For some more context, Super Mario And The Rainbow Stars was made with an engine called Super Mario Bros X where anyone can easily make their own 2D Mario games, and it’s home to some criminally underrated fan games.

No offense but thats just something an indie developer should do. AAA studios would send a C&D and demand 50% of their life savings in court.
Nintendo did let an indie developer make a Zelda game with Cadence of Hyrule. Maybe it's time to let indie devs have a try at Mario cos there's obviously a lot of talent out there!
Don't forget that the best 2D Sonic game (Sonic Mania) was also basically an indie title.

I’ve wanted Nintendo to do something like this for a while- basically the opposite of 3D Land/World - 3D Mario gameplay in 2D instead of 2D Mario gameplay in 3D. Closest thing that comes to mind with fan games like this is Super Mario 63. I’d love to see an official take on this concept though. If they give it a story like Super Paper Mario it would be perfect.
This game looks extremely fun to play honestly! I very much love its artstyle and vibe, it kinda reminds me of some old flashbacks I used to play as well as the good old Mario & Luigi rpgs. It's both nostalgic and very modern.
Super Paper Mario is one of my favorite games, so this looks amazing.

I was disappointed that Mario Wonder removed almost all the items that they used in past Mario games, it would be great to be able to revisit some of the items that Nintendo doesn't want to bring back.
Wonder should've focused more on what super mario bros did right, the abilities, bosses, environments

@@NathAnarchy45A really crappily implemented gimmick, i should add. So many of the wonder events are boring, re used and dont add much to the gameplay.
What I'd really like to see in the next 2D Mario game is something just like this (using old power ups and move sets and adding in dialogue and a story) but with the 2D Mario art style just like Wario Land Shake It! did. Adding some 2D animated cutscenes in there would be amazing to see too!

YES! I've had my eye on this project for a few years now and I can't wait 'til the full game is released. Wonder was cool, but this is the real 2d Mario I've been craving since Super Mario World! Really hyped for the day this finally drops.

I've always enjoyed sonic over mario because its got more of a story and fast paced gameplay. So its really awesome to see something like this.

I played this demo last night and before I knew it, hours had past. It’s definitely a great fanmade game gushing with awesome graphic potential. Nintendo’s games are always solid, but they should be taking notes from these fans. This game gives ode to so many Mario games in the franchise while being its own game.
What made old 2d platformers great was there was barely any dialog to sit through. You just played the game
I played the whole demo and it feels like “what if someone made a sonic game with Mario mechanics”, in the best possible way.
I swear if Nintendo lays a finger on this game it had better be to hire whoever's behind this

Did you heard about Super Mario 63? It is a great 2D "Open World" Mario fan flash game, mainly based on Super Mario 64, but with FLUDD from Super Mario Sunshine, and with several mechanics from Super Mario Galaxy. It even have a level editor as well.

This Mario Fan game takes me back to the Flash Games Era! I remember playing some games like this back on a website called Friv from back in the day and also another amazing Mario Fan game that I remember playing a little is Super Mario 63 and that was an amazing game as well! I just hope that the Nintendo Ninjas Don’t see this and try to take this down though.

Reminds me of old newgrounds flash games like Mario63 where the style is inspired by super star saga and its a jam cross over of the entire Mario franchise
I don’t get why these indie devs don’t just make their games “Mario-inspired” instead of actually going for Mario. I mean this game looks very polished; why not just replace the Mario characters with original characters and then they have their own game? Then they don’t have to worry about getting shut down by Nintendo.
This art style gives me a Gameboy advance portable adventure type vibe. The boss fights are whay really sold me though😊
This looks like the Mario equivalent of Sonic Advance for gba. Believe it or not there was never a brand new Mario game made for the gba during its entire lifespan.
So due to the fact that this version of a Mario game isn't graphically demanding it can be a longer game. I would think at least.

SMB Wonder is great, only one thing I miss is bumping into each other. It kinda makes things more challenging and fun playing coop.

tbf theyre releasing a new console in like 6-8 months so theres no point of making a ton of new games for a nearly outdated console

It's started being working on Why before Super Mario Bros Wonder. It's still in early development. The demo is coming soon though.

That art style looks really cool, but Nintendo wouldn't be able to make a game that looks like that because people on Twitter (or I guess X) were complaining about Mario Wonder's art style, so imagine what the nerds would say if Nintendo made a game like this now in the modern era.
