@@josenobi3022 Calculating your score is actually a suboptimal strategy, because it gives you more control over your life, forcing you to reflect on why Michelle's left you.
Absolutely brilliant response. Asking for shortform videos seems fully counterintuitive to your content, which is about detailing all of your small decisions throughout a run and showing how they can be optimized to win runs and/or break balatro's limits. Please keep the content long and informative, that's what makes it so enjoyable.
Ah, but random commenter, you are forgetting the RUclips algorithm rewards shorts because they want to compete with tiktok hence why growing channel is better with shorts. To break the RUclips algorithm you pump out shorts that funnel people into your main long form content. However, this channels growth potential is already limited by those who play balatro who will inevitably find these videos because they will be searching for them. Hence why any shorts should be aimed towards making people want to play balatro and grow the popularity of the game which will then lead them to want to learn and so on. Of course any videos should aim to hit the top of any Balatro related search result.
Completely unironically this short video got me to completionist plus in actually a 1/3rd of the time it would've taken me otherwise. You're a beast king.
Even if it was just to poke fun at a snarky comment, this was genuinely helpful. I started playing 2 days ago and so far have gotten to ante 12 and 11 with red and blue deck respectively, so i pretty much understand how the game works at this point, but am still learning how to optimize and build strong decks. I've been constantly buying booster packs with way less than 25 bucks and always wondering why im so broke lol
Oh no the man I respect the most at this game has told me never to skip, but the egg I love so dearly skips everytime I can feel the type A coursing through my veins
I wish people weren't so negative about free content. You're awesome dude and quickly have become one of my favorite creators. I like having your two hour kids on in the background while I do my Mathematical Research.
As spiteful and memeish as this is, I hope the people who need it find it. It's a nice little ball of really good bits of information. It'd go crazy as a yt short.
Just wanted to add to the supportive messages. I have learned a lot from your content but above all your videos are really fun, interesting and engaging. Thank you for the effort you put in!
Found out your channel from the infinite deck build you out together with Skoottie. It's impressive how knowledgeable and entertaining it is to see you work your magic at this game and make insane builds/runs! Keep up the good long form content, and don't let the dorks stifle you!
I will say I think that your long form videos about basic tips are likely useful for beginners. And I also think that it is true that your content does not fit short form videos. That being said, I do think that strategy game beginners are less likely to want to watch very long videos, and strategy game veterans are less likely to need basic tip videos, and will more likely find your endless runs and daily series more interesting. I'm sure there is some audience (although it might be small) for long tutorial style videos, but I wouldn't be surprised if those videos are less popular. This isn't to say you shouldn't make them, and in general I really love your content - but I think that is why I and possibly others chose to skip the tutorial style videos even though we watch all the other videos in full. Anyway, keep up the great videos!
The first round can be won with a full house or flush too, as long as it scores +40 chips (75 x 4 = 300). Straights are possible, but do not play J to 7 as your score will be under 300.
Shocked you did this in good faith (would've been easier to be snarky)... even so all this advice will not amount to anything without practice and familiarity and your longform series provides the reps for the latter
Not sure if part of the joke, but I've had a lot of success (but only recently in gold stake) with well-timed skips. You just have to know when the value of the skip reward outweighs the value of the opportunity to get a roll in the shop.
Thank you for this video! Since you you have done this is there a way you could perhaps do this with each stake. I am having trouble with orange right now for example. Appreciate all the help.
Damn, a lot of people seething in this comment section over a totally valid request, lol. Great video, really condensed all of the best tips down into an easily digestible, short video. Great content as always 👍
Now I have to watch the full video because I need to know why skipping is bad. I tend to skip a lot and that might be the reason why Im having a hard time at higher difficulty levels.
Skipping is definitely good sometimes but people MASSIVELY overvalue it. You develop your score with things from the shop. Even if you don't buy anything from the shop because it's all bad, you still have to get that shop one way or another. Skipping basically entirely delays your build - you are permanently one round behind the curve when you skip.
@@VanessaMagicki think it can be good in the first ante when the score thresholds are low and you don't need super strong hands to win. If i see free shop tag on the first round i take it every time, cause in my experience a whole shop's worth of stuff is almost always gonna be better than what you could buy if you played the first two rounds normally. Double tag also combos really well with tags that give you booster packs or money
Would you recommend going for unlocks on your first couple of runs? I just recently won my first game with the advice from your first "beginners start here" video after playing over 6 hours. thank you for the content and continued uploads!
You'll hit a lot of unlocks just by playing and aiming to win! I wouldn't focus on them right off the bat. Then once it starts to wind down, take note of some of the weirder situations you'd need (like the "Play every heart in your deck in one hand") and keep them off to the side. The only one to really go for as you learn IMO is to buy the blank voucher when you see it, so its related unlock happens. That and always buy Legendaries (the Soul card in packs), because some of us are at like 100 or more hours and *still* haven't lucked into all of them.
I’m confused as to the logic of never skipping on higher stake. Surely there are spots where it’s advantageous, especially early when you don’t have scaling and the first blind doesn’t give you any reward money.
Even if you get no reward money, no money from Hands, and no interest money, seeing more shops has value. Going into a shop is like getting a free reroll which would normally cost $5. Also, you reroll all the Booster Packs, which are way more valuable than other shop offerings.
"Never skip" is advice I give to newer players. In most situations skips are not worth it. And the rare situations in which you could skip are very nuanced. Even in those situations, you never get punished for not skipping. You aren't really missing out on much.
I’m surprised people in the comments are this bitter about shorter videos. Obviously, this was done as a joke and that’s why it’s just less than 2 minutes, but I also understand where people might be coming from. Not many people have the time to watch the bigger 1-2 hour videos, but would still like to learn strategies for different topics of the game. I do think that would be doable with 10-20 minute videos instead of full games in real time (which I definitely understand the value of). And I’m not suggesting that should replace the way you do things currently, but edited videos here and there could help a lot of people. Anyways, not trying to tell anyone what to do.
