Lookout is such a burner because it's not really that steep and I always feel like I should be able to go faster but never do. Great to see you fly up it Phil.
This was awesome to watch! The idea of crowd filming turned out so good, and all the people showing up and cheering activated my emotionless heart. Thanks so much for this!
I have watched all episodes, I really liked this format and people along the climb. Not sure how much of their footage was used but gives the project a much better feel. Nice ironic touch with the van.
I really love the experimental approach Phil is taking to making the shows. Using different film makers and not having a specific theme is keeping it fresh and not making it the same thing up a mountain over and over. Really fantastic approach in my opinion. Keep up the great work!
Fun video, Phil, and I liked your opening monologue and for some reason, your van reveal reminded me of the opening scene in Little Miss Sunshine where Richard touts his Nine-Step Refuse to Lose Program, funny and poignant and ironic.
These keep getting better and better. I especially enjoy the backstory snippets. Thanks Phil and thanks to all Phil's sponsors for this very entertaining series. My own retirement is a lot less challenging.
You had me on the edge of my seat watching this. Incredible effort taking that KOM . Best footage on youtube congrats to the director on the iPhone initiative getting all those angles added vastly to the experience. Look forward to reading your book.
Excellent. As for all of us there is perhaps some back story propelling us into similar challenges. This film pretty much sums up my inner world when chasing a strava KOM. So cool Phil you bring this to life and to film.
Great video! I enjoyed the story you shared regarding your connection to the climb and this is my favorite video to date! I look forward to the next KOM
A clever and fun overachiever at underachieving. I appreciate the dedication to Chad Young. I'm at the Gila right now for a weekend of riding, thought of him around every turn.
Cool. That's home town... looking up at it now. Sorry to miss the ride and visit but following now. I always had the record, via the local rumors, is/was Tommy D at 15:56/7... but something like that. Who knows.
Hi Phil you should come to Vancouver Can and do Cypress Mtn (12km 6.5% avg) its pretty easy a tempo climb with no real pitches I ride it in the mid 30's there is an event called the Cypress Challenge and the best time in that event by a pro was 31:08 I'm sure you could crush that! I haven't checked strata tho. And there is my favourite climb Mt. Seymour (12.5km 8% avg gr) The first part is a little over 9% then eases off and is around 7/8 through the middle with a couple false flats to pick up tempo and kicks up a bit at the end. It is around a 40-45 min effort for me ( cat 1) so like I said about Cypress you could smash them!!! come to Vancouver and ride these climbs!
Phil, you should get one of those GoPro cameras you mount on your bike. Then we can see what its like from your perspective. Might add a little weight but seems really cool.
Can you do a video for Old La Honda? You've already broken the spirits of all the locals but it would be awesome if you came back and did a video and broke you're record again!
if the road was closed and Phil was able to hit the true apex of the switchbacks then I'm sure that he would have shortened up his time enough to beat the true record
Jonathan Galang Special treated ceramicspeed chain. I think you have to buy the chain like that from the factory. They don't sell it as standalone lube.
Great time... I would ask, maybe silly but, did you have the right ending line? The timing is not to the B-Bill's signage but it's "Pillar to Post" and the post is a telephone pole back about 100 feet or so... so just asking. Great time tho! Awesome... What day did you film it? Looked like Aug 7 when I was up there in the clouds...
come to Lake Tahoe and climb Donner Summit...Barker Pass Road....or Mount Rose Summit. plenty of male and female pro's have been up here/train up here. time for you to beat'em!
Hey, I have an idea for a great Phil video. Why doesn't Phil the team director for The Worst Retirement Ever team have the "tough conversation" with Phil the bike rider about his performance on these KOM attempts.
Best episode yet! The crowd sourced media is such a good idea! Really enjoying this series...thanks Phil!
By far the best filmed episode.
Phil, I love this. Shows how the cycling community is so awesome.
I really love the experimental approach Phil is taking to making the shows. Using different film makers and not having a specific theme is keeping it fresh and not making it the same thing up a mountain over and over. Really fantastic approach in my opinion. Keep up the great work!
Next level KOM hunting with all the people. Now that's something new!! Another great one dude. Cheers
Fun video, Phil, and I liked your opening monologue and for some reason, your van reveal reminded me of the opening scene in Little Miss Sunshine where Richard touts his Nine-Step Refuse to Lose Program, funny and poignant and ironic.
Best episode yet! Loved the crowd-sourced camera work!
These keep getting better and better. I especially enjoy the backstory snippets. Thanks Phil and thanks to all Phil's sponsors for this very entertaining series. My own retirement is a lot less challenging.
Definitely the best episode yet. Production and concept were awesome. Loved this!
You had me on the edge of my seat watching this. Incredible effort taking that KOM . Best footage on youtube congrats to the director on the iPhone initiative getting all those angles added vastly to the experience. Look forward to reading your book.
Great work!--I can only imagine. Thank you for the Worst Retirement Ever series.
I'm afraid I lol'd at 4:07. Thanks for the insights and good job on the KOM! Thank you crazy people!
Best episode! Great job! Enjoyed the back story.
Best episode by far! Terrific editing.
Super cool video! The energy from the "crazies" had me pumped!
a naked guy running after you is good motivation to pedal faster
speak for yourself haha
Does anyone have that guys number? Asking for a friend....
Thanks, Phil! These are great! Looking forward to "Draft Animals!"
DUDE! the support u got on this one is AMAZING! Way to go man!
Another awesome show...thank you Phil. You make my day!
Not even at the riding part of this yet and it is the best episode ever! Thanks. :-)
You're the man Phil. Really enjoying the videos! Congrats on these KOM!

