I discovered Dimmu Borgir in 1996 - this was the first album I listened to. A classmate and friend of mine, Eivind, were the one who opened my ears to this. During the early summer of 1998, Eivind and I went on a school outing. I brought my discman - he forgot his. So we shared; one earplug each. Walking through the dark Norwegian forests together, listening to this fantastic music together, shaped both my future taste in music, and my love for the untouched wilderness. December 24th, 1999, Eivind died in a car crash. Two weeks before, we met up and agreed to go on a trip in the norwegian forests again once spring came. That was never to be. More than 20 years later, having listened to countless songs from a plethora of bands and artists, this particular track is the closest to my heart. This was - and remain - the track that defined and cemented our friendship. Good night Eivind. And thanks bro.
Pure magic, earlier albums just have something so majestic and beautiful that drives me to another dimension. Wish I could turn back time and see them live in these times. Current Dimmu and last 2 albums just ain't it for me like before...
So awesome to see Hellhammer play this song. And awesome that Dimmu played this song in general. This was my favorite song from the album. It just finish the album so beautifully. Makes you dream and think
Brilliant live version of this incredible song. The only criticism I have is that I wish they would drop those clichéd heavy metal guitar endings at the end of some songs.
Lol, all solos and lead guitar were played by Shagrath on this album. And they had played it once in 1997, Astennu’’s solo was not good and not bright. So, y should say : I miss Shagrath’s solo :))
Mustis was so damn awesome that after they fired him (and ICS Vortex), they had to hire a full orchestra, to capture the incredible atmosphere he put into the songs. This version sounds even MORE ethereal and atmospheric than the studio version, the man is a damn genius. I don't think the band really recovered from his loss, it was a terrible idea. I miss him terribly, him and Vortex are the reason my favorite Dimmu albums are from their era. :/
It was written by the original keyboardist, Stian Aarstad. Mustis is brilliant but I really enjoy the material on EDT where Stian wrote much of those classic melodies.
stop the galder hate overhere. I actually asked him once why he played the solo's not the same. He answered, that those werent' his solo's, so he decided to give them a spin of his interprettation
@@mallorn4195 first of all, you’re not a musican are u.. second, wow, omg it’s impossible to believe someone met a person from a band!! Holy smokes! Miracle!
@@caprise-music6722 😅 calm down, bro. First of all, I am a musician, I've been playing guitar for 25 years. Secondly, you don't have to be a musician to compare two guitar players. And thirdly, I have also met the band when they played in Vienna in 2005. Big deal.
This song just isn't the same without Astennu's ending solo... The amazing keyboard work is still there, but without that final lament the song sounds hollow.
I think this is one of the best songs on Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. The whole album is great actually.
The song that made it EPIC and DREAMY
yes but the epic voice chorus added during the chorus gives this an extra taste of epic
It was best BM album for 1997 :)
Todas son buenas....
It's a masterpiece.
I love how Mustis has the keyboards improvised a little more complex than the studio version..
Mystis is my favourite DB Keyboarder.
always, dude was spirit of that band
there's something about their old sound that really takes me to places
There's something? They are masterpieces.

The one performing the drums is Tony Laureano (:
For some reason, I think that this live version sounds much better than others.
I agree. I think it’s because the drums are keyboard are better mixed and more prominent

I'd give 1000 likes for Mustis, the whole song over his shoulders!
