The great thing about Kay as a pilot is that she is confident but not over confident. Kay flies the plane. The computer does not. There is no computer complacency here. Kay is always ahead of the curve. This is a safety culture in action. I admire this young lady's flying greatly. Fly safe Kay. Thanks for the superb videos. Just wish I could keep up with the supersonic verbal delivery!
Ok here’s what you can do, I do it with many videos some because I want to slow it down or some I want to get thru the video quicker. So go to the little gear in the upper right hand corner of the video and it will open up some options. Change the speed either faster or slower to your liking. All these pilots it seems like to talk as fast as they can for some reason including the ATC’s.
I kept wondering why Kay identified herself as "Turkey 7738". I tried slowing it down, and discovered that she was saying "Cherokee 7738". 🙂
@@Smannellites😂
I love the way you say "aw-right!" like a true Texas cowgirl.
McConaughey would be proud... :)
I know Kay claims to not be actively instructing right now but doggone it every video is a how to do it right instruction video. Im learning more from her now than I did with my primary instructors.
You are allowed to talk to yourself, and you are even allowed to answer yourself BUT you are not allowed to say "What did you say to me"! lol
Girl can flat talk on the radio. Like that she is always thinking ahead, and flying safe. Enjoyed the ride.
I’m not a pilot, only experience is as a passenger in military and commercial aircraft. I love your videos because you explain the reasons why you do this and that. I really appreciate learning from your videos.
You have inspired me so much, and now I am on my way to a pilot’s license! Thank you for showing me that there is more to flying than to be in the sky!😊
My pleasure my friend!!! Fly safe and keep me posted on your progress!!!
@@FlyWithKay thank you! I will :)
It's nice to see a pilot taking flying seriously and not making RUclips the main focus. Checklists, safety, inspections, staying ahead of the plane, et al is most important. Glad to see you setting a fantastic example for the younger generation.
Love the video Kay. I miss flying SO MUCH !! I'm 72 now and can't get a Medical clearance. Breaks my heart !
I feel your pain.....I'm 70 and can't my medical either.....😢
Go fly with a CFI…
Great planning, flying way ahead of the aeroplane, and a calm and cheerful approach to the tasks. I would have loved to have you as my CFI. 👍
Come back to bowling Green KY sometime.
24:42....don't ya just HATE that??? Fun as always, Kay!!
She is a fabulous pilot!I’ve flown since 1974 and pilot’s license 1977 and had a restored 1965 Cessna 172 and had it painted it green!Gorgeous if you like green.I like you so much because you fly the same way I fly!I am vocal on every move like you and do it by the book!So respect you!Not to mention a champagne attitude!I’m flying with you!!Thank you for making flying so much fun!
I left a comment on a previous video, and I'll leave another here. First of all, Kay is clearly an exceptionally professional aviator and takes training and safety seriously. Secondly, Kay is an exceptionally brave aviator, willing to publish videos of her flying for the world's entertainment (and hopefully even education). I yet again have another small radiotelephony critique, to whoever may see this. "Galveston Tower, Cherokee 7738N checking in" is a non-standard call without a purpose that just clogs the airwaves. I'd much prefer your initial call to Galveston Tower be "Galveston Tower, Cherokee 7738N on the ILS 14 with the weather, full stop." It conveys everything the tower needs to know and avoids the spurious 3 transmissions that followed the initial "checking in" call. All the said I'm an aviator that just moved to the Houston area and did all my training in the DFW Metroplex, so perhaps "checking in" is a local custom covered by some sort of LOA. Wonderful flying Kay, you exemplify the attitude and qualities that both private and future-transport aviators should be expected to have in this day and age.
Hey thanks for your comments and for the feedback! I know a lot of the ATC controllers personally (at least around here) and they have actually said with their equipment in the tower they already know exactly where I am coming from and have an update from approach/departure on the top of approach I am doing. By saying “checking in” it’s just letting know I am on frequency😊
But I’m glad you enjoy the videos and thank you so much for the kind words, I really appreciate it!!🥰
@@FlyWithKay Right on, thanks for the lesson Kay. Certainly nothing was meant to disparage you, I've just never seen that "checking in" call in the AIM, and rarely heard it used up in D10. But as we all know, different areas have different customs and unwritten rules so I'll defer to your expertise on that. I'm in the process of figuring out if I want to base out of Sugar Land or Hooks now, and Sugar Land certainly seems a bit less...stressful? for lack of better words. Happy flying!
