- So the Ermac & Movado trailer dropped for Mortal Kombat 1 earlier today and as you would expect, lets take a look at it and do a full breakdown! There's a LOT going on here, Ermac is crazy, movado breaks the rules of the game? and looks like there's a big patch on the way cause Reptile is doing all new things! So lets deep dive in and have a look!

So Ermac is looking real good, straight up combo monster. So many juggles and capture states, the fact he has fly cancels and all sorts of other gimmicks, looks like we are gonna be in for a good time! And Mavado? Well he does the stretchy rubber fling kick, you know the only thing hes ever done lol. Reptile is very shocking in this video because it tells me that the upcoming release of Ermac on the 16th may come with a sizable patch cause Reptile has straight up BRAND NEW MOVES. We don't gotta wait for super ultimate MK1 arcade edition for new stuff, we are getting it right now it looks like!?

This is why you are the breakdown lord. I saw that trailer 3 times and never noticed these potential gameplay mechanics (OTG, Guard Cancel) and Reptile's new stuff.

Not gonna lie that Reptile Acid Spit Ball looks hella slow on start up. I hope its actually a good move.
Well it was a cancel. He cancelled his acid spit into the acid ball. Just like how you can cancel his Back 2 into the roll or the invisibility, it will be like that. The normal move will definitely be faster.
peacemaker patch completely changed quan chi’s gameplay for the better, plus all the balance adjustments last time were great. i’m positive this will be a great patch

This is the first time since probably the original reveal of mk1's gameplay that I have felt excited
one of ermac’s air strings was his main overhead mixup in MKX lol. also I love how it’s not just random green spirit energy anymore, but actual manifestations of spirits doing shit like holding people upside down. also love how Ermac now has more of a teal energy while the green is for Quan. lots of good stuff here for the character, and for all the characters they’ve done in MK1.

Mavado was fun to meme with back in the day. Use the grapple thing to pull to the left/right to avoid spears, fireballs, iceballs, etc gave people a headache haha
Mortal Kombat should bring on OTG and wall bounces would make some moves look super gruesome. I was more happy about Reptile buffs than Ermac although he does look cool lol
It seems like movado is meant to punish zoners by putting the rushdown and mix-up players next to the opponent.

Definitely loving the new ermac . New moves for the characters would be cool. I still wish that the cameos could had variations that would have been pretty cool if they could have pulled it off . Maybe if we ever get cameos again they could add variations to them . I think it’s a lost opportunity that could have made them a lot more interesting.

Ngl they made Movado's fatality pretty cool compared to how silly it was in deadly alliance.
The 3d games, specifically Deception, had otgs. Goes with the theme of the kameo packs. Bringing old mechanic from the past, variants, the timer on Khameleon, old combo Jonny punch, and otg from the 3d games.
Barely remember Mavado, but he was in the MKX comic they released aroudn the time of that game. Think he was trying to do some sneaky mastermind shit, Cassie and Jacqui eviscerate him pretty fast.

Very cool stuff, though I did notice Ermac's mobility looks really, REALLY bad. Like if those were supposed to be his dashes, and not just a jolty walk, then he is gonna be one of if not THE slowest in the game.
I understand every characters need strengths and weaknesses, and bad mobility is a valid weakness, I was just really surprised by just how freaking tiny his steps were.
His mobility is gonna be redeemed by his possible whiff punishes. He seems like he can cancel a lot of stuff and back dash too. Like he was charging some move and then did a quick back dash (which had a different animation than his regular walking one)

Why most I'd rather we get more 3d era characters
“Which is why Mavado is a Kameo and not a full character, right?” Honestly this logic doesn’t hold up for the rest of the Kameo cast. We have sub zero and scorpion as both, as well as Jax and Kano. If they wanted, they could have crafted a creative Mavado moveset imo.

After Delia's foresight of an armageddon, she and Argus send their sons, Taven and Daegon, to Earth to protect them from harm during Shao Kahn's invasion of Edenia. They would sleep deep below the earth until Armageddon is nigh. Daegon however is mistakenly awoken early and reaches out to Delia and Argus to learn the true nature of their quests. Learning that Delia and Argus favored Taven, Daegon kills them both (although they seem to have feigned their deaths) and establishes the Red Dragon clan (named after his guardian dragon, Caro, who's enslaved to due his evil biddings) to monitor Earthrealm for Taven. Some of the Black Dragon recruits grew tired of the Red Dragon's limitations and formed the Black Dragon clan. Red Dragon then helped engineer the destruction of Black Dragon and Mavado killed Kabal. (a former member who left the black dragon life behind to be a agent of good) Kabal is then ressurected by Havik who wanted him to sow chaos by creating a new Black Dragon clan. Kabal then avenges himself and reclaims his hookswords which was claimed by Mavado as trophies.
Im pretty sure that mavado 'alpha counter' is just an armored reversal summon move.

My favorite character
They encroached crazy with his animations. he still does carry a bit of levitation air flight moves from mk x but doesn't matter he looks so much better from previous mk9 and mk x combined respectively. as for the costume I know it would be my opinion only but they should should be giving him an mk9 design or armageddon style cause this mk1 costume is not my favourite but gameplay welcome back ermac. The self proclaimed master of souls steps into the ring again in mortal kombat once again. But I still bet he would have crazy outfit designs. another breakdown in the books again rooflemonger thank you so much for your dedication of breakdown strings and combos for each fighting game characters from different franchises

My only complaint is Ermac's magic color, that green is more appropriate for a ghost pirate than a sorcerer. Mavado looks very cool, he's exactly the PS2 loser that should be a Kameo and I love it 😍
