I know this is quite late, but small correction (sort of) from early on about Phil. Its not that he doesn't have an inability to count. Its that he is counting the number of words that would be used in Greek, instead of in English. Or, at least that was how it was in the Hercules movie. The writers for Kingdom Hearts didn't get that memo, so they screwed that up a number of times by legitimately just making him say the wrong number. So, I guess if you go by intent of the character, that would be a correction, but if you go by execution, then my point is moot.
One of my favorite funny moments KH3 when Sora Tells Donald that is Face is Unforgettable 😂in Tangled World one of the cutscenes and also Ham from Toy Store World running away from that Anime Doll Boss Fight Cutscene.
When you cut it off at that, it is funny, but at least to me it's actually a pretty grounded moment. Riku is being pretty stupid there, and Sora's recognizing and trying to point out a legitimate threat to the safety of his friend.
I think it’s more that Sora is being real with him rather than just insulting him. He’s calling him stupid because Sora himself has seen what heartless are and what they can do, he views Riku trusting them as completely and utterly brainless.
3:28 I can just imagine Pat blankly staring at his computer for hours on end and making tallies every once in a while. When questioned why he was tallying by an innocent bystander, he tonelessly replied, “Because it was funny.”
the funniest thing ive ever seen in kingdom hearts is after Terra shoots Braig in the face and he just. Hops away. I laughed so hard i had to pause the game
"I think Eraqus was the funniest person who lived in that world given what he was like in Dark Road" I've never seen the Wayfinder Trio more thoroughly and accurately destroyed in my life.
No matter what you think about KH3, whatever its faults, you have to agree that Axel saying "I can't memorize all of this!" about the plot is absolute gold
And also in kh3 Lea trying to wrap his head around that Roxas and Ventus look about the same and then says "and this is a lot to get memorized!" Us too Lea us too
Kind of feels like a dig at people who have a hard time keeping up with Kingdom Hearts's storyline, which doesn't help that Nomura withholds plot elements and will inexplicably mute pieces of dialogue during cutscenes only to reveal what they said three games later. It's really annoying that he has the same writing problem as J.J. Abrams, the Mystery Box method.
The idea of Sora saying "Ah well, I guess that's the way the keyblade crumbles" is actually comedy gold. Nomura hire Pat and make this happen in KH4 please and thank you.
I know your comment is year old but consider that xehanort is basically dead and the real organization is gone and demyx and luxu are only nobody still alive, I doubt we'll get more interaction between members but then again, KH are known for bullshit stuff out of its ass like time travel (I'm looking at you xehanort) or fake death so who knows? Maybe we might get more organization interaction
I gotta say, I love how you use footage that subtly relates to what you’re talking about, like at 3:19 when you use Buzz counting the toys when talking about counting the amount of funnies in the series. I noticed a ton of instances of that, and it adds a lot of quality to the video!
I cant remember which video, but in one of the videos he was talking about Pirates of the Caribbean. And he said "and say what you Will, or even Elizabeth..." while showing the two characters on screen. That was one of those "so bad that it's good" moments. I groaned but also couldn't help but chuckle at it.
I want to mention as someone whos played TWEWY, Beat is legitimately like that for at least half of that game as well so yeah. I feel like a lot of the TWEWY characters were made way more accurate than some of the FF characters in KH, which is wild to say, but I do really think it's accurate.
I know that the manga wasn’t factored into the ranking, but I just wanted to bring up that the 358/2 Days manga was absolutely hilarious in parts, especially with Roxas and Xion. A couple of my favorites include: Demyx trying to use steroids to fight Hercules, Xion gushing over Pluto, Roxas finding Xaldin getting drunk/high on fruit, basically the entire trip to Wonderland with Roxas and Luxord, and Xion trying to make a plan for the day off and getting increasingly horrified at Axel’s desire to go back to bed. There are a ton more, especially in the early/mid chapters (basically before everything goes to hell about Xion’s identity) Though, really all the manga has great funny moments. At this point I’m just trying to get people who haven’t gotten their hands on the manga to read them
I've not really read any of the manga, but I do know of one really funny moment. In the KH2 manga, when Sora goes to get his new outfit from the Fairies, they initially put him in a full princess ballgown. (Also Yen Sid knitted a mickey mouse cover for the Keyblade.)
@@digifreak90Compared to the manga for the first game, they really ramped up the humor for the other ones. I guess the premise was goofy (hehe) enough at the time that any kind of humor would be supplementary, but as the player got to know the main characters, the more natural humor started to slip in.
