"Countless" is the epilogue track on SHINee's repackaged The Story of Light album from 2018 and this album is part of their 10th anniversary celebrations. "Countless" was meant to be a special song dedicated to the fans, letting Shawols know how much we have meant to them over the years. So yes, it's sort of about time -- the time we have spent together as SHINee and Shawols. In other words, we have been together for a long time -- 10 years -- but there are "Countless" reasons why I still want and need you by my side, etc. I think the passing of time feeling you get is supposed to be a reflection of how time has passed over the years. Their anniversary marks the passing of time, as we think back on 10 years together and gear up for many more years to come. This song is supposed to be the happy ending to their anniversary celebration and I see the message in the MV as a reassurance to fans that they plan to continue to be the SHINee we know and love for many more years. "Good Evening," "I Want You," "Our Page" and "Countless" are all part of a trilogy of albums that make up The Story of Light, and the stories in the maintrack songs and MVs connect. Blue flowers, when equated with a message usually stand for love and inspiration, and when presenting someone with blue flowers you are telling them you will stay loyal and passionate about them. In "Countless" I see SHINee presenting blue flowers to use Shawols saying, they are promising to stay true and loyal to use and to keep the passion they have as a group alive -- they are promising to keep on working hard to give us their best. Which is fitting because "Countless" was the song that helped to bring their message in their Story of Light album to a close and showed us that they will continue on and work even harder to continue theirs and Jonghyun's legacy, etc. Plus, pearl aqua blue/green, is SHINee's fan color so there are always blue images and blue colors in their MVs. Blue has a lot of important messages when it comes to SHINee. Fun fact: During promotions for their 10 anniversary, the members all said that when it came time to renew their contract after 10 years, they each separately went to SM and resigned without even discussing it with each other. They all said they felt like there was a lot more they wanted to do and accomplish as SHINee and they didn't even need to think about it. As you know, this album was their first comeback after Jonghyun died, so that is why this was such a poignant time in SHINee's history and why it is so important to fans. "Countless" also was SHINee's last group comeback before Onew, Key and Minho went off to serve in the military. So, this album is all about Jonghyun and every song has something to do with what they went through in the 6 months leading up to this album release, etc. As you have heard, "Good Evening" is about SHINee's grieving process and the way the public sees them. "I Want You" is about learning to find happiness again and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened and "Our Page" is the members telling their story and what they want the world to know about them as a group and what they will remember and miss the most about Jonghyun, etc. And "Countless" is showing how SHINee has now come out on the other side and is now ready to start to move on. Taemin's style of singing, especially in SHINee songs, is a lot like Jonghyun. And as you have probably noticed with their songs, such as "Why So Serious?," Taemin fills in for Jonghyun whenever Jonghyun was unable to participate in a performance. And even today, Taemin often takes over the high notes and the parts that I think would probably have been Jonghyun's parts in their new songs, as you hear with "Countless." Jonghyun was the one that really took Taemin under his wing and helped him to become the singer that he is today. So, many think that Taemin's voice emulates Jonghyun because he is the one that taught Taemin to sing.

When you said "I don't know why, this song just makes me smile", I think that is the whole point of the song. Before Dec 2017, I would constantly hear people say stuff like that about Shinee, like 'they aren't even my bias group, but Shinee just makes me smile', or 'I love Shinee, they just make smile'. After, obviously it was much harder to smile. So, as the extra release after the whole Story of light trilogy, Shinee decided to give us a sweet, relatively simple song and MV designed to make us smile :)
That live came from The Shinee Special Party. They sang with a live band the whole concert. It's one of my favourite because it's all vocals and no choreo
That beutifull bridge u like, when in live stage, was cut out coz that confeti was suddenly come in taemin's mouth while he was singing the high note... 😂 so i think thats why they sang some part of countless again in the end of concert so taemin could sang his bridge again without interuption 😁

The lyrics speak from the point of view of someone looking back on a long relationship with someone who they maybe used to take for granted and now they can't count all the ways they are connected. Whether this is interpreted as a love song, a song for fans, or whatever else, I think the visuals and the lyrics both point to showing how time passes quickly and we should appreciate those who are important to us. But also like you've mentioned in previous videos, one of the cool things about art is that we're allowed to all have our own interpretations of it!

There is a theory of the meaning being tied to the book that Minho is holding..but just a theory ..I shared the link to it if you want to check it out..SM never explain MVs😆.. I love the bright house beat that's catchy but doesn't overpower the vocal melody.. It feels thoughtful, not sad but thinking and reminiscing on your emotions both postive and negative...I think this song just puts the crown The Story of Light. 😍 And they all look stunning...again
My own interpretation of this video, which may be completely wrong, is that it's about love that is safe like home. The person, who looked for other dreams and maybe for other love, realizes that there is someone, who loves them steadily and coming back to that person is like coming home.

That SHINee Special Party stage has always been one of my favorite performances of Countless. You could hear the crunch of them eating all those CDs. Countless is a wonderful cross between bop and beauty, the soaring vocals with the funky little instrumental equally prominent. I'm sure that Melinda or Saddlemama will provide GREAT information on its meaning. I've always heard love for Jjong, each other, and shawols in the lyrics. Not sure what you have coming down the pipeline for SHINee Fridays, but for fun and upbeat, try coupling Stranger and Evil. Lots of stages, but these two are my favorite because this Stranger has the very cool entrance of the various members and Evil has Taemin whipping viewers into a frenzy the entire song. It was at the end of THE SHINING when the boys were saying their goodbyes and the fans had done their little paperplane event - the band was already gone from their instruments and only the bg music for Countless was playing. They just didn't want to go (apart from SHINee day 2018 in May before the promo for TSoL started, which was in a smaller venue - these three concerts on two days in September at that Olympic sports stadium were the last Korean concerts they would have as a group, since Onew would be leaving for the military in October already, if I remember correctly).
