue to fuck up everything we touch. I am ashamed of my heritage. There is literally nothing in the history of my people that I am proud of. This isn't white guilt, it is fact. And I don't want or expect someone to say "it's ok" cause it's not. I have excepted this and I want the cycle of discrimination to end with me but that is just a pipe dream. White people are cruel, arrogant and hypocritical. Always have been and probably always will be. I'm just a small voice but I'm still sorry for all the pain we have caused.
That said, thank you for separating me from my country. That you don't hate me but you do hate it. It is a distinction I don't feel I deserve tho. I have benefited from white privilege and it is at the expense of cultures like yours. If our roles were reversed, I really don't think I'd be-able to handle myself as well as you. I am angry at the actions and inaction's of my parents and grandparents, I am disgusted by the world that they built, but I have also been complacent and let it happen. and worst of all, I did it because I was ignorant and didn't notice anything was wrong. Even now I sit back and do nothing because I don't know how I could possibly help make things better.
Sorry for the essay. I get really passionate about how unfair the world is.
This is so heart breaking :(
Those genes they all have In common, so beautiful and amazing!
"Youths killing themselves because there's no future, there's no hope. That's a reservation to me." That hit hard and broke my heart, because it is so true. It hurts to see Indigenous people go through this pain. If people would open their minds to these situations Natives have been facing and continue to face, there could possibly be a difference and a change for our next generations. I live in Six Nations, Canada. I'm Cree and Tuscarorra. Reservation to me means isolation and oppression. I hope one day our future is alot brighter for our future generations.
I feel bad for all the native american tribes going through so much pain to this day.
You are all beautiful people. as a white woman I am so, so sorry for what this country has done to you and your culture. Please don't stop fighting for your rights, and I will use my privilege and voice to fight with you.
Russell Mean tried 2 stand up 4 U,U guys should do that.
My parents grew up on the Rez and went to residential school. This hit my heart so hard. My kno:ha would say " my girl, don't be afraid to fight for what's right...be more afraid to be still" I live by that even though both my parents are with the Creator. I instill that into my babies now.
Hello
In my lifetime, I have developed such an admiration for Native-American history and culture. I feel ashamed at the conditions, both past and present, that were dealt to them by Euro-culture, here in America. We have left them become invisible. They still enjoy living with and amongst each other, but have seen their proud culture be, slowly, dissolved. They deserve so much more. This was great and should be viewed by large audiences.
I have arthritis
I hate to see my fellow natives suffer for being a native is just makes me so...sad
The videos feat. Native Americans have been an eye opener for me.
❤I LOVE THIS PEOPLE
IO AMO QUESTO POPOLO❤
From Italy.......
I never knew. I actually want to do something for them now! if I get 2500 likes, I will put money toward saving the Native Americans.
That is incorrect, I am part Native American and I happen to care about them. They deserve more land and better conditions.
I feel so bad for them! The last lady's words are so true and sickening, I feel awful for them.
Breaks my heart. 😢
Every time I watch this it hits me like a train
I’m a muslim from KSA i love them and i wish Native Americans get back what they’ve lost ❤️
Oh, bloody hands of America.
UncleJohn72 This comment reminded me of Macbeth, when Macbeth said: Will all great Neptune’s oceans wash this blood clean from my hands?
I feel for these people, I really do. They have such a deep tormented history and unique culture. But I'm so so glad they're still here with us today because they are so much apart of America and its history and they are still fighting for the small things that their ancestors did. They deserve a lot more than this. I'm just so so glad the native Americans and their culture still exist today. What an amazing people.
Hell on earth. I am Native American that lives on a reservation and it is dark but the people are strong and resilient
maybe you should leave the reservation and actually become an American and stop hanging on to your dying culture that's holding yall back just like it held your ancestors back
@@TheDirtysouth276what are u referring to when u say their ancestors held themselves back? Are u referring to how they weren’t “technologically advanced” as euros? Cause I beg to differ. With euros in charge the world is dying. Our oceans are full of garbage, we’re breathing in pollution everyday, everyone’s doing hard labor yet living paycheck to paycheck etc
Cry about it
@@TheDirtysouth276our culture is whats keeping our SPIRITS ALIVE. something you obviously have no knowledge of. It's obvious you probably don't believe in God nor can look into another perspective. How dare you to say such things. Ur mouth is unclean idk why ur trying to direct the lives of others you clearly need to direct ur own life!