While people cite the KH 2.9 bit as peak Nomura Trolling, to me the moment that got me the most was after the heart wrenching scene in the Keyblade Graveyard in KH3 and text just pops up saying, yep everyone died, the end. It was such emotional whiplash, I loved it!
top moment for me is in kh2 / 358 days when Riku asks roxas, "Why? Why do you have a Keyblade??" and its so tense and serious, and roxas just goes, "...SHUDDUP!!"
There're some particularly memorable moments from Unchained x that I wish got a mention- Not that I dont understand why they were either missed or left out, considering binging the cutscenes is already a massive amount of pain. The first is the player character's desire to break down doors with the Keyblade: They do the whole prepping for Keyblade beam thing in Wonderland and Cinerella world, and when they're stopped both times they look disappointed. Speaking of Cinderella world, if the avatar is set to female, then when you're talking to the duke he wants to have you try on the slipper. You can't, but the player looks really disappointed at not being able to. Then your Chirithy will scold you because you know it belongs to Cinderella because you've literally been helping Cinderella out. Then, of course, there's the infamous "my friends aren't my power" scene, truly one of the most horrific moments in the series. I agree that the game has to be low tier considering the sheer quantity to quality ratio but I wanted to spotlight some of my favorites moments from it.
26:34 I can't believe you didn't mention Riku literally yeeting a stick at Roxas as payback for him accidentally unintentionally hiting him with it when he tossed it aside. Also Riku "fighting" Sora in land of dragons, shrugging, and the dipping.
The "Kingdom Hearts II.9" title drop in KH3 gave me one of the hardest belly laughs with any game after waiting years upon years for the next "numbered" KH game.
Disney and Square Enix pulling a VALVe with that one! I legit laughed my ass off when i saw that the 1st time. I even said "Welp, We'll have to wait another 1,000,000 years for KH3!"
sora being more dour and not really joking in the first game works very well because in the first game, his home just got swallowed by evil, all his friends but riku and kairi and his family are all gone, and he doesn't even know if riku and kairi are really out there, its just a hunch. until he meets riku in TT, he has no idea if he is the only one who survived his home world. plus, donald and goofy aren't really all that interested in finding his friends, seen in the deep jungle prelanding dialogue, where sora wants to land there and look for riku and kairi, but donald doesn't because he's sure that mickey won't go there. donald and goofy aren't even really sora's friends they are just using him, so like, sora is probably really depressed throughout KH1. it isn't until after HB and into KH2, when he knows that kairi at least is safe, that riku isn't antagonistic anymore, his home and everyone he knows are restored, and donald and goofy have proven that they think of sora as a friend that sora starts to lighten up and be happy. and in KH3, he's super happy because all his friends are safe and his home is restored. things are great except for the xehanort threat and the heartless, but thats something he's used to now.
Random thing I was reminded of. When I first played KH2, I still knew nothing about FF, so in the Prologue, when the Struggle Announcer says "the champion Setzer" and then Rai yells "Saifer" I thought it was a joke about how he got Seifer's name wrong and it's because this contest is a joke. Then 10 seconds later, Setzer actually shows up and I got confused.
I think using Donald and Goofy as companions was a genius move on behalf of Disney and Square Enix. Since it allows Sora emotional support during difficult moments in his life, especially following the destruction of Destiny Islands, and losing both Kairi and Riku in one way or another. Donald acts as the serious realist of the two, and can come off as being a stick in the mud, but he genuinely cares deep down. While Goofy is the approachable optimist, always thinking on the brightside and encouraging others to do the same. Plus, even Sora teaches the two to never give up throughout his journeys in each game. I'll always find the absurdity of seeing Final Fantasy characters (individuals who've been through a lot of drama and humorous situations in their own games) fighting alongside Donald and Goofy to be inherently funny, due to the tone shifts between the two franchises.
The earlier games had more mature elements (The Honey Bee Inn in Final Fantasy VII, Zidane being a bit of a perv in IX, Lulu's character design in X) but they also had a fair share of pretty light-hearted moments and likeable characters. With FFXVI coming out, there's no way they'd be able to use the characters in that game, considering how dark and explicit it is for a Final Fantasy game.
@@AluminumFusion22they absolutely could use FFXVI characters for levity in a KH game. There are many side quests in that game where Clive cracks joke or witty banter with his comrades, and Byron is a walking bundle of joy in every scene he is in. The comedy comes from how serious they appear in the outside to how goofy they can actually be when the moment arises. I could definitely see Byron acting in a similar kind of role that Scrooge or Cid does in the KH games.