I’ve flown that route many times including the RNAV or ILS approaches. I worked out of Galveston for many years. Good job.
Kay, your Cherokee takes me back to flying with my dad in the 60s.....Awesome plane .... looking forward to all your videos..!!
Makes me miss our old ‘68 Cherokee 235.
RIP Tnyflygirl. Stay safe Katey! Rick watching all the way up in Vancouver, BC< Canada
Lets be honest here. Kay is the real deal. Confident and qualified and knows exactly what she is doing and what is going on at any moment. The pilot "IT" factor with passion. IMO she is a bit of TMI with every single small detail but she seems to be having fun and I know is informative. I wish she had met up with TNFlygirl and given her some honest advice before her tragic end. To get fully qualified and to be honest with yourself. If not cut out to be a pilot on a more complex aircraft admit it and have others that care that will be honest. Kay is the standard others should emulate. Not just looks, how the cameras are setup, and number of clicks.
This is an exciting flying of you Kay in your airplane despite the clouds, bumps and turbulence, you flew your plane so succeessfully. I wish you safety always and keep on praying for your success. Kay, I admit you that you are truly an aviation heroine
In 1990 I was working at a piper dealer at KOUN (Norman, OK.) I owned a Cherokee 180 N5309L, I would fly it from KSNL (shawnee, OK,) we had a Cherokee 140 that I used to pick people up around Oklahoma City and take back to KOUN, the 140 felt lethargic compared to my 180, I would suggest looking for a 180, you will be surprised by the extra 40 hp, I really like your videos I watch them all the time, keep up the great work !
Thanks enjoyed flight keeping you company virtually. Looks like a nice flight, I enjoyed it. Clouds were little bumpy not too bad. You sure like flying in & out clouds, gives you current experience. :-)
You’re awesome Miss Kay!!!!
what I love most about this video is you. It's great to be along for the ride with you and to see you work the plane with her instruments and the info from atc. The scenery and the pilot are easy on the eyes!
Thanks, in 1982 we lived in Mission Bend. At the south fence at Hwy 90 I saw Mig15 take off at the Sugarland Airport. Lots of smoke out of the thing. Cool😊
Love Galveston. Thanks.
Nice to watch a YT pilot in control of their aircraft, ahead of their aircraft and a pilot in command ... nice to watch and enjoy.
Have been watching some vids of TNFLYGIRL after her crash and her flying was painful to watch.
I like the way you keep us informed on everything you’re doing. That was some great flying.
Watching here in England.I’m glad I found your videos.Have a great Christmas
I have a challenge for you that would look great on your resume. Get proficient at using no I pad, no autopilot, back to old school VOR "reckoning lol", paper charts, E6B, knee pads for notes.
Yes go full Old school with a cluttered cockpit and become practiced and proficient at it. "NO Autopilot"!
Flight planning becomes much more intense and difficult in needing notes for way points, VORs, optional airports and many scripted radio frequencies for the such and "etc."
Claiming practiced proficiency at this (including for IFR) would be very impressive and may get you considered and hired above others.
Challenged! Cheers: Robert P.S.: For safety: I will allow you to use your I-Pad for traffic identification/avoidance... nothing more!
That would be AWESOME,.......exactly how i learned to fly and get my instrument rating....😅
How it was done back in the 70's! One of the most awkward things you could do is to get that damn sectional out in the cockpit to reroute in turbulence and no autopilot lol @@ClearedAsFiled
So you think a pilot should fly without all the tools at their disposal? C’mon man, having paper charts available is a good idea, but if you’ve got the tools and they’re working, use them. That’s the smart thing to do.
NO I think a pilot should know how """and be proficient""" at flying without all of the electronics. "Come on man"! right back at you. @@TheAmbageHouse
Your videos are awesome. They remind me of my days in the AF flying around as a maintenance electrician. I love them
You rock. Kate! ❤
I loved seeing it clear after the clouds! I love the view. Thanks for sharing, Kay! (We share that name, but mine is with an e, lol)
Thanks so very much for sharing your experience and video with us I really appreciate it and always please keep on making your videos and always please fly safe
Happy Saturday Ms. Kay.......and happy holidays...from sweet home Alabama...
