I was just doing some work and using my "3-Legged Thing" monopod and gripping to myself about the way it's adjusted. I thought to myself, "Where did I see that cool monopod?" Ranger 7! The Onion is expensive but the aluminum one might work for me. I appreciate your cutting-edge reviews. Thanks!
Well, I'm back. While I really like the Onion, it's too expensive at this time, so I thought I'd try that base you use, the Cayer. That thing is impressive for the cost. Must sturdier and less likely to tip or for the ball joint to get loose. At least it will make my current monopod a little easier to use. Thanks again.
The Onion is fantastic. I haven't stopped using it since I got it. They do make a cheaper aluminum one that is just as good. Yes, the Cayer is great. Not sure if the company is in business anymore, which is a shame. They had great customer service.
Really appreciate the candid review. Just a question do you have any other (more universal) suggestions for the feet? The Cayer Tripod stand isn't available in the UK...
Unfortunately no. YC onion told me that they were going to make wider feet, as well as one with a pedal. So you might want to watching for that when it is released.
@@Ranger7Studios ah that's unfortunate - thanks for the update. I've just put my order in for the monopod today; extension, carbon fibre with the fluid head. I'm just dreading the import tax 😅
I would go with the onion. I will say that you will have to mount the lens to the monopod for better balance. Then mount your camera on the back of the lens. Also, i wouldn't walk away from a 70-200. I did that once and then tripod fell over and the lens broke. So be careful. ;)

It is a not cheap, but it works extremely well. It's now my go to.

do you think the ifootage would have no issues with a 70-200 mirrorless, or would the onion be better? do you miss the loss of length using the onion?
