The first service call of harvest 2020 happend today on a John Deere 9560 combine for no A/C. we found a failed compressor clutch and had it back up the next day.
We left the farm in 1964 the John Deere combine we had never had an issue with the A/C or heat or the cab lights or doors or windows because there was no cab. Just sit on the seat and eat the dust and whatever else blew by. It was great in wheat and corn and early beans it was hot and dirty, in late beans it was cold and dirty and if it was a really wet fall and you were mudding out the beans in January it was a dream job, remember nightmares are dreams too.
I used to work in a union sheet metal fab shop....we'd time to time make augers for the the threshers on those things.....usually for LESS than what Deere Sold them for!
If you haven't found a replacement gas tank for Chris wife pick-up, if I remember correctly, you need to "inert {Co-2, or Argon etc approx 5 lb's psi or less} gas purge" the tank, while welding on it. Same as when welding say a stainless steel pipe / tube, and you want that look of a smooth weld on the inside of the stainless steel pipe / tube, while only welding on the outside.
@@siaripop7 That;s not unusual. I ran a body shop and we had a taxi come in. Yellow cab yellow was a patented color that they wanted a pretty penny for.
No I was only there last night to look at the one there were looking at for my sister. Instead mom got herself a car today. I'm guessing dad will have a video soon.
@@irongoatrocky2343 Always try to cross reference parts numbers. I needed a Coolant temp sensor. John deere wanted $87. Found it was the same sensor used on Kias. Kia dealer wanted $37, Napa had it for $27!
Not sure if it's relevant here, but food for thought on that compressor clutch: Some will not engage if there's not ENOUGH charge in the system. I know nothing about big shit like this, and I'm sure you probably already know this quirk some compressors have, but just in case you don't, I'm throwing it out there.
Back up the bus. Didn't they say they ran power direct to the clutch?! Plus they commented that there was not enough "Freon" to engage the clutch. So they were a step (or three) ahead of you.

Nothing like a shirt full of chaff to make the day go better 😄

I see the problem it's GREEN!
Yep lol. Unfortunately John deere's stance on right to repair has forever ruined their name with me.
My grandpa told me once that the reason they painted them green was so that you could hide them in the weeds when they quit running.....
@@notajp That color green has a patent on it too! You can only get it through a John Deere dealership!

Did you film the car shopping with your Mom?

Why not just change the clutch? Was it not available separately? Would be typical for Deere.....
Non serviceable unit. The customer purchased the parts but i believe it was well over $500
Deere will bend you over at the parts counter worse than any auto dealership parts department will!