Awesome! Looking forward to meeting you at Mt. Washington on Saturday and hopefully finishing about 20 minutes after you smash the record!
Awesome. Favorite one yet.
A clever and fun overachiever at underachieving.
I appreciate the dedication to Chad Young. I'm at the Gila right now for a weekend of riding, thought of him around every turn.
This filled me with so many feels...
Great episode! Always use the crazies as they added to the event.
Awesome, love the method of filming this one, very unique. 👍🏼👍🏼
Best one yet! Keep them coming!
That was an awesome video. Very well done
Great video. Nice to see the support roadside
That just made me bawl when you dedicated this to Chad Young. Peace
Cool. That's home town... looking up at it now. Sorry to miss the ride and visit but following now.
I always had the record, via the local rumors, is/was Tommy D at 15:56/7... but something like that. Who knows.
we need, you need europe edition ;)
best episode I've watched!! love the video idea and people cheering
Howdy Phil, I just read "Ask A Pro". Lots of fun stuff, thanks for the great read.
Thank you! Preorder "draft animals" next!
All in due time my friend, I'm just starting Pro Cycling On $10.00 A Day.
acceptable answer :)
Easily the best one yet.
Love your honesty.
You're ''silly show'' is getting big! And it's the best thing on RUclips...or anywhere!
Crazy people made it the best episode so far
Best one yet
Awesome channel, Phil! Never got around to Lookout Mountian, but it looks good!!!
Johnnyhumbkr Thank you!
Fun to watch this thing pick up momentum.
That was great. Thank you!
Great episode!
Fun videos mate. Keep them coming. Now you can't EVER retire!!! :P
Super entertaining episode.
Please do Mount Charleston Hill climb in Vegas.
Awesome. I love that climb.
Great video.
The truck is perfect for the episode :) I laughed sooo hard
Phil if you come back up to the Bay Area--try Highway 9 in Saratoga... I'd love to see what you can do in that! love the videos btw..
Phil is just the best.
You should come out to the Bay Area again and get the KOM at Mt. Umunhum in San Jose
Awesome!
2:53 New book? If so I can't wait!
Kevin it comes out sometime in October, preorders are on his website
the book actually was pretty good. well done
Congrats!

Some things just can't be unseen.

You're probably right. Bummer.
Amazing! How did you resist pulling off to check out the Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave?
Can you do a video for Old La Honda? You've already broken the spirits of all the locals but it would be awesome if you came back and did a video and broke you're record again!
Imagine how much faster you would have been if the road had been closed like in a race! Oh and Andy Tao is the BEST photographer!
You should do Donnor Summit in trukee CA
see ya at Mt. Greylock next September
I wonder how his fitness curve is, its been a while not being a full time bike rider.
Best video so far. Are you gunning for TD's Kim at Mt Wash?
the crowd filming seems to have worked out well.
The van is hilarious!
if the road was closed and Phil was able to hit the true apex of the switchbacks then I'm sure that he would have shortened up his time enough to beat the true record
What chain lube did Phil use? The frosty looking stuff?
Jonathan Galang Special treated ceramicspeed chain. I think you have to buy the chain like that from the factory. They don't sell it as standalone lube.
Not a climb but snagging the KOM for one lap of Central Park in NYC would be insane
"We saw the geese they were wasted..."
Epic! Crowd Videoing what a clever idea lol... I bet your watts spiked at 6:38 please confirm or deny this allegation.
Great time... I would ask, maybe silly but, did you have the right ending line? The timing is not to the B-Bill's signage but it's "Pillar to Post" and the post is a telephone pole back about 100 feet or so... so just asking.
Great time tho! Awesome...
What day did you film it? Looked like Aug 7 when I was up there in the clouds...
lucky you hit it on a windless day. mornings are usually sucky (strong west wind).
go man!
"One guy was wearing nothing but a cardboard cookie, yeah that was probably the highlight of the climb.. yeah umm yeah" - Phil G
I have a good idea, buy a shitty Walmart road bike and attempt a KOM on that, maybe not a long climb but a short punchy climb
way to shout out Chad Young at the end.. R.I.P
Dude, 420 watts average...
come to Lake Tahoe and climb Donner Summit...Barker Pass Road....or Mount Rose Summit. plenty of male and female pro's have been up here/train up here. time for you to beat'em!
Hey, I have an idea for a great Phil video. Why doesn't Phil the team director for The Worst Retirement Ever team have the "tough conversation" with Phil the bike rider about his performance on these KOM attempts.
Is he still in the USADA testing pool?
SleepyCreek yes
Phil Gaimon why?
Do u still race official crits?
The stuff of "Legendary... Cult Classic" and revealing according to the Maths👍.
Mike Carter has probably the fastest time…..sub 16 minutes. Bob Cook Memorial hill climb, back in the day.
Gavin Mannion beat your time on lookout by 10 seconds yesterday, at the time trial. You’ll have to come back for redemption!
Thank you Phil!! Stop getting fired!!
“I saw the geese and they were wasted” 😂😂😂
Philnominal!
Wish I got 50 people to cheer me on when I got for 17th place on a Segment
You need some peanut butter jelly bellies after that one.
My backyard!