Thanks Kay! I miss living in Kemah and dropping down to Galveston on the weekend!
Enjoyed the video today, Kay! Such a pleasure to ride along. All good! 👍🤓
Wow at all the digital instruments and iPad. What would you do if it was all paper like back in 1980's on a C1A transport, CVA-60, COD-60. All analog instruments. Keep having fun flying, I do miss it, was a flight engineer.
I've been getting a lot of hours in a borrowed 172 with tail number 7738X, I caught myself once on radio yesterday saying 7739N. Guess I've been watching plenty of your videos lately and Lil' Red is rubbing off on me :)
You asked to tell what we liked about the video. How about your awesomeness? You are always so positive and alert. Love how you explain as you go.
Love the view going in and out of the clouds! Beautiful!! Great video as always!!
Thank you . For teaching me . Are you safe up their. Lots radios not. Clear on my phone
I enjoyed today’s flight Kay. I look forward to the next one!
Please show us how to use VORs
Thanks for sharing the trip.
Love you Kay! Keep flying because you rock at it!
As an infrequent, and very anxious traveler, I would need you to be my calming influence during all those bumps. Matter of face, I've never been in one of those small prop job planes before! Flying in Lil Red would be a fantastic introduction. Thanks for explaining some of the lingo. Perhaps you could dedicate a video in that vein. OH, a tower tour you mentioned being offered. So cool. If possible, please film it!
You are so brilliant.
yes a very safety minded pilot. What I love the most was how you handle yourself while flying.
Love your ALRIGHTS Kay x
You be careful. I know you have more experience, but we lost TNflyGirl on Dec 7. Love your videos and want to see them for years to come. God bless and be safe sweet lady!
TN fly girl was an accident waiting to happen! Kay’s a CFII. Not even comparable.
Hi Kay, I am so happy to watch your videos! I learned to fly while I was stationed in the Army in Monterey, California, back in 1975 (almost 50 years ago!) I acquired my private pilot license at the Monterey Navy Flying Club at the Monterey Penisula Airport. I have so many good memories of flying around the Monterey Bay area, as well as Maryland when I was stationed there. I also continued my instrument/commercial flight training in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the late 1970's. You are such an inspiration and your calm, professional demeanor speaks to your high level of training and experience. I am stoked to be a Kayviator! Sincerely, Sue Smart
It’s pretty cool how you have the right equipment for your airplane and for the type of flying you do as a GA pilot. It’s also a good testament showing how darn enjoyable flying your own airplane can be once you have the training and experience to stay ahead of the airplane and make it do what you want it to do consistently. Very enjoyable to join you on your missions. I am a private pilot who just sold my Cessna 172 after 15 years of ownership. I have a daughter just finishing up medical school which is pretty exciting. Hope to get another Cessna once she is on her way in her career. Another Cessna (182 hopefully). For now I am flying vicariously with you seemingly like I did with some of my flying friends as a safety pilot. It’s was informative as it is following your flights. 😊
Fly into Flora,IL and have a meet & greet!
Thanks for allowing me to fly with you today. Awesome flight ✈️ and I enjoyed your confidence.
“ATC for the win!” and “Allll-riiiight” would be great catch phrases for your merch. 😊 love your channel 💕
Thanks!
sudden strange atmosphere when in cloud, like a different world lol
AWESOME 😄
LOVE your videos 😎👍✨
Good job 👍
I'd say, if you ever fly over Skyline Drive, Bay Street Park, or the Texas City Dike...send me a squawk....lol You will probably see me walking my puppy. We see alot of planes and paramotor in the area, if I knew it was you, we would wave. I noticed the bay is a little out of your flight pattern, but just sayin HI. (Texas City, Galveston county)
Nice flight Kay...
2 minutes in with 44 views, wow popular aren't you? Yep! Cheers Robert
Thank you for *not* chasing your cell phone when it fell off the holder as you started your approach!
Kay, I really enjoy watching your videos and I love aviation. In past years I have gone up when My brother flew a Cessna , we flew from Mesquite, TX to Winnsboro.TX where my dad lived.
