    Wow. I'm eight weeks into drum lessons and wonder if I'll ever be able to do this at the faster tempo. Thank you for the lesson, and I'm off to practice now!

      just practice the heck out of it, very slow 40 and gradually increasing bmp. Good luck.

    Great vid. Thanks for making this. Def taught and playing for years. Figure it’s time to learn this stuff. No BS here. No in your face crap. Just a well done video

    Thanks so much for this! I have a hard time with notation specifically and with learning in general. It's a relief to finally find a video that clearly breaks the rudiments down and includes slow-motion and at-speed versions of each clearly-notated rudiment. Even with that count mistake and lack of a metronome pointed out by other viewers, it's great.

    • @FasterHands
      @FasterHands  4 года назад

      Thank you Franck! Tough question. It varies a lot. But more important than the duration is that you focus on something when practicing, that you know exactly what you want to practice before you sit down at the pad or drums.

    Begin by learning the Single and Double stroke rolls & the Flam. All rudiments are made up of those 3 strokes.

    • @FasterHands
      @FasterHands  4 года назад +4

      Yeah, I accidentally played nine strokes there. Thanks for your comment Jakob!

    Hi, I'd like you to answer a question to the single stroke seven. Is the length of the slow performed beat/measure correct? I doubt that, cause the last 7th R-Stroke is a quarter, which makes up also 6 16th-triplets like the 6 played before. But you play it like 5 of the 16th triplets. Is there a reason for that? Tanks in advance, greetings from Germany :-)

    • @FasterHands
      @FasterHands  6 лет назад

      Hi Steffen, alles klar? Danke für deine Frage!
      You are absolutely right. I don't play it quite clean. It sounds like I'm starting the figure a little too early! I must have played it without a metronome.

    • @ffacualvarez
      @ffacualvarez 5 лет назад

      Hi Steffen. The slow version sounds ok to me. But the speeded-up version sounds quite like he's playing a nine stroke roll instead the single stroke seven. Cheers from Argentina.

    Very poor grip control of the sticks. Purchase of Burns & More book or is a CD and LP record John Dowling explaining the rudiments correctly John was a good friend of mine may he rest in peace also he is responsible for teaching people back sticking he developed the technique

    You are wrong with rudiment 3, There are 7 beats. You made 9.

    • @FasterHands
      @FasterHands  4 года назад +2

      You mean in the fast version of single stroke seven, right? Yes! I play 32nd notes instead of sextuplets there! My mistake!

  • @radeum1010
    @radeum1010 5 лет назад

    it's just a pity you didn't have the metronome going..otherwise v good

    Love this video! I just started learning drums on a practice pad. What bpm do you recommend for “fast tempo”? Thank you!

    • @FasterHands
      @FasterHands  Год назад

      Hey Castaña Eleven, thank you so much. Please don't rush. Find your own "fast tempo". It's always a good idea to practise slowly and pay attention to all the little micro-movements. The speed comes on its own 🙂