I think the master is the funniest guy in the series purely because he is a genuinely funny person in a sea of people who take themselves way too seriously, it's such a great contrast
I want you to know that my genuine reaction to Pat saying he’s mad at me was to respond in the same tone as that one vine: ‘I’m a top tier bitch, you can’t be mad at me!’ As always love the video pat, thanks for the funny hahas💙
"Get into a fist fight over basically nothing" You full well know not too long before that he got socked in the face for basically nothing, he definitely wanted to get back at him for that.
Funniest part of the whole series is for sure Donald running into a barrier in the second riku fight in hollow bastion. I love how Sora doesn’t notice and goofy just turns around to look at Donald all concerned.
Hey Pat just wanted to say thanks for this. I had a genuinely rough day today (overworking at my job and in the middle of a move with little sleep) and I was so relieved to see a new Regular Pat video on my feed. Your content makes my day everyday you upload so thank you for being you man.
opened the funny counter doc just to make sure KH1 Sora's "you're stupid" was there lol. I replayed it recently and that got quite a giggle out of me. also whenever I went into look mode while goofy was right in front of me.
This made me want to replay KH3 :') The humor and lighthearted moments really carry this series. I don't think it would possible to get people invested in a Disney/FF/anime-esque story crossover without being a little camp and self-aware of how silly the premise truly is.
Watched the whole video, made me really appreciate how much life KH3 was given from all of the comedic scenes. I hope this version of Sora is here to stay, I feel like they really nailed his personality in KH3.
The funniest thing in KH1 I ever experienced was in monstro. I was throwing one of the barrels in there to the floor, so I could reach a spot you couldn't get to otherwise without high jump or glide. But I failed to realise donald was hanging onto a ledge right where I was gonna throw that barrel, and when it hit donald, he fell down and made an "ouch" sound. I had no clue that was a thing in all my years of playing the game and it made me laugh the shit out of myself. Goofy also gets hurt if you throw a barrel at him
I always took Axel/Lea's little monologue at the end of DDD is just Nomura being meta with himself. He says in the Ultimania that he sees himself as Xehanort. So he was just being cheeky that he set all this up but forgot to write the 3rd game.
Watching Tarzan in KH1 getting flung backard after the stealth sneak chirps is forever the funniest scene to me. I could watch it on repeat. It sounds like Tarzan got hit by an invisible car. The way he flies back is so funny
Thank god someone other than myself and James Arnold Taylor defending that scene in FFX. People call it cringe but like I swear 99.999% of the people who say that aren't even paying attention to the story, much less immersing themselves or putting into perspective what any of this means in their universe.
I want you to know that in my Pro Code run of KH3, I must have watched this video about 3 or 4 times fully through to keep my sanity intact, and rewatching it now, I still some very strong nose exhales out of many of these moments, and even a couple giggles and at one point a full-on cackle. Your videos are timeless artwork and you will never cease to be funny in my eyes.
You are too good - I genuinely was about to make a comment about you using fragrant instead of flagrant, then got interrupted by you calling me out. I laughed out loud so much watching this!
im 4 minutes in rn so i cant comment on the video as a whole yet but i just wanted to come in here and praise your editing style. i love the subtlety of it, like how you included the "meddling" scene in Wonderland when you're talking about "meddling with how we interpret these games"
Banger video Pat. From Olympus the difference in the banter style of KH3 was immediately apparent, and wonderful. I'm so glad we have you to point it out and talk so eloquently about it.
IMO, Re:CoM is the most *unintentionally* funniest KH story in repeating playthroughs due to dramatic irony. The story is so tragic, yet hindsight makes it circle into comedy for me for some reason.
Okay but Sora just nonchalantly saying "Nope. No Idea" at The Grid in KH3D was peak KH humor. I remember watching that cutscene and just laughing uncontrollably, and I was 20 at the time (I never owned a 3DS). Like seriously, that's the type of humor you can find in sitcoms and stand-up comedy routines 🤣
I'd count Sora's arm cross from failing Demyx's "DANCE WATER DANCE" move in KH2 as a joke bc I mean they could've easily just used the death screen, but Sora just gives up on, supposedly, his entire quest purely due to disappointment
I like to think "Unfinished business with this puppet" was an intentional joke. It just fits Riku's sassiness and leaning into the bad guy role for KH1
Loki in the terra Ventus Aqua Loki: you have got to be kidding me Ventus: come on Loki answer the question Terra: yeah if you’re adopted Dad has an apple and give it to your adopted mom and went back in time and got another apple is it the same apple? Aqua: or a different one? Loki: kill me
I like the moment where Zack says that Ven should come back when he becomes a hero and Ven says he'll never come back in that case. This is then followed by Ven never coming back and Zack being killed offscreen by Sephiroth. Real knee-slapper, Square.
