The wire bib worked well.
However, it is practical to attach the hook line to it via a swivel, so that the line does not twist in running water.
The length of the hook shank should not exceed the length of the straight leg of the wire bib, so that the hook shank does not get tangled with the main line when casting.
The method works very well!

I remember I used such things on donks in the Gulf of Finland in 1993)
And one experienced fisherman taught me how to make such leashes. This equipment has been in general use for many years.
Comfortable. The main thing is not to make leashes from fishing line too long. Otherwise they will twist around the main line. Well, after a large fish, the leash looks more like a spring). Throw away only. Luckily they cost pennies. And one more tip - it’s better to make the tongue in the shape of a trapezoid, almost connecting the corners at the top of the tongue. It holds up better.
This is what we call as a boom back when I was 14 years old, made from sprung wire.
In the UK they are called French Booms I have been using and making them for over 30 years
Same here. Ive neen using and making them to use on our longlines here in New Zealand for the same amount of time. I make them with a twist at the top which stops them moving and either a standard or ball-bearing swivel at the other end. They have a lot of uses in different fishing types and Ive seen massive fish landed on them with no distortion or damage.

Сам давно такие делаю, только спайка и также под термоусадку. Через заводное кольцо цепляй что хочешь - хоть поводок на щуку или китайский держатель лесочного поводка.
Помнится использовал я такие штуки на донках на Финском заливе году в 1993 )
А научил меня такие поводки делать один бывалый рыбак. В общем оснастке этой много лет.
Удобно. Главное поводки из лески не слишком длинные делать. Иначе будут закручиваться вокруг основной лесы. Ну и после крупной рыбы поводок больше похож на пружинку ). Только на выброс. Благо стоят копейки. И еще один совет - язычок лучше делать в форме трапеции, почти соединяя углы в верхней части языка. Лучше держится.
А я на Неве в году так 78м)

Will need to test this, keeping the hook & bait off the bottom will help a lot! Saved to my fishing playlist to fiddle with when I have put together a tackle list.
You do know you can just tie a knot. It would save about $20 and 3 hours. And you can make a whole sh1tload of the rigs within 30 seconds, just like on fishing boats.

Что то не понял, вроде бы делится ноу хау, а мы ловим так издревле. Называют,, гитарка,, или,, балалайка,,. очень удобно и быстро про ловле на резинку или перемет.
Для мене це теж не нова снасть, та для більшості моїх підписників це реально ноу-хау. Я і не думав що буде такий інтерес до звичайної гітарки 🤷♂️

Not like this. In New Zealand we make these to fish long line from off the beach. As the line is rolling out, this design makes it quick to attach the hooks with bait on the line. Have caught many fish with this design.

what is the use of the coil next weight
If you catch a big fish...wouldn't it bend the wire and get away with the hook still attached to the fish?
Depends on the size of the wire you use and the strength of the fishing line you use. To test just tie on a stick instead of a hook and find out which is weaker, the wire, the line, or the drag, by pulling on the stick simulating a big fish. Then you can see if you need heavier wire, line, or both. Adjust until you’re satisfied with the testing. But with .8mm stainless wire I’m sure it would take a LOT more force to bend the wire out than to break 20lb test line.

Sorry but no ways on earth that will hold up to landing a big fish😅.
Some fish can bend the hooks (almost Open) so this won't work if you catching a big fish.

Ці гітарки ще мій батя використовував. Звичайно треба дивитись по обставинах і підбирати способи риболовлі і оснащення…
позавчера пришел к такому выводу, когда клевало лучше на кормушку-пружину, сделанную полностью из пластика, груз был отдельно на расстоянии 15см. Точно такая же кормушка и оснастка, но из сварочной проволоки показала себя намного хуже.
Интересно, а в какую загогулину согнет эту приспособу рыбёшка с 0.5 кг?
