As a Spartan dealer I have not had a bit of problems with any warranty claims, Spartan has been great to work with. This is My 4th season selling Spartan Mowers and The warranty claims are very minimal. We service every brand of mowers and the Spartans are by far the easiest to work on. Everything is wide open. Mr. Foster built these mowers to be user and dealer friendly. Most parts are the same for all models. Which keeps my inventory down.
I have the Spartan RT PRO 54" with the Kawasaki FS730V engine going on three years now. Love it and so far trouble free. Super heavy duty construction as compared to most other mowers in the same price range. The thing is built like a tank, even the pulley covers are metal unlike the plastic covers most other manufactures use. I looked at them all before choosing the Spartan. Exmark, Kubota, Bad Boy, John Deere, Toro, Scag, Hustler, Husqvarna, etc. are some of the brands I looked at and considered before choosing the Spartan. Its price and HD construction won me over.
Looks like a very well built machine with real thought out construction. IVE worked on many different ZTR machines in the past forty plus yrs. Ease of access makes repairs easier and less costly..
Nice timing! I have an old Woods mow n machine, made by grasshopper. It's so old you can't hardly find parts and when you do they're awfully proud of them. So I'm looking at replacing it this year. Spartan was one of the brands I'm considering.
I have that exact engine on my Cub Cadet XT2. I definitely love the exhaust note from this Kawasaki FR691V engine! The deck access on this mower blows away the XT2 for ease of deck belt maintenance.

Nice! I just got a rz-pro 54”. Can’t wait to use it. Coming from a 1995 Grasshopper 720k. Grasshopper is a great mower but don’t need the front mount anymore, it’s has a long hard life and the spartan was like $2500 less than their 100 series so I’m giving this one a shot.
1yr update. I just mowed did my 1st mow of the season the other day and I still love this machine. Full suspension seat is great. The 21hp Kawasaki feels more powerful than the 25hp Kohler I had on the grasshopper. As with anything, maintenance and care is key.
I picked up that exact mower but 54" still new last years model (which means $1200 cheaper than the 2022's) and it already had the 360 floatation and full suspension seat ($1000 upgrade) the thing rides like a cadillac.
Like the open design of this mower. Easy to get to the items you may need to service. Not like the John Deere crap. Close to my Wright Stander commercial mowers.
That's a good looking mower. I'm glad to see the cobbler's children finally wearing shoes, maybe now you will retire that 20-year old Murray. 😂 You do need to practice your 3-point turns, you're running a zero-turn now. 🤔✌
From what I can see of your yard I would suggest folding your ROPS down, unless you have a steep ditch bank somewhere. On those Parker Unitized drive units, they are filled with full synthetic oil and constructed without reduction gears hence fewer colloidal particles produced from wear. All equals longer fluid life.
I would be interested in the three letter prefix of the model numbers. and compare to the units on my Hustler X-One. They're made right here in Tennessee. 😂(Teeeeee for Texas, Tee for Tennessee)😂 Toro bought Spartan this past January. Kevin Kelley of K & G Mowers of Paris Texas theorizes a big incentive for Toro, was Spartan's engine allotment.
When the digital display goes belly up good luck. $300 for a tow hitch and $300 to get a just acceptable ride, a tiny tank (8.5 gal on the fastrak hustler) and a FR691V ( FX730V on the hustler) all makes for very poor value for money machine. 7 G deck. You mowing grass or going against a Panzer platoon. What are you running at to warrant something that heavy? I too looked at one and the Hustler beat it hands down in EVERY way that was important to me. I think it's just Toro making a bling mower for the noobs. Thanks for the upload. Very informative.
My neighbor used to mow my place with his Hustler and couldn't get to the perimeter of the pasture because the grass was over 3 feet. My new rz hd goes through it not problem. Hustler is good on our yard but if you have land, it's not even a comparison.
Mower Medic, I have a Kubota z421 with the fs730v kawasaki. My mower is an entry level commercial zero. I have a year left on the commercial warranty for the engine. If I upgrade to the canister style filter, does that usually void a warranty? I should probably ask my dealer, but was wondering what your thoughts were.
I agree. Taryl Fixes All did a video recently on a spartan mower with the tough torque transmissions I would suggest going and watching that video it’s very informative

I would say this is inline with a lot of commercial grade mowers.

I've had the RT-Pro since 2017. Been a great mower so far. Did have to replace spindle last season
That’s expected with any manufacturer, if you get five years out of a mower with only one spindle going bad you have done something correct

Yes they are direct drive and require 20% less power to operate, which equates into 20% more power to your deck