I absolutely had my issues and disappointments with 3 at launch, but I'm so glad to see someone give the moment-to-moment writing in this game the time it deserves. Sora, Donald and Goofy has always been the most important team in KH for me, and 3 just turned them up to 11 and reminded me why I missed them so much in the long wait up to 3. Genuinely great humor, and hell, even with my issues with the story, the writing WITHIN the story just felt so good.
The joke with the "phil being unable to count" is that even though in english it's wrong, if translated to ancient greek it's the correct amount of words it's not the fact he can't count it's the smart joke about it's right in phils native tongue
Referring to that original KH commercial as a Siren Song is SO accurate. I've yet to come across an ad that has made me want to play a video game as badly as that one did when I was nine years old.
Honestly massive props to Ray Chase for bringing so much life to the MOM and and being able to nail the balance of comedic delivery and seriousness. Truly such a talented guy.
After that Patreon “advertisement,” if Pat ends up being forced to take sponsorships later down the line I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up joining Caddicarus as one of the only RUclipsrs to unironically succeed at making sponsorships entertaining to watch lol
No way, I got a reply and Pat also has good tastes! :D Also, you wanna hear something extra funny? I met Caddy at a convention in October, and he ALSO recommended brutalmoose when I told him this. Yeah, brutalmoose is pretty good with them too :p
Had to watch most of this audio-only because I’m exceedingly busy right now, but love it. Agree. The clip of MoM doing the “Oooooooh? Tell me more” made me bust up even in this video because I hadn’t seen it in awhile. Looking forward to watching again later when I can actually watch

I want you to know that my genuine reaction to Pat saying he’s mad at me was to respond in the same tone as that one vine: ‘I’m a top tier bitch, you can’t be mad at me!’
As always love the video pat, thanks for the funny hahas💙
The fact that Pat is talking about Popeyes sponsorship while Demyx says “I’m chicken” at 51 seconds is amazing attention to detail.
I have no idea why the casual “Winnie the Pooh astral projecting” with that footage made me laugh so hard lol
"Get into a fist fight over basically nothing"
You full well know not too long before that he got socked in the face for basically nothing, he definitely wanted to get back at him for that.
Funniest part of the whole series is for sure Donald running into a barrier in the second riku fight in hollow bastion. I love how Sora doesn’t notice and goofy just turns around to look at Donald all concerned.
Sully manhandling Vanitas alone makes KH3 the funniest game by leaps and bounds.
MoM being as funny as he is totally points to MoM being Demyx.
Hey Pat just wanted to say thanks for this. I had a genuinely rough day today (overworking at my job and in the middle of a move with little sleep) and I was so relieved to see a new Regular Pat video on my feed.
Your content makes my day everyday you upload so thank you for being you man.
This is legitimately one of the highest honors, thank you for saying that
@@RegularPat no problem man. You make people happy so some appreciation is definitely due.
Regular Pat is THE KH content creator… so witty and quick, he’s just too good
I’m sorry but I am laughing at every single B-roll clip because of its literal connection to the script 😂
That "Birth By Sleep" Xehanort joke actually got a snort out of me-
KH3 deserves to be at the top for the "Just like your face" joke alone. Sora's delivery and Donald's crestfallen face kills me every time.
opened the funny counter doc just to make sure KH1 Sora's "you're stupid" was there lol.
Jesus. Ill give you some algorithm help with that reverse it and flip it joke. Nailed it
Now, finally, there is *undeniable proof* that we totally owned you lamers.
this is the most regularpat video regularpat has made
KH3 was honestly the KH game that made me laugh the most between the interactions, roasts and quippy banter.
Agreed. It was really fun seeing Sora, Donald and Goofy bouncing off of the Disney characters and themselves throughout each Disney world.
Goofy fucking dying is so hilarious, I'm glad you included it since it's the pinacle of "trying to be serious but being absolutely hilarious"
Thank god someone other than myself and James Arnold Taylor defending that scene in FFX. People call it cringe but like I swear 99.999% of the people who say that aren't even paying attention to the story, much less immersing themselves or putting into perspective what any of this means in their universe.