❤❤❤❤❤❤ you just flat out having fun doing these videos and hoping everyone enjoys them thanks a lot I was flying with you today
My wife and I really enjoy watching your flight video's....im a pilot too BUT I fly drones! :-) I came with a new logo for you, in which you have probably already heard before, but it popped into my head last night after watching your video..... "Fly with Kay - "The Sky's the Limit" Keep up the great video's!
Awesome job! You are a wonderful pilot, I believe in any circumstances. Beautiful also.😊
I took an "intro" flight once when I was thinking about learning how to fly. The instructor let me fly the plane and I was all smiles. My first time. Then we hit an air pocket and I swear we dropped about 200 feet in about 1 second. I brought the plane back up to altitude but it was an eye opener for sure. I put my flying lessons on hold then. I wonder how helos or gyrocopters handle those. Is there a better time of the year to fly? I was wondering how often that happens. Watching videos like Fly With Kay I am getting a better perspective and really appreciate it.
Great video kay really enjoyed watching
Try Kay , love watching your videos and you have fun. Have my plane based in Conroe. Saw your night video and saw that you had your hoodie up. Is your heater working ok. That is always something to worry about. Take care and fly safe.
Kay - love the aerial tours of Texas! If you get an extra GoPro, could we get an outside ground view so we can see cool stuff like Lake Conroe, Lake Livingston, Galveston Bay, or "downtown Sugarland"? 😄 Part of the fun of flying is to get the birds-eye view below. When I fly commercial I love spending time just staring out the window... Moving STINKS but good luck with that anyway! "Keep the shiny side up and the wheels down!" from a FlywithKay fan near KADS...
Nice last name Mr Gilpin
I loved going to Galveston. But I did it the hard way, by car.
Kay, what ever came about the job interview in Louisiana I think. From a few months back.
Great job! Love hearing your commentary throughout the flight keep up the great work! Hope you had fun in Galveston. Merry Christmas if we don't hear from you between now and then!
Thanks for the ride along Kay and as always great piloting!!
By the way, do you miss the northwest and we love your videos thank you very much
Trawling through "RUclips" for other similar types of channel, I am struck by one thing. There are few pilots who post their experiences up on the platform, who have the same dedication to following the safety procedures to this level. Kay is clearly a "Commercial Pilot in the making!" This is a joy to watch. 🥰🥰. Just have to add, you are really rocking those Ray Bans!
Enjoyed the flight, ty for bringing us along. Lifer Texan, seen most all of your destinations in Texas, but not as high up lol I love your approach to rules, regs, watching and keeping a focus on everything. Great videos > keep em comin From SE Texas Bear Orange, Tx LA border
Very nice
Alright!!! 😊
Bright and competent thanks so much for sharing!!!
Get yourself a shoulder harness fitted, crazy!
Alright!
Thanks Kay, Love your video's
Check your. Two tanks! .! Ok
Do you still get nervous on every landing like most us regular folk in passenger planes ? Or is it just routine to you or even fun ? Love your channel keep up the great work 👍
Watching you from Frinton on sea England! Love your vids x
So cool! Have you ever been to the Lock and Barrel pub? If so, how's the food there?
@@FlyWithKayha!ha! yes Good food! Was was watching your trip to Galveston now cant get that Glen Campbell classic out of my head lol!
You often say that "All Right" is cute. It's like having nothing else to say...I'M following you and I've notice that after a few video. You've said it 7 or 8 times in this video, well have fun, ¨All Right ¨ LoL...
Great Kay🤗🤗🤗🤗
Nice
Another great flight 👍👍
A nice relaxing flight! Thanks, Kay!

Nice job 🎉😊
I am a student pilot and just learning to fly. Would love to ride shotgun with Kay someday talk and learn a bit from her. I appreciate how she flies.
I really enjoyed the flight Kay. Can’t wait till the next one!
Hello again Kay. I've been watching your videos and find that they are quite impressive and thanks for sharing them with us that watch your channel.
Ha! I was just thinking of suggesting an "All Riiiiigghht" T-shirt for your shop.
I was laughing every time the camera was on behind your head. Your hair reminds me of one of those inflatable advertising balloons..😂😂
Great flight will you be going to sun n fun?
Thanks for another excellent flight!