I love how you always somehow manage to include relevant KH footage when talking, it's quite amazing :D
The funniest nuance to me about Lion Pete is that even though he's a literal big cat; as a quadruped lion, he can hardly physically function.
Pat my guy, the editinf in this was on another level. The subtle in the related b-roll was on point. Great video!
im 4 minutes in rn so i cant comment on the video as a whole yet but i just wanted to come in here and praise your editing style. i love the subtlety of it, like how you included the "meddling" scene in Wonderland when you're talking about "meddling with how we interpret these games"
thanks, I spend way too much time on it!!
Can I just say that your editing has gotten SO good
"Using the Fart." Things I didn't think I'd hear today.
50:29
Can’t count, just in English. Translate all those things into Greek and suddenly Phil’s counting is spot on.
the perfect synchronization of the scenes picked and what you were saying during the introduction did not go unnoticed and was done masterfully
"Where I'm from, Rosies and Donalds do not get along" the scream I just made 💀💀💀
Sora in KH3 was making me laugh from beginning to end. He got really sassy in that game.
Tinkerbell kicking Donald in the fucking face gets me every time
Okay but Sora just nonchalantly saying "Nope.
Cannot wait to watch this later! [currently busy].
I am sure it'll be some of your bet work Pat!
First you dream, then you drop, then you go the distance.
That makes sense.
Then you get re:minded then you listen to the melody as you put it in memory and soon we get to reconnect it all
Loki in the terra Ventus Aqua
Loki: you have got to be kidding me
Ventus: come on Loki answer the question
Terra: yeah if you’re adopted Dad has an apple and give it to your adopted mom and went back in time and got another apple is it the same apple?
Aqua: or a different one?
Loki: kill me
BRO 14:11 STOP PLEASE I CANNOT TAKE IT, THAT PUN WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD.
Crazy how big you got pat, been watching for forever now. Super proud of you keep at it!
Hannah Montana actually premiered four days before KH2 came out in the US :-)
I like the moment where Zack says that Ven should come back when he becomes a hero and Ven says he'll never come back in that case.
I love how the Namine in the photo is like; "Wow that ending in Chain of Memories was funny"
I’m surprised you didn’t mention
“Somebody tell me how I got sO SMAAAAAAAAAAAALL”
6:17 the unabashed adoption of the algorithms was, indeed, a funny.
Xigbar saying Xion is in the phase girls have 2 faces is still hilarious to me.
After that Patreon “advertisement,” if Pat ends up being forced to take sponsorships later down the line I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up joining Caddicarus as one of the only RUclipsrs to unironically succeed at making sponsorships entertaining to watch lol
you should check out brutalmoose if you like entertaining ad reads
No way, I got a reply and Pat also has good tastes! :D
Also, you wanna hear something extra funny? I met Caddy at a convention in October, and he ALSO recommended brutalmoose when I told him this.
Yeah, brutalmoose is pretty good with them too :p
30:25 Now I'm imagining Roxas frustratedly running around the halls in TWTNW until finally resorting to asking a dusk where the bathroom is.
Feels like a scene that would've happened in the 358/2 Days manga.
Pat once again I’m not only in awe of the quality but inspired by this vid you’re awesome
Your editing. Writing. Voice over. *chef's kiss* superb!!!
I think a particularly funny moment in 2 is the usually serious Riku telling Sora that he’s not “a total sap” like him.
Trust me, you are not the only person who thinks Dark Riku slapping actual Riku to the ground is hilarious
Had to watch most of this audio-only because I’m exceedingly busy right now, but love it. Agree. The clip of MoM doing the “Oooooooh? Tell me more” made me bust up even in this video because I hadn’t seen it in awhile. Looking forward to watching again later when I can actually watch
Wow! Played KH1 sooo many times but never realized that Donald was pulling the camera down 12:42 lmaooo!!
36:16 Pat: talks about Phil being mathematically incapable
Also Pat: shows a scene where the number of words matches up with Phil’s Maths
Definitely a charming series through and through, so it's nice to see how humor fares.
We might even unlock Laugh Form if we stick around.
"That's not Axel, that's Lee" was as funny and accurate a Sora calling Riku Stupid
Aight, ya got me. Phil captioned with "two words: i miss you." It was late but yeah, you got me.
Goddammit.
